I want to be clear. This isn't saying I hate the game. I know that a lot of you will hear that in this video, but that's not the message I'm trying to convey. Anyways, catch you all in the next one.
The fact that a game like this keeps our attention for quite a long time is pretty good in this day and age. It’s a business, after all, and they have to generate revenue to keep innovating.
To me it's simply a game that I enjoy playing, I started in late 2012, I then stopped to emigrate and focus on work in 2014, I rejoined in 2023 and yes it's different and constantly changing, but that's life, to me FOE is just a game I enjoy, not a partner that is cheating on me by changing personality, and not a way of life or a job, it's merely a game, entertainment, and if you no longer like it, find something else to do with your time, also if you feel that passionate about it, why not write to INO, join their team, influence them.
i get it, i agree, i dont hate it either, hate is not contructive at all, but it can be so much better! sadly the people behind it at the top did not bother to listen much to the players feedback trough the years they had thousands of people put ten thousnds of hour sof feedback in beta forums and other places playing their game for years (some even put money into it also) and most o fit been totally ignored ! i guess it's cause it doesnt fit into their "business model " of profit-at-all-cost, even if it means it ruins the game for most players.
I hate the battle side of things. I only do it to get the rewards and I'm glad there is the Autobattle button. Saves me to go through boring fights. What I enjoy is building, expanding, creating, and fighting or negotiating is only another way of doing that. It helps that I don't play for the competition. I don't care where I am in the ranking. All I want to do is build a nice looking city.
Add to that more progress towards capturing a node or a sector and you have a deal. I'm not wasting my time in manual battles to get the same results I can get just by pressing a single button.
It might be worth considering increasing the rewards for battles fought on negotiation fields, for example, by 2-3 times. Additionally, you could make it so that every 10th or 20th battle on these fields needs to be fought manually, with a significantly larger reward for those battles. This could also serve as a good deterrent against people using automated battle programs.
I think 'auto battle' saves the game for me; at first I didn't realize it was there as slogged tediously through Expedition. Now I can't think of anything more boring or a greater time-waster than manually playing each battle dozens if not hundreds of times each day.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the QI part. I can sorta understand the forgotten temple giving a boost, because it is already a necessary building with its FP boost, and having a small attack boost in the beginning is important to survive in the first few days. But other buildings giving QI boosts doesn’t make sense, when the whole point of it, is to make a new city, where you start from scratch, so having buildings and potion giving pretty substantial boosts is frustrating.
I agree, I'm almost quitting GBG, not only it's repetitive, but it's really bad for my arm, hand and wrist. Also, it's insane how many repetitive and meaningless actions we are required to do for quests, this aspect also makes me sick.
For manual battles to be feasible, there should be additional rewards for going that route. It could be rewards themselves, or manual fighting could double or triple the progress. Otherwise, it's insanity to expect someone to fight hundreds of battles per day in manual mode for the same stuff, which would require much more time to finish everything. And that's just one world. I think manual fighting should be made tastier and more fun, but not superior to autobattle. I mean, there are people who can not or don't want to spend more time on that, but they still should get a decent progress going autobattle. Happy middle ground or something.
Welcome to the grind! Nothing in this game really requires "skill", it requires time and dedication. People played the game for a while because it was an easy time-waster. Then they 'wanted more', so they added more features and now people complain that it 'takes too much time'. Play what you like and leave the rest. With that I agree with QI, where the first new opportunity to get QI boost is to the Gold League Rewards/Calendar rewards that practically REQUIRE spending. But in the end it takes money to develop and run a game, so enjoy the fact that you've been having 'x' months/years of fun and paid nothing!
I agree and disagree. My issue is how much time and concentration this takes now. I can't have fun with my cities or talking to people, because even autobattles can be time-consuming. Now it's just lack of room and cram as much as you can into the city, because it's all about the boost. And why spend money on events when the next event buildings will eclipse those we have currently. I play 4 worlds, each one slightly different but I burnt out on my main and instead of playing in a high diamond guild, I choose to be in a 2 person guild so I can find some time to do QI (growing on me but seems the exact opposite of the main game), Rival Quests (PITA) daily quests, settlements, GE (I still love it but GE5 is too easy now), PvP, GbG, and talk to people I have met online. It's just a massive time suck with much less enjoyment of feeling like I've actually done what I set out to do. I don't age up because there's no good time, no down time, and new players are at SUCH a disadvantage. It doesn't seem like it was always like this.
yes, this takes up way more time in my day than i would like to admit. i don’t hate auto battles, as it is not an aspect i particularly enjoy. it would be great to make the cities interesting or attractive, rather than just multiples of the same buildings! arghh
Ive started only a few years ago, back when fiore village came out. I like the auto battle personaly, the thing i dislike about current foe is the amount. Since the beginning of the powercreep, the amount of battles only increased. Back when i started i could only play to like 20 attrition and had to look where and when to fight, after a few months i was able to get to 30 attrition. But now, there are event buildings that give u as much attack boost as 3 buildings just a few years ago. The 30 attrition and limited army size limitations have been swappes out to 100 attrition and no army limitations. For me its the time requirement thats anoying. Thoose fun 10-20mins have now turned to 1h+. Pls, reduce the amount of possible fights, i like auto battle but not for 400+ fights over an hour...
