Every morning this is the condition around the greens where I play. Every time my ball drops half way or so down in wet grass it's a problem for me. I want to say thanks for your vid on chipping in general. I watched it a month or so ago and you made it look so easy that I started practicing the method you showed. Big difference now in results and my confidence. Now I'm not just hoping to get on the green, I'm trying to hole that sucker.
Thanks for another great tip. I have been suffering all year with this aspect, but thanks to you I have made real progress and hopefully a lower handicap next season.
Thankyou Matt. I really liked these tips and tomorrow I am sure that I am going to remember them when playing in rainy weather.
Wish I watched this 3 hours ago…just pulled my hair out working at the short area at my local course since I’ve been having trouble with these shots recently on the course. I wound up doing just as you said…chunking a ton! I wound up just using a lower lofted club that slid better through muddy turf…I’ll have to try this as well. THANK YOU!!
These are the conditions 24/7/365 where I live. Really needed this video
I actually really like this guy. I'm a England golf amateur for my county and there are so many wannabe "pros" on here who actually don't consider peoples swings are not the same and make peoples swing worse and actually teaching them wrong. This guy is accurate.
Cheers, some wet weather here in the UK, has seen my chipping around the green go from steady to abysmal, i wasn't committing to the shots and was leading with the leading edge and getting punished with chips that literally just went 3 ft in front of me. I usually this time of year put the SM8s out the bag and go for something a little more fatter on the sole to help ( clevelands).
The video I needed!!
Thank you for the videos!!
Good advice. Thank you. I just wish our Autumn/Winter had blue skies, sunshine and was warm enough to play in a polo shirt
Very well. Thank you very much
Thanks, I'll give it a go.
excellent, thanks another good video
I realised i’ve always used the ”palm up” even on chips when the grass is dry. Is that bad? I feel like i don’t flip the club at all
Thanks for the tips ⛳🏌️♀️🏌️🏌️♂️
Does the same principle applies to a hard-pan mudy lie with barely enough grass? I typically blade the ball. 😣
I'm going to try this today, yesterday I had these sloppy lies, and chunked 5 out of 7 of them. So I'm hoping this will help me big time.
Cold as a freezer out here on the east coast, but hope to try it soon. Will probably try it on good lyes too.
Thanks Matt , I've always struggled with that shot mate , problem solved & hi from tweed heads Australia 🇦🇺
Hi.. from coffs harbour! Good luck tomorrow.
Playing in Scotland this is the tip I need all year round. Cheers!
My short game has really improved watching this channel!
Great thank you
Good tip. Lost count of all the 10-20cm chips ive done this year.
Winter tips whilst playing in a T Shirt 🤣. It was 32F when i teed off at the weekend in a Scotland 🏴!
Thank you
very useful video 👍
Good tips,
Thanks
Thanks for the right palm up tip. Key...
my favourite mentor
Based on your recommendation I bought the Mazel 45 degree chipper (squarestrike). What about that club in this situation?
I bought a pair of Athalonz shoes. VERY stable but dont fit my feet very well. If I ever get in a bind they'll likely get some use.
From those lies i play a chip putt using a 4 iron hybrid. I find it safer and more reliable. Your method works well too.
Can you also talk about what club you use and where you want the ball to land? Also, what different clubs you consider with the same question of ball flight and roll goals?
I just moved and the courses I play now have tight lies that are often soft. I keep duffin' these shots. Do I try to hit ball first with descending angle of attack? Or do I go shallow and use bounce? What sort of bounce angle is best? It's killing my scores
What are the pro's/con's of 2 different degrees of loft on a 3 wood? 15 down to 13!
TY as always Mr. Short game!!! Great TIP! I appreciate your passion for the game and that you're always helping and sharing to help US improve....Greetings from Hobe Sound, FL :D
normally you tell use club advise, I assume this shot you would use your most loft wedge? can you tell us what your wedges are bounces, degrees, grinds? thx
What d3egree of Bounce is ideal for this shot?
My course here is kept way too wet on some days and my score just rockets on those days cos i am duffing all my irons and wedges. This tip may help change my score.
Would like to get the same perspective but on 60 yard pitch shots
Do you have a video already of the same conditions, but being about 50-75 yards out?
Rich Jones - this would be very helpful too.
Should I use less loft in these conditions?
G'day Mat
In the land down under "Australia "
We are in the worst drought recorded so hitting shots off tight lies
Send some rain please
Looked like you had some grass to slip the club underneath the ball to use the bounce. How different would it be if that was a tight lie with the same wet turf. That’s my nightmare scenario around the greens. Hello hybrid😂😂
I bought a 65 degree wedge with a huge sole and just slide it through everything.
When is the next live podcast coming please please please can we get one soon
Ugh, where was this video 2 weeks ago when I bladed and chunked every shot around the green and shot my worst round all year D: Fall golf giveth.... and fall golf taketh.
I love how he tees up the ball before he demonstrates the “bad” lie.
A bump and run by brushing it through solves your agony for using a wedge in this situation.
All those lies looked pretty good what about if it’s sitting down on a muddy lie with thick grass around it?
We got snow in vt cant even try this
What club are you using in this ideo? Loft and bounce?
This is a 60 degree with 12 bounce
@@MrShortGame Thanks Matt. Hope play like you. 😊
No. 4: play with clean grooves!
👍
Very useful! Thank you ! #subforgolf #alloverthegolf
I simply switch from a high lofted wedge to an 8 or 9 iron.Shorter swing, more consistency.
E.L.Dorado agreed !
Yup 8 iron is perfect
Same here, great choice since it’s damp and will roll less. But when I’m short-sided and have a down hill, this comes into play.
@@bigal1419
When short-sided,I still use a 9 iron but I land it on the fringe to slow it down which is still an easier shot than hitting a high lofted wedge with a big swing.
Very similar to chipping in general...two words for chipping in the winter time - WINTER RULES...
We can't see the club, due to the wording, not good..
Wear brown or black pants, dark shirts, walk up to the ball, pick it up and place it on a nice piece of dry turf. Enjoy the extra time not doing laundry.
Man what was that wallet called you had on another video it would ring your phone if you lost your phone or vice versa
Skip to 1:40
Sorry mate but I live in in England the UK that is not soft muddy ground soft muddy ground has no grass on it is bumped bumpy all over and then just thick of mud that to me perfectly golf Lie
Golf stereotypes? soon? never? Now?
What if you’re shit at golf
R u Michael breed younger brother?
This video should be half the length that it is. Blah blah blah blah. Not one instruction until 4:00
LOL this is a bad winter lie? Not sure if you've spent much time in the NW... You'd be lucky to have a lie that good more than half the year. Need a video on what to do when the ball is almost entirely submerged.
How to absolutely never ever again decelerate? An elongated follow through ?
Just avoid those unpleasant lies in the first place.
I want to see the instructor just walk up and throw the balls down at random, not nudge it with the club for a preferred lie...not how golf works
Wet muddy wintery lie but you’re still wearing a T-shirt!!! I hate ya!! 🤪
Try wet muddy and wintery over here in Ireland where you have to wear under armour cold gear and the like to stay warm. Plus the ball travels 20 yards less because of cold damp air!!!
Man you content is great but you are making a huge mistake if you are trying to get subscribers : first you need to deliver, then you can ask. In this video it's exactly the opposite for a viewer and not productive for you. Just my advice, keep going because great content, thanks for sharing.
Mate less chat more show. Lost me after a couple of minutes
16 seconds into video....IMHO.....That is not golf. Playing out of a soggy mud hole is not golf. Get real...just move it to nearest dry grass an enjoy your golf.
Great thank you
