    I have panic disorder, and I'd like to give some encouragement to others that have had panic attacks. It gets better! With therapy, relaxation techniques such as yoga, and paying more detailed attention to your mental health it will become much more livable. My first panic attack I actually had my wife call 911 and had EMS take me to the hospital because I swore I was having a heart attack. Since then I have had multiple panic attacks but they decreased in intensity as I became more accustomed to fighting them through what I mentioned above. It's a hard realization to come to that you may never lead a completely "normal" life again, however with some honest work on your part you can still function and find enjoyment in living!

      Have you considered trying desensitization. I am working on that now. I have panic attacks when I go to the doctors so my BP goes sky high, one of my treatments is going to the doctors more. The logic behind this is same as seeing a horror movie that scares you a lot, but the more I see one the less scary it becomes? I really want to get through this with out meds. I read your issue and I believe you can get completely better.

      Comments like these make me so unbelievably angry. What a hopeless goal. It gets “better”. I am “managing”. You aren’t better if this is how you define your success. If you were to go back in time to before you had issues and show yourself what your life looks like today, what would they think? Would it be normal? No. Would it be what they imagined? No. You are “managing” a BS illness and are not better. It seems like everyones success and words of encouragement is just them having fooled themselves into thinking that this is an acceptable way of living. To be truly healed would mean to not leave such a comment.

    I have been in the worst panic attack for a year. It all begin from a lot of stress of university study and i had a this lecturer who is always angry and he said to me that 'what are you doing here' and at that moment i thought he is telling me that i dont deserve to be there, so that was very hard for me to take in because i work so hard to get there and that day i had my first panic attack and it change my life forever. I remember the first day, time, place and situation when it happened. I couldn't bare the pain on my chest, a lot of worst feeling happened, sometimes i got lost inside my own mind for a 2 or 3 days and i was almost killed my self many times, but being a christian hold me not to do it.
    But one thing i understand about it is, i feel better when i have someone arround me. I met my boyfreind a couple of months ago and i am doing very good. Now i don't panic frequently, and he is with me when i do.

I went to the doctor right after the attack happened and they said I’ll be normal in a couple of days but i haven’t been normal for a couple of weeks. I had panic attack after panic attack for the first 2 weeks made myself sick. The rest of the pregnancy was fine up until 37 weeks my fear of dying came into play. Then after I gave birth I felt fine for the first week then became septic from endometritis. I was scared so bad I was sent to the er I was cured then sent home with antibiotic I felt normal I felt fine then after I was completed with my antibiotic days later I had this weird feeling I fell to the ground started screaming because my insides got hot and I felt cold I told my friend take me to the hospital took me to the hospital got antibiotic sent home with me I had a uti infection. Then while I was home I had to go back the same day because I felt off they did everything everything was fine :/ but then when I was sent home I was scared frightened I was sleeping woke up scared felt like I was dying I called the paramedics said I was fine told my mom to take me to the hospital and now I’m in the hospital getting treated for an infection still and I still feel like I’m going to die 😭😭😭 hate this and now I’m feeling like all these events were panic issues but I never had panic attacks like these 😭

      Yeah it’s definitely not fun. My panic attacks started about two years ago. My word of advice is not to reward your body with fearing them. Easier said than done I know. But I think coming from a place of understanding them will give you peace. It’s just our survival instincts trying to help us. But they are a bit outdated for our current life. It’s like an over active fire alarm.
      For me, it was my body’s way of telling me there was things in my life I wasn’t happy with. I wasn’t living true to myself. There was things I’m so used to ignoring, that couldn’t be ignored anymore. For me what helped was me digging deep and facing my demons. I had a lot of help thro muscle testing of my subconscious. There is method I used called NET, it took a while but it has results that changed my life. I didn’t choose the path of medication even at my worst when I would have 4/5 a day. This doesn’t get easier you just get stronger. Love yourself, you are your best friend. Show yourself some forgiveness on where you are in life and press forward to a life of happiness. You got this! It is a process and it’s good you are expressing your emotions because that’s been the hardest thing for me to be honest. It will take time but you will get thro it! Your not alone

    Why isn’t there more concrete research on this? I feel like an idiot / crazy trying to explain my panic attack experiences: intense, overwhelming sense of dread, fear, impending doom, shallow breathing and trembling in my arms, face, hands. Sometimes the more intense attacks feel as though there is an entity behind me or nearby that wants to cause me harm. I’m a normal, functioning, sane person yet I have these attacks every few months. They last 1-4 minutes and occur a handful or several times throughout a 24-48 hours period then nothing for a few months.