This is why I'm a negotiator for the most part. You can't get negotiation boosts besides them spending less goods. If you're in the bronze age, or Space Age Titan, the Negotiations are still challenging. There's also no "goal" for Forge of Empires, which many people fall into the trap of. Set a goal for yourself, and when you achieve it, set another goal. My current goal is to get every Great building. It makes placement hard, and finding a way to get the goods and blueprints is a big challenge. If you play the game without a goal, you get stuck in the autobattle trap. Having no event buildings is also an interesting way to play the game, as it requires you to balance what tech tree and great buildings you have. There's also the tinytown way to play. You can also try to get to the highest age without doing more than X story quest(s) per unit of time, try to spend less than a week in every other age, or get to a point where you and a few other Players swap around buildings in your cities every couple days to make it a "find the difference between today and yesterday" game.
i have 2 goals, 1 is to reach the highest age which i do in en1 and another to can fights at the highest attrition( manuel) which i thought i would can get by filling the city with silk weaver experiums and bullion garrison until they nerver it
I play multiple worlds and I have left one without event buildings on purpose. I only have GBs and "normal" buildings in that world. I have great fun playing the game in the old fashioned way.
You are absolutely right. I too am getting a bit bored because of the trend towards more and more autobattles backed up by special building power inflation. Thinking of quitting but cant quite bring myself to do it yet.
1. Money. The people who spend pay for the free to play players. Without them no game. 2. Time. The game takes much more time due to the new features. I can spend 2 - 3 hours a day on the game and can longer do everything. I run a main, a 2nd and a small beta city. Once I could easily manage all 3. Now the 2nd is a diamond farm and I still can't do everything without staying up late. I'm ok with autobattle up to a point. Autobattle allows me to get close to my attrition of 120 but yes, after 10 minutes it is boring. However I simply do not have the time to manual GE, GBG, PvP and QI. The game would need a radical redesign to make manual feasible. If it was a matter of 20 manuals a day that would be fine. I do that in the early stages of QI and sometimes the end but currently it is another overhead that squeezes my available time. I've spent about £150 in the past year buying diamonds at 200% bonus a couple of times and a couple of times the event pass. I'm happy with this. What I'm not happy about is the increasing drain on my time. It's not just the people who spend who get an advantage. It's also those who seem to be able to spend many hours a day on the game. If I did not have a job and family I might be able to become a f2p player too. I dread GE10 and the prospect of ascended settlement buildings needing continuous play to get. P.S. I spent money after coming back to the game following a year's break. I could not do GE5 and my entire city was outdated so I decided to short cut a catch up with cash. I got 4 gold league buildings. It was upfront and I haven't spent the past few months as I now have more event buildings than I can put down. I would however probably buy more diamonds if that 200% offer ever comes around again.
I don't think Autobattle is the problem by itself. If I have hundreds or thousands of boosts, there's very little difference between manual or auto. Going through all my attrition in GBG would be a massive pain, if I had to do all my fights manually, and it would still not be a challenge. QI Autobattle already has the same disadvantage as any other, the AI. Yes, you can autobattle, but you'll lose more than you'd lose normally, and you still need to build up your settlement to compete the whole Incursion. But I agree on making the QI boosts less common (Though, from business point, they need to introduce rewards for a new feature, as that's where the demand is) You already get bonuses for having an efficient city, and it's called "more space". Just because all new buildings are OP as heck doesn't mean it's not there. It's just the old Powercreep issue once again. The same old buildings can't be offered forever, and no one would go for new stuff if it wasn't better than the previous. I think buildings with negative boosts in other fighting areas would be interesting. "Here you go, GBG boost, but you GE and QI will be lower cause of that". And speaking of GBG, it needs a massive reduction in either battles, or amount of clicks needed to fight. Up attrition scaling, reduce fights needed for a sector, and boost the rewards a bit, so people still play
I played foe since 2013, i have tried to build a long term city, with my mates, my team we always have fun competition with other guilds. Our goal is like Champions League on football. We educate long term player's for the game. Then at the level of Future age we send them away to other guilds, in return for favours, involving large amounts of foe points, or goods from futures eras. This way our goal has been funny and prosperous.
I have a slightly different take on the auto-battle feature so prevalent in the current FoE meta. I see it as more a means to an end, rather than any sort of real focus. For example, in GBG getting a decent attack boost so you can auto-battle to relatively high attrition is very important, but just as important as spamming troops is knowing which troop combos to use for any and all situations, when to hold vs. when to flip a tile, which sectors to target in the first place, and how to time it just right so that you basically "block and tackle" enemy guilds as much as possible, while giving your guild the best possible strategic position. I'm honestly pretty tired of hearing otherwise knowledgeable players disparage things like GBG as pure "troop spamming" when that is merely a single prerequisite among many needed to truly excel at a high level. There is actually a LOT of strategy and tactical awareness needed to perform at a high level. High attack boost and quick auto-battling is almost of secondary concern, since it's pretty much a given (in Diamond league) anyway. BUT all that said, I do hear exactly what Uber is saying here, and I generally agree that the auto-battle feature has maybe become a bit too ubiquitous (and one-dimensional). I also thought that QI could be a great way to sort of resurrect the need for manually fighting and enjoying that part of the game more, but the "attack boost" model (which leads to more auto-fighting) is probably just too lucrative for Inno to up. It doesn't really bother me as much as some, but I do get it. I have my hands full managing 5 cities, doing 5 levels of GE in every city weekly, GBG and events in each, cultural settlements in 4/5, and QI in 1, it's a lot. If this game were any more involved, I'd probably have to quit altogether, because there's simply not enough time in the day. Point being, so much of your enjoyment of this game depends on how much time and energy you truly have to devote to it. It can be as one-dimensional or as complex and challenging as you want it to be, essentially.
