I'd like to say MadTV was ahead of it's time but I think they were just paying closer attention than the rest of us. I'll take this over SNL any day. Fearless comedy at it's peak. AND this was on a channel everyone had. Even the kids in the country with rabbit ears. So good!! Couldn't watch SNL without a rooftop antenna but I sure could watch Fox. And only Fox... Until I figured out how to splice cables.
SNL banks on having big name celebrity guests, but I've always preferred MadTv bc they actors worked together and the skits were kinda crazy sometimes lol
Olestra was so popular for that short period in the late 90s! It was advertised all over. Of course, it was discontinued because it was found to cause severe digestive problems in most people that ate it. That's obviously what the first skit is poking fun at! 😂
nope, you were hoodwinked. olestra was actually okay, but it threatened a whole bunch of oil manufacturers and they started a vicious smear campaign. neither I nor anyone *YOU* know has ever had gastrointestinal issues and fatty stool. i actually thought they were the best chips in the entire universe.
It would be fine. Relax. 🙄 South Park and family guy both make jokes on all these subjects, and the only people who want to cancel any of them are conservative religious fanatics.
@Jasonellenberg3261 lol I always thought it was a reference to John Candy’s character/movie Uncle Buck… but the Chris Farley option would make the lotion scene make more sense.
Originally marketed as a diet aid, Olestra did, in fact, cause anal leakage. This product had heavy promotion until people started sh*ting themselves. Years later, it was re-packaged and sold as a factory machine lubricant. And it worked!

It's not offensive comedy. It's just surreal.
@_KHANGELANI He never talked about it being offensive or not, just people finding this funny or not. You can find something not funny without being offended by it. Grow up snowflake.
It is just a shame that some of these skits now would be considered too controversial, racist, abusive toward children, hating on war veterans, homophobic and so on. Freedom of speech is not alive and well anymore. I can see the downward spiral since the 90s.
i remember those olestra products. it was potato chips i think, ooof. it actually said on the commercial 'may causes anal leakage' 🤣 they didnt add that for this parody