    What makes them so awful for me is I start to feel like I can't get air. Like a friggin lung has collapsed or something. Logically, I Kno that isn't so... But all logic flys away when I'm in panic mode. Then my heart starts palpating which makes me panic even more. (I've experienced tachycardia since the age of 18 & am on meds for it, my whole adult life..but feeling my ❤️ skip around sends me into terror thinking I'll go into tachycardia, and have to get that good awful shit that stops the heart so it can reset. It's a awful terrorizing feeling. Omg. I've had it several times thought my 49 yrs) but the palpations make my panic worse and it just fucking spirals. I was on Klonopin for almost 20 yrs. Low dose, 1/2 mg once a day. I took myself off 2 yrs ago, went vegan, stopped smoking, started meditation & yoga... So WHY had this panic disorder come back out of nowhere!? I controlled my anxiety with plain natural passion flower the past 2 yrs. Now I went to a doc again, he tried visterol, it just put me to sleep. Terrible. He tries buspar, did nothing. I don't want to take a SSRI again. I worked so hard to come off. And I know alot of ppl abuse Klonopin but it's the only thing I can just take a 1/2 of and stops panic immediately. I am going to ask my doc for a small amount per month. I don't know what else to do. I wish I could stop this awful disorder. Every woman in my family has had it!? I'd give anything to just be a calm peaceful person who didn't worry. I don't know where all this fear comes from? I'm sending love out to all suffering from this horrible affliction. U are not alone.

      I suffer from panic disorder aswell. I’ve been going thro it for about two years straight now. I’ve gotten it under control now, but it’s been a journey. I will get them time to time but not as bad as they used to be. I used to get them 3/4 or maybe more times a day. I chose not to go down the route of medication. I took more of a holistic and psychological approach. I worked with my chiropractor on this technique called NET. It’s what cured my psoriasis. It’s a really interesting process involving East and west styles of treatment. At its core it’s just subconscious muscle testing mixed with finding an lingering emotion tied to our childhood. Than the practitioner will click on certain pressure points, releasing that emotion. It’s all about finding a state of neutrality with what bothers you. There are a couple statements you can say, that really helped me. It usually is an ok statement that you can test. Here are some of the things I had a hard time dealing with that I made statements out of that really helped me. I’m ok with death, I’m ok with dying, I’m ok with not seeking panic, I’m ok releasing panic attacks, I’m ok with not having panic attacks, I’m ok with releasing fear, I’m ok not seeking fear. Those were some of the big ones with me but this process allowed me to really work on the things I wanted to make better. It really started helping when I allowed myself to be honest with where my pain was coming from, so I could understand it better.

      Some psychologists and psychiatrists do therapy over zoom. It depends on the mental health professional and the insurance provider of whether or not it’s offered. I’m considering doing it, but I don’t know if I should keep trying other ways to help myself first.

    I was diagnosed with this disorder by my psychiatrist after taking the MMPI. I was in my 50's, and the onset began after the freak, traumatic death of my 17 year old son 10 yeas prior. I am on Sertaline, and take 0.5 mg of Clonazepam when the attacks occur. She also taught me to deep breathe ( it takes practice!) and also there are many guided meditations available on RUclips that I find very beneficial as needed when going to sleep. There are also very short guided meditations for when I have to go somewhere I don't want to, or feel one coming on as long as I can catch it before it flips into an actual panic attack. Thank you.

I had a relapse last year and for the last few months I have panic attacks every day and am also afraid to leave my appartment. When I go to the elevator my legs are shaking, I'm trembling and also fear that I'm going to faint and go crazy. I also feel derealization and depersonalization. It's tough and tiring to live in fear all the time, but I have new medication now and am working on myself, so I hope i'll overcome it again. Great video.