I like the auto battle function very much, but i agree with you that it's boring. I would love to see its streamlined even more with features like army-presets, meaning you tap 1 button and a pre-selected army gets selected from your healthy units. This doesn't make 200 Battles in GBG inherently fun, but way less tedious.
I feel absouletly tha same. I started playing in 2015-16, and skipped the last 4-5 years. When I returned last spring (I was bored in school) I was astounded since the game changed so much. No arc, town chhuck full of shrines of knowledge and all GBs below 10. I was in FE. Then I found a very friendly guild. They helped me get stuff, they kept me entertained and I was very active until last december. The spark had died again in me. I didn't want to spend 30 minutes a day spamming auto battle doing 400 attacks in gbg, and ge. PvP tower rewards are useless, and I climber a couple of times to 100k points, seeing no rewards made it even more boring. Tech tree was slow (due to the special goods) and it was unrewarding. When QI was introduced I was over the moon. I played the entire thing from start to finish in the first rotation/cycle/whatever, but I spent too many special coins and I had no way of getting even close to my first attempt's reward and combat level in my second playthrough. It slowed down so much, I was bored on week 2 already. I love manual battling but there's no variety, ballistas and archers are op, the rest are useless and you can't finish a battle on the 2nd level without losing more than 1 horseman, soldier or legionnaire. The 4-10 hour collection times are too long for me so I couldn't even restore my army quick enough. But my main issue with QI is the 10 day cycle. Losing all your progress and starting from 0 is awful. You have to start your city, optimise it, get a couple good harvests and battle days and then comes the wipe day. I was more hyped for this feature than anything FoE has ever introduced and the 10 day cycle immediately drained all the fun out of it (for me). The events are repetitive, and even the ones that introduce something new are lackluster. Having to play the same event up to 2 times a year is very disappointing especially if it's the pirate/winter event where there's no strategy, gameplay, just button spamming. I loved the halloween event last year, it became my second gold-tier gamemode after the soccer event (I'm f2p too). But this history event is just painfully bad compared to the halloween one. I am playing the game on hold again. One year was enough to compensate for the 6-7 that I skipped and I don't think I'll return to the game fully anytime soon. It's just ridiculously bland.
I think a key to making manual fighting work is to have each battle mean a lot. If you have to do 30-40 fights per day like in QI then manually doing it 35 times is already not very appealing and each is just 1% progress on one node. It is of course miles better than gbg, but it's still too much to be a fun alternative. If they had something like 5 battles per day where even good players might lose due to bad rng enemy movements, then that would be great. I really don't like your pvp ideas about plunder. I played a game like that once. There was a pvp shield that cost premium currency. You got just enough premium currency to keep it on 24/7. If you missed the shield refresh by 5 minutes your city was emptied of all resources, and your entire army was sent to the hospital by the whales, and you had to spend another week to get them back. In this game the pvp shield does not cost premium currency and even with your suggestion plunderers can't do as much damage as in those games, but events sometimes demand that you spend tavern coins, so in practice it will cost diamonds to keep the shield on and do events at the same time.
For me, personally, it's more about being competitive and to win. For now, mostly this means GBG and QI (GE lacks the rewards to make it interesting to bother winning). I do spend some on the game to speed up the progress and GBG can be costly too against a decent opponent. I also like that QI still requires some sort of skill to manually fight and have mixed feelings about making it easier with more boosts, though would be nice to make lvl10 more reachable without spending a lot, if not finishing it (as far as I can tell, finishing lvl10 is more about having wallet warriors and not strong/active members?). By the way, partly the reason Egypt is my favorite (least hated?) settlement is because the manual battles. After so many auto battles, it was nice to have some old-school manual battles, 3 a day, nothing crucial. As said, I wouldn’t want to do hundreds of manual battles, but it’s nice to have some and be reward for knowing the small things that makes it possible to win a tough battle.
Also a tip for making autobatling 500+ fights daily more bearable also a win for PC players is having a secondary tab with some music (for me is Sabaton usually)
I appreciate that everyone finds different things in the game enjoyable. And I am glad some people are having fun with the manual battles. But QI isn't any more of a challenge than Rock-Paper-Scissors. Once you figure out how to beat each combo and what your individual limits are, it is no different than GE or GBG...you'll want to get through it as fast as possible by building up boosts to auto-battle more. Let's consider the scenario where a player reaches their maximum progression in Level 4 of QI. But to get there, every 14 days they start over and have to manual battle XX times to get there. The manual battles are the same, the stopping point is the same, etc. With no change to boosts, that's exactly where this story ends. So as a dopamine delivery system, this is the boring part. Grinding and grinding for hours to get the "payoff" (getting to see if you can get 1 node farther than 14-days ago)...I'll pass.
The problem isn't autobattle itself. One could even imagine automating combat even further - this would also undermine the increasingly popular battle bots. And one could also strategically upgrade autobattle with better unit management, for example. The problem is the time difference between manual and automatic battles. This is so large that a meaningful coexistence is excluded. So it would make sense to force certain competitions or certain fights within a competition to be fought manually. However, the truth is that Innogames earns its money from players who are willing to pay for the prerequisites of autobattle, i.e. sufficient buffs, in one way or another. The statement that you don't pay anything for the game yourself may sound good, but it's not a sustainable business model that allows a game like Forge of Empires to survive for more than 10 years.
