The choice of veena instead of violin is highly commendable. Veena is alone capable of giving the emotion of carnatic music.
Agree with the spirit of your opinion. Especially a ragam like Ahiri of played by some one with flat notes on violin won't even sound like Ahiri.
However these days we have fantastic violinists capable of playing in perfect gayaki style...
And it doesn't automatically mean that just by playing violinists you automatically play the perfect music...

The kirthana is excellent in ahiri. mridangam nice, Priyanka Chari is extrodinary, I heard her Veena in karaharapriya memorable raga in sai sisters sarva premamayam.It is un forgattable. God bless all 3 artists. Lalit Subrahmaniam, Anantha Padmanabham Priyanka Chary

the ahiri raagam itself is soul filling, the experts of this raga were " alaththur brother" in male for old timers like me. among female bombay jayasree, but this guy sings almost at par. he may excel once he is experienced. what a panchamam, as a ardent follower of carnatic music for 50years I wish this boy all the best. thanks for the person posted this syama sastry's favourite. I'm not a specialist of indian music like others commentators but I like the way this soulful musicians have been filmed...The slow sliding in 'american shot' from the Sarasvati Veena to the carnatic singer and the mridangam player back and forth...

Was searching for an Assamese Xotriya Raaga called AHIR which lead to this. Such soulful singing... Dint understand the language a bit but the RAAGA made me glued to this. Really music has no boundary. Great performance.
The meaning is so wonderful. You are left with helpless love for Mother. Try and read the meaning if you can. It is in Telugu.
However depressed I may be,this raga lifts my spirits.Fortunately,all the trinity of carnatic music,have composed in this raga.Soulful,wonderful raga.My day is not complete without listening to this raga.

Excellent. A small suggestion; the seating position of the veena player is not aligned to the vocalist. She had to constantly turn her head to get the flow.

BGM could have been better... Very nicely sung...
He begins with the anupallavi and elaborates it too. It is like putting the cart before the horse. Pallavi should be sung first and the sangatis should be elaborated there.

Breath control could've been well planned to avoid gasping into the Mike. Very sweet voice and naturally tender too. Overall a good sincere attempt
To begin this kriti with the anupallavi starting words, “nyAyamA mInAskhammA” is like holding the tail without looking at the face of the animal. The face is very clear: When I address you as “mother” why are you reluctant to talk with me? Then you proceed to examine the body and the tail which detail as “mother, I do not have any one else to offer me protection; so it is not fair that you ignore me”. Starting with the premise, “it is not fair…” by singing the anupallavi first is not fair to the composer. It is not this group and its organizer are doing it as an experiment. Other established singers too do the same: anupallavi first and then pallavi.