    Exposure therapy is the answer to PD. Force yourself to focus on one panic attack for 20-30mins(until its over) everyday. After each time, it will get less and less intense until finally it will be gone completely. Do this for 4-8 weeks which is how long it takes the brain to rewire the neurons. Look straight into the fear and it will shrink like the lie you know it is, I promise!

    • @watson.w1258
      @watson.w1258 2 года назад +1

      Exactly. I suffered with PD for 2 years, as soon as I felt a panic attack coming on I would do everything in my power to try and stop it which only made it worse, I realised by accepting it and stop fighting it, slowly it got better. I don’t think I’ll ever be fully ‘cured’ but at least I know how to handle it better. Sometimes when the symptoms start I try to imagine I’m glued to the floor and sit still, forcing myself to endure it, and through this I realise I can handle it which in turn makes it less intense and more bearable.

    • @jeremy472
      @jeremy472 2 года назад

      @@watson.w1258 Yes! So glad you were able to find relief. Being 'Cured' may not be the right term for everyone. Some can experience full relief, others still have ligering triggers. Though I would always air on the side of optimism and suggest its possible that you simply need more exposure sessions.

And it can last until the event has no more chance of ending badly for me. Could take a month. Meds do not work at all particularly benzos. So i saw a doctor who gave me some medication, but the effects soon wore off. Searching one day I found a website that had a pretty good review recommending a product to treat my anxiety. I read the review and ended up trying out the method. The technique worked instantly! Because i'm not scared and know i can handle any attack, the attacks went away. If you want to learn more about what I used (Panic Away) here is where I saw the review TreatPanicAndAnxiety.blogspot.com . Not a big fan of talking about myself but I’d like to share my experience in the hopes that it may help somebody else or not feel alone.
    I had some traumatic things happen when I was a little child and the seperation with my parents and their hatred for each other, I was used as the pawn in the mix. Since I was about 4 I would always be really anxious and panicked especially going to my fathers. I’d forever fear that something would happen to my mum while I was away and I’d have to call her 4-5 times a day. This went on for years.
    I had to see a psychologist at 6 years old and I remember doing breathing techniques reccomended at the time. I remember having a huge panic attack at about 8 years old and running into my grandmothers bed worried that my body would stop breathing if I went to sleep.
    The early teenage years weren’t too bad, sort of grew out of them but then at work when I was 18 the big one hit me out of nowhere. Ambulance to the ER. My hands cramped like they’d never been before. All the other symptoms of a panic attack. Thought it was my heart and from that day I was never the same and haven’t been at now 30 years old. Constantly fearing that next panic attack or something happening to me.
    I’ve trialled different medications but the side effects rattle me and it’s hard enough being terrified of the anxiety but then to feel suicidal or add to your anxiety I could never properly stay on any medications. I resulted basically to alcohol use and gradually over the years it turned into a substance abuse problem. I used it for years to self medicate because for a time there it was the only thing that would make me feel normal and be able to function without all the negative feelings. What goes up must come down and the alcohol always made my anxiety and panic 10 times worse. It got to a point in my mid 20’s where I said to myself F this I can’t deal with this anymore. If I’m going to die whatever I’m not paying attention to it so for a few years I was preety good but then the panic eventually stepped back into my life helping somebody else going through one and I stress that I’ll never be free. It’s funny after all the years as a child I’d worry about something happening to my mum but in turn as I got older, that anxiety changed to something happening to me.
    I’m fit and healthy and yet I’ll think about something happening to me a million times a day. I’m always stressed about an early death and way too aware of my body signals. I swear my body actually makes pains and things up just because panic is so engrained in my biological make up.
    I haven’t found any answers so I’m sorry I can’t be of any help to anyone else. But I’ve worked out that when the panic attack creeps in I just run, literally wherever I am I just start running until I can return to a semi normal state. I’ve also noticed whenever my stomach is off, my anxiety is bad so gut health is extremely important. As a grown man I’ve cried many times in the shower apologising to the baby me because I didn’t deserve to be handed such poor coping mechanisms and such stress.
    Feel free to vent if you need to. I understand the pain of it all all too well. Take care everybody 😢❤