Honestly, I relate to this rant. I started playing FoE way back in 2012 then took a very long hiatus from 2014 to 2020. I have been playing since then, but the game I returned to was completely different from what I remembered. Back in the day you had to put in effort to build up your city and fight battles, with Great buildings actually being the most powerful buildings you can get and events being mostly a side-show with small rewards to boost you a little. However the game nowadays feels less like a city builder and more like a carnival simulator, where you play different mini-games every month to get insane event buildings and boosts, leading to cities looking like amusement parks that never change and battles where you no longer feel like a great general leading your heroic army against great enemies, but rather like a fat turnip pointing at a general direction for your army of terminators to annihilate
While QI is good for a while, the manual attack gets boring real fast. You only get 2 types of armies, so you can't experiment with different groupings. it's artillery and fast or artillery and ranged. I'm the highest or 2nd highest player in QI and I can't see that going on forever. Based on my last few months performance, I'm looking at about 70000 Qmedals per month (or maybe a little higher) and that is truly the only reason I'm playing, as I'm looking for non-diamond expansions. But to get 10 expansions will take me 63 YEARS to complete, so after the first few, I'll probably be bored enough with QI to give it up. Most of the players in 3 guilds don't even do much.
Yeah. I'm not concerned about QI getting more boosts. It needs auto to be viable for the feature to remain enjoyable. Manual works well for Guild Expedition and Egypt because *every* battle clears the entire thing you clicked on for those two features It's not nearly as meaningful to do manual in Quantum Incursions because you need 130 fights to clear the 1 node. No way I'm doing 130 manual fights and still calling it meaningful by the end of the first node, nevermind the rest of incursion.
@@mastervel7210 Well I totalled the cost of 10 expansions. The first takes 5 - 6 months. (400,000 QMedals) If I earn 140,000 per month then it would be about 3 months. But at 70,000 per month it would take a total of 757 months = 63 years..... At 140,000 per month it would be 31.5 months......
Glad I'm not the only one who is getting bored. To keep my mind busy I had some goals 2 years ago. Solo guild, 25 provinces in one day in GBG, 15k fights in one GBG competition without having Alcatraz. Once done, well, it is no fun anymore. I guess it is nicer to do just 5 fights a day, but fights where you have to think hard. On the other hand, Inno has to earn cash. So they 'stimulate' players to get their combat stats higher and higher. For me, I don't see the point in going for 3000% if I already have 2500%. So I more or less stopped fighting.
the game currently lacks tactical real challanges and social interaction, alot of it has to do with the progress towards extreme levels of automation and repetitve task mainly endless cklicks for the sole reason of satisfying short term brain stimulation (and profit to IG using this stratregy) rather than long term problem solving and social interaction and social cohesivness. many player i think, feel increasinly more isolated from each other and the game has become more and more tedious, boring, and new content lacks any new real challanges, creativity, and constructive ideas that helps to solve these issues, if anything the changes made the last few years have actually made these issues WORSE resulting in a large amount of both long term players and new players LEAVING the game (some of them spent money on it likly) or reducing game play substantially. Playing multiple worlds or playing different styles (mining, trader etc.) has become impossible due to the massive task of just keeping upp with the increasing load of extremly time intensive repetive minigames and quests such as endless events and new time intensive features such as "Quantun Incursions " and the "Rival Challange". FoE has become to overbearing, to predictable, to repetitive ,and focuse to much on short term stimulation, and spending of money by the single player, rather than a fine balalance between single player stimulation and team work, team challanges, and team social interaction (killing, then removing GvG a major factor in this).
I agree with your complaints on the auto-battle repetitiveness, but I have found that the whole city management part of the game remains interesting to me. I'm an Iron Age camper and I constantly have to re-org parts of my city to fit new things in. That creates another interesting aspect of the game for me as expansions are super limited.
First, let me say that I'm a really old guy. I came to FOE with a background in the early Apple II games, starting with the straight-up text based puzzles, through the turn based battle RPGs like Wizardry, Dungeons & Dragons and Might & Magic. I started in the late 1970's. One of the things I'm pretty good at, with that background, has been the GE & GBG battles. Now, I usually dispense with the early ones via autobattles, because of those high def/atk boosts from EBs & a few higher level GBs. I could manually battle, of course, but that WOULD be boring, since some of the wins would be 1-shot battles. The issue IMO, isn't the Building boosts. It's the huge boosts you have to deal with in GE 5 & with higher attrition in GBG. At some point, unless your boosts are really high, you just can't win, no matter how good you are with the turn based battles, because the other armies' atk/def boosts are 2 or more times greater than yours. In a way, considering the earlier RPGs, it's like attacking the big boss with your starting troops; no matter what you do, the boss def & atk are so strong, you're wiped out, if not in the first turn, then in the 2nd. Even before the boss is significantly damaged. I have no problem figuring out how to maneuver or which troop combinations to use against equivalent or even somewhat higher lvl troops. Not even with a 2 wave battle when my troops are limited to 1 set, no substitutions allowed, and if you survive the 1st atk, it costs diamonds (which I don't use on troop healing) to get back up to full strength. I can usually win when the opposition has up to 1.5 x my troops' atk/def values. But until Inno either limits the opposing armies' atk/def boosts, I'll take all of those I can get. And at some point, especially in GBG, almost anyone will have to go manual if you want to win. And, finally, in GBG, at some point, no matter what your boosts are, you just won't be able to. Just some thoughts on what I consider a pretty thoughtful video, thanks for it.
