      It is not even remotely hard to be 44 and in the best shape of your life. In fact nearly anyone can be if they make it a priority. (In particular if our metrics of "shape" are strength or muscle mass, two of the later-peaking athletic capacities of the male body.)
      The only major exception to this is those who were at or very nearly at their genetic potential during their earlier life. That potential, of course, has declined slightly since its peak. Mr. Skarsgard was, to put it mildly, not a competitive bodybuilder before packing on his muscle for the role. He would've been a real slapdick about his training *not* to have been on his way to being the most jacked of his life at 44. (That said, no, I don't think he did it natty.) I can't even when people keep misunderstanding age related decline like this.
      I'd ordinarily hope that a bunch of oldsters don't hear such foolishness and think 44 is decrepid and they can't indeed be in the best shape of their lives, can't even best their younger untrained (or semitrained) selves. Then again, if they're dumb enough to believe it at their age maybe it's best that they not increase the risk of passing on their epigenetically damaged *and* apparently not great to begin with sperm on to the next generation.

    • @Miths000
      @Miths000 4 года назад +16

      @@notepad9883 Yes, there seems to be a very common misconception that your testosterone and general physical condition drop off a cliff after 40 or even mid 30s. Nonsense for the average man who's not been diagnosed with clinically low testosterone.
      If men over 40 take the time and effort to workout and not overeat (and overdrink) they can certainly experience their peak physique and muscularity at that age, at least if they were not pro athletes earlier in their life.
      The few things that have gotten worse for me in my 40s are my joints and injury recovery. So I do a mix of calisthenics, weights, elastic bands and cardio now, whereas in my teens, 20s and most of the my 30s it was just lifting weights and cardio. Most barbell compound lifts are out of the question for me now with one bad shoulder and elbow issues coming and going. But obviously that's an individual thing, plenty of men in their 40s, 50s and older who can still do heavy bench press, shoulder presses etc.

      Right, I was thinking while I was watching this that a lot of celebrity TV show interviews are loosely rehearsed, kind of like standup comedians hitting their bits as the opportunity comes up. It's a PR performance, not a legitimate interview.

    I'm 43 and have never used steroids. Never been overly committed to working out. Worked physically my whole working life. Recently got into working out because of a pretty serious injury. I love your videos and my main takeaway is this. For me, the sacrifices to be a specimen are not worth it. I work out for longevity, strength and mental health. Between therapy and excercise I feel so much better about life and I am accepting the limitations of my age, yet realizing that I have more capability than I thought. I am definitely convinced that a ripped six pack isn't worth a no joy life. And I feel great when I see myself with my shirt off. I am happier, I have more empathy and all my relationships have improved. My philosophy is. Eat good food(sometimes icecream) workout for the purpose of getting stronger than I was before, leaving enough energy for the things I enjoy and focus on the things that help you feel good.

Diet has to be flexible if you want it to be sustainable long-term. I'm currently following a fat loss meal plan from Dietarize (thank me later 😉). I think it’s important to remember that when actors are doing their interview circuits to promote their latest movie they’re looking for juicy sound bites, true or false, to generate buzz and get people to buy tickets (or VOD rentals these days 🙃). It’s definitely not about accuracy, it’s all big-fish stories full of exaggeration.
    I suspect the discrepancies with the trainers version similarly has to do with wanting to increase his client base or sell diet plans or whatever. Again, not about accuracy, he’s probably just playing to the crowd.

Lean meat + steamed veg 3-4 meals per day + a good workout will put anyone in amazing shape in less than a year. And so long as you are adding salt to each meal and drinking a bone broth here and there it's extremely healthy.

    Alexander Skarsgårds trainer has his own YT channel where he explains exactly what they did to get him in shape for Tarzan and other movies. I'll give you a hint: It wasn't 7000 calories of chicken and broccoli.
    Skarsgård did a traditional bulk for about 4 months straight before he spent about 3 months cutting down. This was done before shooting. During shooting he ate at maintenance while still training very hard. His macros where very balanced the entire time.

I got clean from hard drugs and got into lifting and eating healthy and was in worse shape then his starting shape, and i would say after one year of sobriety my physique was slightly better than his, or the same-ish and i didn't start lifting till i was 3 months sober so it was like 9- 10 months and i reached about the same leanness but more mass in the arms and shoulders, completely natural. But idk maybe he did, if he had a shitty diet, that's literally half the battle.
