I've played extensively with Dark Moon GS and Blasphemous Blade, and they are both great weapons, but I think DMGS is the stronger option all things considered. Blasphemous Blade has the HP recovery, good physical damage scaling for both STR and DEX, and a powerful fire Ash of War (great synergy with buffs like Flame Grant Me Strength), but the wind-up for Taker's Flames is slow and it fires a slow-moving ground-based wave that can't target specific body parts (like a dragon's head) and some enemies/bosses can avoid or dodge outright. Taker's Flames does have some useful knockback and the potential to hit multiple enemies, but it eats up a ton of FP and FTH builds have many other tools to deal fire damage. DMGS has so much going for it. FP efficiency, huge magic damage, the added benefit of Frostbite that deals damage based on max HP and lowers resistances (20% debuff) to make all your other damage numbers go up. It bypasses the need for MND or DEX investment for INT builds since you don't need a lot of FP or spellcasting speed. Its Ash attack has double-hit potential at close range with the blade+projectile. The ranged projectile by itself is fast, can be aimed at weak points high off the ground (and reliably hit them), and does a lot of stance damage. Its magic damage can be buffed by Shard talismans, Godfrey's Icon, Magic Scorpion Charm, Terra Magicka, Magic-Shrouding Tear, and Rogier's Spellblade set (plus the Ash counts as a weapon buff for a Somber weapon that can't otherwise receive one, so it stacks with body and aura buffs). Dark Moon Greatsword is quite simply THE legendary armament.