I have a pretty fun city-no special or great building, only tech tree. You are forced to manually fight because units are valuable and you barely have any attack boost. Goods, supplies and coins are a major bottleneck. If I had to do it again I would allow GBs but I already reached contemporary without them
The most fun part of this game is the Egyptian settlement and doing manual battles. However, even that can get old over time. As a longtime player since 2013, the most rewarding moment I ever had in the game was defeating the IndA bonus sectors that had over 100% military boosts with my 50% military boost IndA units.
this is why I quit there is no boost for better skill, better game knowledge, better strategy. the events don't change much,so many people seem to be so much better than you purely because they played longer&you don't want to spend all that time,it's just boring
I’ve played on and off since 2014. There are seasons of boredom. Seasons of fun play. I find that changing up goals: new and different make things fun again when I’m bored. You’ve got to make your own most of the time because new features aren’t happening often. But I’m glad your having fun with QI! 👍
I recently went over 100,000 FPs in the bank. I feel really good about that. I'm going to add another level on my Arc when I see 110,000 in the bank. My next level will cost me almost 10,000 FPs in the 1.9.
They should make manual battle worth more points towards whatever goal. The time it takes for 1 manual battle should be close to equal the points someone gains from autobattle for the same time frame. There are many broken systems and incentives within the game. What is the point of blue vs red battle stats. Not like the troops themselves are different and not like they are all gonna swap armor and weapons before "defending". Also in QI and GE5, the player is initiating the battle, yet we are using "defense" blue stats. It's all kinda silly really
As a relative newbie, I'm autobattling because I can't find a decent explanation for manual starting from the very earliest battle experiences/ages. Long-time players' videos tend to run at full throttle without considering new players who don't have the mechanics of manual battling under their belts, and losing all our troops over and over while we try to figure it out isn't fun. I'm in the Egyptian settlements at the moment and I can only do the first two battles on auto, and the third is not an option which then delays me competing to finish in gold. It would be great to see a slow-paced video that explains the mechanics, who starts, what happens between troops etc, that helps us get the confidence.
I just left the game after 4 years... They have a bunch of new stuff, and it takes way too much of my time. I didn't want to do more settlements or Quantum. Attack boosts almost mean nothing after a certain point. SORRY done and I gave my account to one of my guild mates lol, keep it! Thanks for all the tips bro. Forge on!
I think one thing they made very clever with QI is that they have the ability to add new incursions that are adjusted for the new base QI boost that most people have, so when we do have eg 500% at the start of a round picking the bronze age incursion means your guild could fly to level 10, but picking the future era incursion would be nigh impossible.
9 years ago when I started playing it was harder to pass through ages, your city barely made any fp and you had to make your own goods, getting plundered was worse back then because you had goods factories in the town, now you make thousands of goods from events and from figting in the diamond guild you get 100 many times, restarted a secondary world I deleted and after 120 days I'm in AF with thousands of goods from many ages with a few exceptions. It became so easy, it's no longer a challenge. As a f2p player I had and still have some fun trying to make a strong city and I would say I acomplished that. I'm still a bit sad for GvG it was fun while it lasted and it helped to make some good friendships in my guild. Hope they don't mess with GbG more than they allready did. One thing I see happening in the future that I don't like is that if Inno keeps adding buildings with QI boosts only to the gold league in events it will only widen the gap between how much p2w players and f2p payers can do in Qi
I’ve been playing FOE since 2015, before Arc or FE was even in the game and I’m also getting pretty bored with the game. Just not for the same reasons. I got into the game because I loved progressing up the tech tree and building out my city from the tech tree buildings and event buildings. I love the leveling up of the buildings and how satisfying that is. You used to be able to do an event casually and still end up with the max level building pretty easily. Not so much anymore. Nowadays with the whole golden & silver upgrades and stinginess of event progress, it feels like you need to use a specific strategy that employs all your free time just to get the rewards and I just don’t have that time! I’ve never cared much for battling. I’ve always sucked at manual battles so I love the auto battle button. So it should be no surprise that I also despise QI. The whole concept of it is incredibly tedious with almost everything being ten hour production times. If you miss even one while you’re building out your city you’re essentially SOL compared to everyone else in the guild who spends all their time playing the game. And then of course there’s the manual battles, ugh. Then you throw in GE, GBG, the colony, settlements, PvP tower and there’s just too many menial time sinks one has to keep up with if one wants to stay in a top guild. I used to have 4 worlds where I could do events and keep up with everything. Now I’m down to 1. Maybe bored isn’t the right word, maybe burned out is more appropriate. With all the things nagging you for attention that just aren’t fun if you want to keep up, it saps away time from what I actually enjoyed in the game in the first place and makes me not want to play as often anymore
sorry, I love this auto things (battle, help neighbours). I am a Simcity type player, just wanna build nice things and upgrading, reap rewards, chat with guildmates and enjoy the war (not battles). I do sometimes manual fights, when I have nothing to do
Yes I agree my attrition is 100 so I have to spend a lot of time to just use it I used to nego the first 10 attrition now that takes forever I like the new quantum the fact that it restarts every week keeps it fresh but even that is becoming boring you can only go so far before you get wiped out the changes are nice because I only have time for one world again but it still takes forever like you I have been playing for years one plus I have so much space in my city now that I can put any new building or gb in
I have NO time for manually battling. I like the AUTO battle button. In GBG, you need the AUTO battle button to win tiles. FoE is still fun for me. I get to manage and build my city and help improve my guilds.
You forgot one thing, Uber. Manual battles were always boring. Sure, it may be less boring than autobattle, but FoE still features the same, simplistic hex-based grid and boring mechanics as when it first started. There are no special unit abilities, no "spells", no "doctrines", no army "commander" overseeing the battlefield, no traps, no way to slow down the enemies, units always start in the same spot, there is no morale, hit point "shields" are never used because almost no one uses drummers, critical hits are poorly balanced (keen eye, anyone?), terrain doesn't offer much depth, etc., etc. And the enemy AI is so dreadfully stupid. If you think manual battles are fun, maybe you should try real turn-based strategy games instead of the dumbed-down ersatz FoE is. Even Heroes of Might and Magic II had much more interesting combat than FoE, and that game is almost thirty years old! As it stands, Inno will never improve manual combat so better deal with it and focus on other parts of the game or move on.
