Haas Kowert Tice Perform "Leadfoot" for Peghead Nation

Peghead Nation Fiddle Styles Workshop instructor Brittany Haas performs with a number of different groups. One of the most exciting is this trio of Brittany on fiddle, Paul Kowert on bass, and Jordan Tice on guitar. Paul is known for his work with Punch Brothers and Dave Rawlings Machine, and Jordan is one of the go-to acoustic guitarists in the Northeast, performing with diverse artists like Tony Trischka, Jake Schepps, Simon Chrisman, and more. The trio released its first recording (You Got This) in the spring of 2014, a set of originals that draws on the bluegrass, Celtic, Swedish, old-time, and avant string band music the individual members are known for. Is that Brittany’s usual axe? I’ve seen her play a number of times, and heard her even mire on recordings, and today is the first time I noticed she is playing a 5 string fiddle. Obviously that could just me being dense but I really noticed the viola sounds on this cut, especially at the start.