      It's crazy how stuff like this happens. But hey!! Realise you're getting a panic attack from thinking you might have a panic attack! That means it's all induced, there's nothing wrong with you. If you hadn't started watching this video, you wouldn't have felt that. You're just giving it importance because something at some point in your life led you to doubt your own strength, your own sanity, and now watching this reinforces the belief that there may be something wrong with you. In other words, you're the one who's giving this information credit. You can choose not to do so, because, hell, you're fine! There's nothing wrong with you, unless you convince yourself otherwise. It's not something that escapes your control. You get to choose :D Much love

    Is effector better than the others for panic attacks. Not worried about depression but want to feel normal with the panic attacks. I heard effexor balances the seratonin and norepinephrine, as I read none of the others mention norepinephrine

    • @stevenlupanko2983
      @stevenlupanko2983 Год назад

      I tried effoxor it was a totally mindblowing experience. Couldn't eat for 4 days sweating buckets made my panic attacks 10 fold so I simply stopped taking it. I then took lexapro that was OK but stopped working 4 month in , now I am on prozac for GAD and panic attacks its a 20-30 percent decrease in all my symptoms and 100 percent cure for digestive issues for me. It's like someone has turned down my sensitivity from 10 to 8 and instead of 4-6 hours to get to sleep its about 90mins. I personally wouldn't want to ever be without medication again. Effexor is highly affective for a friend of mine its different for everyone that takes it so don't be shy to chop and change because some people get lucky and find one that works great. I'd personally say try ssris first then snri's if they don't work. Setraline is pretty good too but truthfully the trick is to stay on them cos in principal they only work when you take them they have no curing capabilities at all. Stop taking them and the panic could come back worse.

      Hello. You’re not alone. What helps me I every day that I don’t die I think to my self “well. I didn’t get that heart attack I feared. Or stroke or whatever I’m fearing. So if I didn’t die yesterday, ot day before, or day before that, then I probably not going to die from it today. Or tomorrow or the next” separating fear from reality really helps! I hope you’re doing better!

    I started experiencing panic and anxiety attacks last year and I still suffer from them till this day. I'm not the same person I was before, so much has changed about me, I am suddenly so scared of everything, I don't want to do anything anymore, nothing interest ls me, I feel unmotivated and so on.
    I struggle a lot at night, sometimes I even get scared to fall asleep coz I feel like I'm gonna end up dying in my sleep so I always avoid going to sleep at night... But I do fall asleep eventually, sometimes in the morning around 5am.Right now it feels like my throat is closing in and it's a very scary feeling, it happens almost every night. I don't know what to do anymore. I have probably visited the different doctors about 11 times now. I don't even tell my family anymore when I experience an attack. The constant pain on the left side of my chest make it seem like I'm gonna end up having a heart attack or a stroke because of the tension headaches I also get and that all just makes everything worse.
    With experiencing panic attacks, i never know what to expect because it's always different, I often get scared that I'm gonna have a panic attack which makes me have a panic attack. I always feel like there's something medically wrong with me that the doctors are missing.
    I don't know what to do anymore.

      Hey, I’ve been having them for nearly a year now. There’s not too much you can do to fix them unfortunately. However, make sure your carers know and it might help to mark down when you have them so you can maybe find a trigger however there might not always be one. They are not a bad thing and as scary as it is when you’re having one you just have to remember nothing bad is going to happen. Keep going to counselling and whilst you’re having excuse yourself from the room if you can and either focus on your breathing or try to shift your focus to naturally calm yourself down. I sometimes find it useful to say the first three letters in the alphabet then take two deep breaths then say the next three letters of the alphabet and repeat. This helps with breathing and it’s really hard to remember the alphabet slowly so it shifts your mind thinking. It might not work and it could take a while to find something that does help but it will get better and try not to let panic attacks be the focus of your life and don’t let them derail your education as much as possible. (You might also want to get something just to fiddle with, and make sure you drink water when having them). Wish you all my best and I hope you get better with them soon ❤️

Now on fluvoxamine and its starting to feel better, side effects or eh but it helps tremendously. I was low on serotonin so i experienced much fatigue and anxiety and i tried different things like CBD nd hydroxyzine which helped for a short period of time. Best bet is regaining ur serotonin levels when in the midst of a panic disorder.