I would have liked to see Units in QI have battle skills that the computer won't use. At the same time the enemies should be a lot stronger. That would reward manual fights and make them more interesting.
Auto battle saves time. If there were limited battles per day, say 30, and manually was more effective than automatic, people would do them. But you haven't the time to do 800 battles a day manually. They should cap that, in my opinion, that would make GBG more just and competitive. You have players that pour money into events and stuff, fly throught the eras and get all those buildings that allow them to fight a lot in GBG. But Inno wants that profit, so I don't see battle capping any time soon.
An easy way to somewhat fix this problem is for attrition to increase faster in GBG. Nobody should be sitting in front of their phones/computers and doing auto-battles for 30 minutes straight.
I think Inno should make massive improvemant of PvP arena: first - rewards should be much better.. and also we should have real fights person vs person without autobattle
@@UBERnerd14, any. But my guild hasn't got to the much more difficult levels like 9 yet. Perhaps I'd find that more challenging. That said, I think most people playing the game will be able to auto-battle during their QI play.
But once you figure out optimal manual battle, that too becomes boring, even more tedious tbh. It would be a huge improvement to battle if Inno made it head to head on an even field, as some other games. Also the Event buildings are removing building strategies/challenges..
I got nothing against autobattling, I like it. don't have the patience to fight manualy, only fight myself in GE V,QI, used to fight neighbors manually when I had the patience to mess with them. About QI I agree it shouldn't be autobattled but in my guild the top players did a lot af fighting and they didn't do them on manual, it wouldn't have been possible for them to do that.
QI (Qantum Incursions a.k.a. Guild Raids) could be good if they stop forcing players to re-develop same IA town over and over for the sole reason to compete on the map, that is not reducing repetition its increasing it..learn from your mistakes IG or you will keep losing players and money! also some nodes are to difficult, not all players have all of the settlements buildings and 3-4 training grounds! either make the harde rnodes easier by allowing people to negotiate them , use goods or give players more boosters or limited builings that do not decay and suck! a new GB next age that helps with fighting in QI wuldnt be a bad idea either. nobody want to spend money and time on an event for stuff that works for afew days then is worthless and has to be sold or deleted ! reward people that spent money and/or play the events!! , that will encourage more to play them and increase the # of player that may spend on any event. i f u want events to be interesting give people a reason to take part in them, dont give them useless rewards that they can get fromn their towns like upgrade kits or store building kits, this is fine for GE for those new player but for most player these rewards will not be worth the time or money it takes to compete in ANY event in the game!
Im with you ! Been playing the game 10 years and my only problem is... No having more expansion lands, abd the auto battle is 1 click you need to do 100 times ! I would love they implement an auto battle x100 ... that instead 100 click you do 1 click abd move to do thinks more important like organize your city efficient and looking awesome
I would disagree. Forge has always served that "log in for 15-20 minutes every so many hours. Most people dont have that time to sit there and manually fight 100s on batttles every single day in GBG, GE, PvP arena and now quantum. Its one of the reasons I don't even bither with quantum since its another confusing and time consuming feature. Besides having multiple cities, settlements and space age colonies there yet another thing to look after. Its juts too overwhelming
Yeah I dislike the QI so much from making that city every week to fighting battles with iron units when you're in SAT, the only nice thing is that if you don't want to fight you can wait for the donation nodes and do those instead.
Yes auto-battle takes less skill, but I find manual battle so so very boring! I can do it, but if that was the only option I wouldn't play. I play in the evenings when I've spent a day using my brain to problem solve at work. In the evening I'm looking for something to relax, not to stretch my brain even further. FOE gives me that relaxation, but I'm just not interested in having to think about manual battling. That's why I really didn't like QI when it came out, it just didn't give any relaxation at all. It's improved now there are more QI army bonuses but it's still not really the part of the game I like.
I just decided to tap out after 8 years of playing. I finally got to the end of Space Age Titan and decided that's it. The events they've been doing lately have been boring with no real cool prizes. They are just recycling events rather than creating new ones, and they are dull. It seems like they are focusing more on guild stuff and the quantum incursions which I have no interest in.
I'm a P2P player and have been playing for 5.5 years. I'm really frustrated with the game and am also bored. Personally I don't think I'm going to make it much longer. Inno is hyper focused on revenue and revenue only. They aren't interested in making the game better, just making it more monetizable. I hate the manual fighting in QI. It's a waste of time for me. I can appreciate having an interest in fighting and strategy, I'm just really surprised FoE is where you are looking to satisfy that style of play. The fighting mechanics are ancient, the troops get worse and end up being the absolute worst in SAT. My fear, or slow realization maybe, is that this game is 12 years old and I have no confidence Inno will give it the makeover it desperately needs. I'm not playing for fun right now, I'm just managing the time, money and effort I've put into the game. This is my situation and I hope others are in better places.
Wait until u hear someone saying that he "just" played event and didnt even understand how he ended up in golden league .Not only they spend but they think its natural too .And then they use ridiculous lies to cover it
QIblost the skill side when they took out the bonusses for using x2goods /units there is some skill in directing and choosing path for guild but not much also only 5k QAP per hpir howeber maby residencies you have.... it sucks
nobodys forces you to use the stats boosts though. put the expedition buildings in your inventory if you want the QI to be more challenging. i love the auto battle thing. the game is relaxing, calms my mind. i dont like mental exercises like space optimization, build and delete tasks in QI town. or the manual fighting thing. i therefor think it is good as it is. we both have a choice. i use stat boost as per my preference, you can do without.
