Great stuff, as everyone has said. But I wonder what gives it the special quality it has. I think it's technical skill plus the fact that the musicians are genuinely engaged with each other in the making of the music. Those things together. It's almost as much fun to watch Joe Walsh watch Brittany as it is to listen to her.
@@fractuss Yes, I would agree. I was thinking more about my own country, New Zealand, colonised by Europeans, but virtually none of the music they brought with them has survived in general society, except for the many Highland Pipe Bands and some Irish Dance accompaniment. It is rare to find people making their own music in a pub, for instance. I guess you could count church music I suppose, but I don't go there.
Getting infatuated with their rendition of "Grigsby's Hornpipe" - and the leg-driven harmonium! ruclips.net/video/50sHwjKbscY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/kJN66Y-fmZc/видео.html
alex henry this tune is normally played in calico tuning, AEAC#, super cool tuning, it's a whole lotta fun. Not sure if that's what she's doing here though.
this is secretly one of the best uploads on RUclips
The finest fiddler on the planet....simply majestic! Brittany please come to the UK on tour!!
Brittany is one of my favorite of old time fiddle music. She is so gifted
Fantastic little house concert. I was lucky enough to be sitting right up front. Thanks for the great music!
Her playing said it all. It speaks for itself.
All time favorite, awfully nice and and really "down-to-earth"music ! Keep on enjoying us, you wonderfull bunch of people !
Gerry, Oeffelt - Holland.
This is so rich, so beautiful, it is painful. They play so beautifully!

This is so beautiful.
Truly Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!
Very enjoyable. What fortunate people you citizens of the USA are to have this tradition in music, and those with the skills to keep it thriving.
I thank Europe and Africa for much of the inspiration.

Amazing performance - and the harmonium leg-play is greatly un(der)-appreciated.

amazing guys! hope you all going to bali island
Brittany is perfection.
Great 👍
Groovy! :)
Anyone familiar with the type of tuning she's using? There were moments where it sounded like a hardanger rather than a regular fiddle.
She doesn't retune between tunes (whole set is posted online), so I suspect that's the effect of the harmonium and some very accurate fiddling.

She's using the calico tuning here, which is actually one of the tunings that is used on hardanger fiddles
Calico with a low A on the 5th string, yeah.
Fantastico dark 😘
When/Where was this?
Uhh, ignore the dummy who didn't read the opening frame.
Is she using her 5 string on this tune?
AEAC# cross tune?
What a beautiful improvisation ! It is beyond talent. Something to do with the gods ...
I suppose there no accounting for taste!
There should be no arses in those chairs!
The only possible way to improve this is to play it twice... or more
But it’s a horn pipe
creepy
