I am curious why VKB chose not to have the exact same style of removable modules like on the MCG Ultimate. Its easier with no cables. Regardless still very exciting to have these options. Extends the life of your hardware and I love it. VKB proving why they're the best.
looks so cool, ordered one this morning. Have a tpedal mk3 that's been going strong for the better part of a decade. Hope I can get that kind of use out of this =D
Excellent. Please also add two or three way buttons as they are more tactile and easier for the muscle memory than just having several 5 way hats. They could be used as a boat switch, china hat, speedbrake and such. A latching option would be a plus but not necessary.
@@bodifx On many cases yes, but the TM Warthog china hat and the 3-way rocker on the Virpil Mongoost CM2 are much easier to use for a specific function than a 5 way hat that has two or three "unrelated" actions that you might press accidentally.
@@dasher113 there is a reason why there are 2/3 way switches on the real thing. Tactile feel is important. I’m not saying that you shouldnt be able to use a 5 way. I just want more options
I have to give credit, where credit is due. This is a killer feature. I don't even know what I'll do with all those buttons now. 🙂 And it supports so many 5-way hats! (I left the one 3-way for brakes, not to get overwhelmed myself.) BTW: the hat on the 3-way is fixed? I fear to pry it off. I wish in the future we will have additional options like 3-way with one non-momentary position (some air-brakes), or both positions fixed (some weapon selectors). But the way we can swap these is just incredible. This is innovation.
Whatever is not possible through hardware is definitely possible by software, so you could program any controls the way you like it. If not sure how ask our community on discord discord.gg/UJAdpdHpYm
So I got my Gladiator recently and this fine piece is ordered already. I wonder if we can change the button modules on the base someday, at least they look like they could be modular too
Hey! I love my STECS! :-) One question though, If I want to replace a module (e.g. a one way button to a 5 way switch) and then run the auto configuration - it will rearrange all virtual buttons so I have to remap my DCS config all over again. Is there a way to prevent that and only use unused virtual buttons instead of replacing existing ones? :-)
If you relocated the buttons between the physical and logical layers you'll have to rebuild your configuration after resetting to default. Otherwise there shouldn't be any issue with DCS other than binding the extra controls. Save your current profile in any case, so you'll have a backup if it goes wrong.
@@VKBSim Thanks for the quick response! Unfortunately it always messes up the button order of the STEM. The STECS works fine. I didn't remap anything on the STEM though.
@@w3z315 Shouldn't mess the buttons order, as the modules have reserved positions on the chart. Come on our discord server to check on it discord.gg/UJAdpdHpYm
The only thing I'll say I would love for this is if I could change the location of the analogue stick to mimic the F18 TDC on the front. Other than the previous sentence I am gonna save money for this without a doubt.
So is it possible to swap the cursor switch on the side with the sown switches in the front of the throttle? I’m used to cursor switch in the front so that I could use my index or middle finger, but it looks the cursor switch is located in the side.

I think the whole point of a 2/3 way would be to it not return to center by itself, otherwise it is just a 5way without one side and the center.

Very cool and one of the reasons I bent and bought this throttle.
genius stuff, thx
Can you install a second version of the lower module from the STECS standard, above with the brackets? Or does it have to be different?
The STECS could only run a single STEM, but you can add a NXT module - either the THQ, SEM or FSM-GA.
@VKBSim perfect, thank you so much for the help! The fsm-ga sure looks tempting. :)
Are the levers and grips reversable to use with the opposite hand?
What switches comes with Standard set? Do you need to buy additional 5-way or 3 way additionaly? Will it be possible to buy them alone?
All the models will have a complete description on the sellers' websites. It is possible to buy buttons as extras, yes.

If you're referring to the ministick, which is labeled OTS, then that's not swappable. The rest of the controls are.
Can the existing switches on the Stecs switch to different locations?
You mean to other button numbers? Then yes, it's possible, but hard to explain here, so please join our discord server discord.gg/UJAdpdHpYm

Whats the reason behind putting the selector on position 3? Is the Radio Button the third swappable Port?
No, for any button module swap you have to run through that sequence of buttons; that resets the internal structure, so the new layout is used.