Aren't you forced though? Yes, you can absolutely ignore boosts and just manually fight, but you would do much worse in the game. I wish it was more of a choice, with tradeoffs and benefits for each.
Spending a little money keeps the servers running, so I don’t mind paying a little. If everyone had the attitude of giving nothing back we might not have a game to play. I don’t really agree with you, the more work you make players do the less interested a lot of players become. I already dislike QI and don’t need more terrible content to do. It’s becoming like a job. QI is just settlements with extra work, and I despise those. If you’re bored then maybe it’s time to find another game, it happens to a lot of players in games when they achieve most of what there is to do.
our guild has gotten to the last 1,000,000 fight in QI every season so far. The QI is horrid. Sorry, not liking it at all. My city shows more 'neo' than the 3rd episode of the Matrix. My joy in the game is the finger in the door slamming sensation of training a team how to coordinate and cooperate in Gvg, now GbG.. I love the team play aspect and the coordination. The technical skill in Gvg where timing matters and EVERYONE shows up for the same fight was far better than GbG, but QI is like doing GE with 500 duct taped to your nethers.. makes moving slow, the rewards are far outscaling the skill needed, and just didn't add a moment of enjoyment to the game. It's just silliness and a simpletons game. Last time the game provided something new was the Promethium stuff in AF...Inno needs to break the frame somehow and not just reskin and recycle old content... I quit the game 2 years ago, but decided to give it one more goal. Joined a server that has no cultural rooting (when I joined L, I started 2 years into some epic drama.. stayed until 2022..rose to #4..) where I am now, it is interesting teaching the best I can while frustrated that the power creep is so extreme how I started wouldn't work anymore and I can't keep track of the dozens of new buildings every other month.. :)
Q.I. is designed to be EXACTLY what it is, comparable to GvG/GBg in EXACTLY the Opposite Way. Q.I. unites the Full Spectrum of Team Composition by including NEW Players & Bringing Settlement Tactics into the TEAM Activities of The Guild like GvG/GBg do but in ways not possible with GvG/GBg. Q.I. brings Much Needed Balance that Not Everyone Understands YET, Because... Q.I. is designed for NEW Players. Q.I. while still a bit BASIC & Could Use a bit more Flash is GREAT as it is for ALL Players, even those who don't Know it YET.
@@mastervel7210 then it needs to be at least a challenge. there is no team play, we just zerg through the first 5 levels by Monday and are done with 10 with a few days to play with the last sector.
Manual battling is too simple. It's just auto battling but slower and more. They have preset enemy armies. The AI does the same thing every time. You take a minute to learn what works with each enemy army and repeat indefinitely forever. It sucks, so much. Also, events are hardly skill based. Some try and pretend to be skill based like this current one, but it's really just basic critical thinking and rng. Most just pretty are rng like the Christmas event. I honestly just see this as coping, and I know that sounds toxic but I mean that in a genuine attempt to have a discussion way. Especially when you suggested plundering buildings to take boosts away. Just imagine that. You log on: let's do GE- oh wait I can't because I'm on level 4 and 50 neighbours plundered all of my military buuldings, guess I'll try and play tomorrow. Yikes Don't get me started on negotiating. Even auto battle spam is more fun than that.
Playing the same amount of time. And agree. It's more tedious than anything else. I do enjoy designing my city.
I autobattle just to save time. Manual fighting would need way less times per day and way more variety of tactics and terrain to be worth it.
You can also try to get to the highest age without doing more than X story quest(s) per unit of time, try to spend less than a week in every other age, or get to a point where you and a few other Players swap around buildings in your cities every couple days to make it a "find the difference between today and yesterday" game.
i have 2 goals, 1 is to reach the highest age which i do in en1 and another to can fights at the highest attrition( manuel) which i thought i would can get by filling the city with silk weaver experiums and bullion garrison until they nerver it
@@etfluezu9161 at the highest fighting manually and with no attrition reduction, 216
I hate negotiating. It's so slow and so rigged and it's just putting the same goods in a row 50 times a minute. Ugh
Thinking of quitting but cant quite bring myself to do it yet.
i'm hearing the same thing from so many members. why is FOE so hard to quit lol
But I agree on making the QI boosts less common (Though, from business point, they need to introduce rewards for a new feature, as that's where the demand is)
You already get bonuses for having an efficient city, and it's called "more space".
Well spoken ❤ Aber trotzdem: Das Spiel macht süchtig und so sitzen wir weiterhin davor und verklicken unsere wertvolle Lebenszeit.
@@etfluezu9161 define purposeful. Also, how about you do something more purposeful than telling people on the internet what to do with their lives.
Much MUCH Less than 63 Years 😂
Yeah. I'm not concerned about QI getting more boosts. It needs auto to be viable for the feature to remain enjoyable.
Manual works well for Guild Expedition and Egypt because *every* battle clears the entire thing you clicked on for those two features
It's not nearly as meaningful to do manual in Quantum Incursions because you need 130 fights to clear the 1 node.
At 140,000 per month it would be 31.5 months......
correction 31.5 years***
Glad I'm not the only one who is getting bored.
