  • I'm a Victorinox fan and the the Victorinox SwissCard Lite is a marvel of modern engineering. It slips into your wallet just waiting to be used.
I tried to save a few bucks by buying my Victorinox SwissCard Lite from a secondary seller on Amazon, and I got THIS Chinese knockoff that pretends to be a true Victorinox product. Before I try to send it back...I thought I'd post this video to help out anyone else who thinks that they got a knockoff.
    True Victorinox SwissCard Lite Features
    -----------------------------------
    1. tweezers
    2. pressurized ballpoint pen
    3. pin stainless
    4. screwdriver
    5. screwdriver 3mm
    6. Phillips screwdriver
    7. Phillips screwdriver for PH1 and PH2
    8. excellent scissors
    9. LED, light white
    10. letter opener (blade)
    11. magnifying lens
    12. ruler (7.5cm)
    14. ruler (3 inches)
    Counterfeit "Chinese" Swisscard Lite
    ------------------------------------
    *Negative Differences*
-Case is Thicker (5mm instead of 3mm) and a lighter and more transparent blue.
-4-Blade Screwdriver falls out of the case, and doesn't have Victorinox Stamp.
-Blade: Cutting surface on wrong side of the tool. The Blade does not have the "choil", the divot between the sharp and where it enters the handle. The blade shank is a different shape.
-"Swiss Made" Logo is already wiping off.
    -Stainless steel pin: flimsier.
-Ball-point pen: slightly shorter (67mm instead of 69mm).
-Tweezers: The Metal is thinner, and the tool is shorter (40mm instead of 45mm).
-Magnifying Glass is does not focus well and is significantly smaller (11mm instead of 16mm).
-Scissors are thinner (1.5mm instead of 2mm) and don't cut so much as mangle. They don't "snap" into the slot.
-The Flashlight's button is made of the same clear plastic, and not black. The "arm" looks flimsier.
    *Improvements*
    -4-Blade Screwdriver is Magnetic
-The Knockoff contains a bonus tool not normally available in the SCL, the toothpick, which is grey instead of normal ivory.
-The Battery that came with the Chinese one was newer.

Thanks for that. I know the Chinese can produce some high quality too but this is not one of them. I've no problem with cheap copies - if they are cheap. The problem is if they are being sold as originals at the prices you can expect for an original. That's fraud pure & simple. Two things to look out for - if it's really cheap...well, join the dots. Also read the text carefully... they might have a disclaimer " this is not an original blah blah.."
You cannot go by the photo alone.

The Victorinox magnifying glass is actually quite good - but the one on the big Swiss Champ knife is excellent. It's like a jewellers loop. You can see really fine detail with it.

I know it's a dated vid but just wanted to comment that on an authentic Swiss Card Lite the writing pen is pressurized like Fisher space pens. Most ppl aren't aware of that so I thought I'd mention it. Victorinox is quality all around. And also I'm hearing that ppl are frequently receiving knockoffs on Amazon when they thought they were ordering a legit product. Not just Victorinox but for any kind of product. I had a friend who once ordered a $200 pair of Timberland boots from Amazon and received Chinese knockoffs. eBay is much better at controlling Chinese sellers from falsely advertising a product as authentic. Never heard of that crap happening on the Bay :)

You definitely can mess up a pen and tweezers. The Victorinox pen is pressurized, and I’ll bet the knockoff isn’t. It will run out faster and won’t write consistently.
The thinner knockoff tweezers look like the tips won’t align and grip as well.
The printing is also poor quality. It’s not crisp on the knockoff, and everything is thickened. They probably stole the art off the web, whereas Victorinox has their original vector art to use.
Also, did you check the rulers? Are both accurate?

    • @SecuritySpecial
      @SecuritySpecial 2 года назад +2

Ruler on the fake is far more accurate. My wife insists I’m only 3” whereas the China Swiss Card clone measures me at a far more realistic 8”…

1:37 Chinese screwdriver is magnetic one, not victorinox. You just assumed that magnetic is better so it's Victorinox the one with this superpower:p but I have original victorinox card (with all your prerequisites) and screwdriver is not magnetic:(

Thanks for a great comparison video. I’d certainly be raging if I bought a fake SC sold as an authentic Vicky card. I’ve noticed some resellers actually making the price seem compellingly authentic too (75% of rep seems too good to pass up!) But I bought an unbranded fake ! At a super cheap price!! And, for a good reason too !!! I wanted to see if I would actually find a use for this credit card sized tool ; so I popped the fake into my wallet and carried it with me for 12 months. I didn’t use it once in that time ! Thank goodness I didn’t pay loads of cash for the real Swiss Card (what a waste of money that would have been.) It’s an eye-catching gadget but it just doesn’t have the functional versatility of a decent multi tool. Mind you, despite agreeing with every comment in your video (and not being able to change the now flat battery in my fake) I still carry it in my wallet ! You kinda get used to having it with you all the time (even though it’s such atrocious quality). Maybe I should invest in an authentic Swiss Card Lite…

Even though the magnifying glass is useless, a bit of Scotch tape can keep the screwdriver from falling out and it can be used. (My wife kept the fake one in a little personal kit for a while.) My most-used tool on the Swiss card is the scissors. I love how they fit my [admittedly tiny] fingers, and I often end up opening packages or trimming my nails with them.

If you buy kit online from unknown retailers at a fraction of the cost and are shocked you get counterfeit goods, stop being so entitled, welcome to the real world. If you paid the going rate, not good. There was an avalanche of fake Bear Grylls knives at about the time this vid was made too, seen a fake blade shatter into a person's hand, even less good.