So I more or less stopped fighting.
the game currently lacks tactical real challanges and social interaction, alot of it has to do with the progress towards extreme levels of automation and repetitve task mainly endless cklicks for the sole reason of satisfying short term brain stimulation (and profit to IG using this stratregy) rather than long term problem solving and social interaction and social cohesivness.
many player i think, feel increasinly more isolated from each other and
the game has become more and more tedious, boring, and new content lacks any new real challanges, creativity, and constructive ideas that helps to solve these issues, if anything the changes made the last few years have actually made these issues WORSE resulting in a large amount of both long term players and new players LEAVING the game (some of them spent money on it likly) or reducing game play substantially.
I agree and thank you! What’s is incredibly painful is the upper level tech tree. For the love of all jumping pumpkins, why?
I agree with your complaints on the auto-battle repetitiveness, but I have found that the whole city management part of the game remains interesting to me. I'm an Iron Age camper and I constantly have to re-org parts of my city to fit new things in. That creates another interesting aspect of the game for me as expansions are super limited.
0:33 "Techtree buildings are few and far between"
*zooming into Blacksmith from Iron Age*
Because the original players are mostly gone and the player now wants everything given to them from the jump. Power creep has killed the game
Yeah I quit playing a couple of weeks ago, it’s a time waster and doesn’t make the positives of the game worth all that time each day.
If I had to do it again I would allow GBs but I already reached contemporary without them
they should change it to autobattle continuously until no units left
There should be a limit to the number of battles you can fight per day.
100% agree. I even posted on reddit asking them to limit boost. They are going down the wrong road.
I do sometimes manual fights, when I have nothing to do
Yes I agree my attrition is 100 so I have to spend a lot of time to just use it I used to nego the first 10 attrition now that takes forever I like the new quantum the fact that it restarts every week keeps it fresh but even that is becoming boring you can only go so far before you get wiped out the changes are nice because I only have time for one world again but it still takes forever like you I have been playing for years one plus I have so much space in my city now that I can put any new building or gb in
I quit a month ago. They've ruined the game.
This is why I switched and started primarily playing Rise of Cultures instead
Isn't that game battle system an auto battler? So it's more or less the same thing as auto battles here?
@@wisequigon yes and no. Their auto battle is a bit more involved than FoE auto-battle
I think Inno should make massive improvemant of PvP arena: first - rewards should be much better.. and also we should have real fights person vs person without autobattle
I only auto-battle in QI with only a Forgotten Temple, Royal Bathhouse, and sometimes a Tourney Grounds, and I _NEVER_ hurt for units, not ever.
At which levels?
@@UBERnerd14, any. But my guild hasn't got to the much more difficult levels like 9 yet. Perhaps I'd find that more challenging. That said, I think most people playing the game will be able to auto-battle during their QI play.
But once you figure out optimal manual battle, that too becomes boring, even more tedious tbh.
It would be a huge improvement to battle if Inno made it head to head on an even field, as some other games.
Also the Event buildings are removing building strategies/challenges..
QI will be similar to GE5…. It is a speed bump that 6 months from now won’t be much of a challenge at all.
Indeed, I just do what I can
Yeah I dislike the QI so much from making that city every week to fighting battles with iron units when you're in SAT, the only nice thing is that if you don't want to fight you can wait for the donation nodes and do those instead.
With the power creep they NEED to update de Antiques Shop, and the GBs, so they dont fall behind, Quantic expedition is boring tbh
well said that man ... sums up exactly how I feel
I've been playing since it was released. Arc was the start of the game's downfall
I get through GE in a couple days only with auto battle
I'm not bored of auto battling, it saves time. I am annoyed inno wants to push thos game to feel like a job.
Wait until u hear someone saying that he "just" played event and didnt even understand how he ended up in golden league .Not only they spend but they think its natural too .And then they use ridiculous lies to cover it
Current event: Every other task is gain 5000 happiness
I hit 1,000 attacks daily in GbG alone. If I had to manually battle all 1,000 of those I would just not play
Again, that's not the point of what this video is trying to say...
QIblost the skill side when they took out the bonusses for using x2goods /units
there is some skill in directing and choosing path for guild but not much
also only 5k QAP per hpir howeber maby residencies you have.... it sucks
nobodys forces you to use the stats boosts though. put the expedition buildings in your inventory if you want the QI to be more challenging. i love the auto battle thing. the game is relaxing, calms my mind. i dont like mental exercises like space optimization, build and delete tasks in QI town. or the manual fighting thing. i therefor think it is good as it is. we both have a choice. i use stat boost as per my preference, you can do without.
Aren't you forced though? Yes, you can absolutely ignore boosts and just manually fight, but you would do much worse in the game. I wish it was more of a choice, with tradeoffs and benefits for each.
The truth comes out!
And worst fun when you see someone try to autobattle with HAU
This is also the reason why many players end up using bots etc...
I personally hate the battle system. Its one of the reasons i dont like to play QI.
Never liked manual battle, takes to much time.
IQ is not fun, still battling over and over and over.
Well they might show us why they call themself 'inno'games.
our guild has gotten to the last 1,000,000 fight in QI every season so far.
💡REMEMBER: The NAME of The Game 😎👌
i agree
totally agree
Thou shalt not use Alabasters name in vain!
Yikes
Don't get me started on negotiating. Even auto battle spam is more fun than that.
Heart of the Rift and other top guilds caught cheating. Will Inno games allow this? Wait and see if they address it or not.
THATS WHAT IM SAYING
🤔 Im pretty sure Inno isn't forcing anyone to play, just sayin...
🤔 I'm pretty sure I never implied they were
Mars ore ruined game for me.
Autobattle's only fun with GVG
Also, everybody burns out in Forge of Empires at one point or another - It's normal to take a break if you need to
for the love of alabaster lmao never change uber
