I appreciate T3 more now that I’m older. The ending was unexpected and it worked .
It's in a OK filming has fun moments it's nowhere near as good as the second one and it's not as good as the first one but it's fun and I'm like the sequels that would follow this at least it's respectful
The ending was something that everyone who remembers where they were on 9/11 felt very deeply in their guts. And it set the stage so well they could've closed the loop there and let the series be.
You forgot to mention that the only other actor other than Arnold Schwarzenegger to return was the actor who played Dr Silberman the psychiatrist.
Earl Boen, from the man with two brains
Well to be fair, the only two who even survived T2 were Furlong and Hamilton. And apparently they didn't want Furlong.
Yes and I love the part with him trying to explain away the events of Judgement Day like it never happened the Terminator wasn't real and all that and then Here Comes Arnie carrying that Giant coffin with the guns and everything and he just gets up and walks away
@@benvalenti8190 he ran away actually Lol...
I loved the fact that he was there to be a shoulder for Claire Danes, but he was the one who needed the shoulder lol
That was very honest of Furlong. I can’t imagine the pressure and disappointment he must have felt.
I loved T3 when it came out and still do. Let's face it, nothing was ever going to come close to T2. I just enjoyed T3 for what it was: a decent action movie.
Fail
I hated it when it came out. But over the years I’ve grown a new appreciation for it. You’re right. T2 is untouchable. T3 easily entertains though. And Arnold doesn’t disappoint.
I just couldn't buy Nick Stahl as John Connor. He is way too emo, especially compared to the rough Edward Furlong. Ruined the movie for me sadly.
@@JestersDeadUK further elaborates how the general online discourse is: gall with no intention for furthering the conversation.
T2-3d lived up to part 2 and if it would have turned into a feature length film it absolutely would have
Oh my god the piano theme at the end gave me some tears. I miss the feeling of being a kid watching these films. I’m glad my dad introduced me to the culture of the 80’s when I was a child in the early 2000’s. The terminator franchise along with Alien and Predator have been left in a dark fate.
Dirty Pair?
I love that deleted scene ... his accent is over the top but truly hilarious
AICNMurderMostFowl that was so funny
If memory serves it was actually an uncredited voice over by Samuel L Jackson
We can fix it.
It's a joke because in Austria Arnold's voice is considered hillbilly-ish due to how he talks, so they had a real hillbilly voice be changed to his.
Well, It HAD to be over the top....that prompted the developers to change it.
The moment he put on the sunglasses, the movie got me in for the ride.
It felt like, we just gonna have some fun with the story. And we did.
Having watched all of the Terminator movies, I can honestly say that 1 & 2 are really the only ones you really need... I do have 3 in my collection, but 1 & 2 are the only ones I watch regularly...
Solid ending, when the bombs fell.
Shaka, when the walls fell.

Ideally, the third Terminator film should have been the future war 'Loop Back' arc of the Trilogy to complete the self-fulfilling prophesy arc where John sends Kyle back to 1984 to start the cycle anew.
I am so alone in the world for I love Terminator 3 very well written considering the closer of T2, they did a good job explaining why T2 was not the end.
The one scene where Arnie is hanging on the champion truck hoist, He paid for a effect to be put in out of his own pocket. He really felt the special effect needed to be put into the movie.
He paid for the entire scene.
James Cameron was the one who told Arnie to ask for "a shit ton of money"
Cameron also has writing credit.
@@Baldmelon Gale Anne Hurd was producer of T3 (like T1 and T2), however Cameron didn't write T3's story.
@@Baldmelon because it uses characters he created.
As well he should. A) he is the entire franchise, and b) he was only paid $75,000 for the first Terminator, so it was totally fair
he was probably hoping they wouldn't be able to come up with the $$$ for Arnie and it would freeze the project, giving Cameron more time to get the rights back and make the movie he wanted to make. That almost feels like insider trading though..
Fun fact: Sgt Candy’s voice was provided by Samual L. Jackson
I did like it. The ending was great and Kristanna Loken's T-X killed it with Robert Patrick's T-1000 vibes all over it. Do wish it featured Furlong and Hamilton tho

Also.....Arnie paid for that whole giant crane running through the office building himself! He wanted that scene in and they didnt have the money for it.
Yeah, they were going to do it but the stunt driver crashed the first crane, so Arnie saved the day to get a new crane to do the scene.
I loved the special effects in T3. That crane scene, just pulverizing buildings, cars, trucks, and everything else is pretty good! The scene at the campsite, where they found the abandoned RV, and John, The Terminator, and Kathryn were talking about the nuclear war, was pretty dramatic. The truth came out in the RV on the way to CRS. John and Kathryn are married in the future. Also, the resistance captured The Terminator and reprogrammed him. There is a part of the movie that is simply not explained. How could John go to a vet where his future wife worked at, without knowing so? How did the Terminator know that both John AND Kathryn, as well as the TX, were there at the vet? Just a bit far-fetched. Or maybe, like time-travel movies, do people know where someone will be because of past experiences? I loved the nukes exploding towards the end. Very good special effects, but they would be awesome if Cameron woulda directed. The funny parts, like "Talk to the hand", Terminator's Elton John glasses, the way he forced the cop off his motorcycle, and the way he threw the firemen outta the firetruck were all comedy gold. Miss Loken's TX was awesome! The sinister ways she killed people were great! Killing Jose Barerra at the drive-thru at the burger joint, killing William and Elizabeth Anderson at their home, and killing Scott, Kate's fiance.
Ha ha ha Minty, you reminded me of the Talk to the hand scene. I remember seeing T3 on DVD and when the Talk to the hand part played I rewound and laughed so much I nearly died of laughter!!
Gotta feel bad for Furlong. His parents really set him up to fail.
That kid would have been one of the greatest actors of all time. Its a shame what happened to him in real life.
@@Crunchykyle He was a incredible talent and he still is. He's the type of celeb that would drink a beer with you. He's doing much better than he has been in the past 5 years. let's hope he can rebound.
The smile scene of T2, was in the director's cut.
Not the theatrical release. That director's cut of T2 is great!!!
I still don't get why this film is hated so much. The ending was unlike any other - a real twist. The genius of the final scenes - true horror to an audience filled with hope. The humor was well done. Satire... no younger director is ever able to pull off! It was still rooted in old style movie making, whereas the newer ones really work for the kids.
Hi Minty! Thanks for another great and informative video on one of the movies, I think, was awesome in the series.
I wasn't young when Terminator 3 came out and I loved every minute of it. The best part was it had a new message. Instead of beating to death, which became a tired cliche, "there's no fate but what we make" we get "we must rise and accept our destiny." The best sci-fi doesn't repeat itself to the point where the message is beaten to death. You have to be able to mix new messages into Old works. Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation does a wonderful job of doing this.
Genesis was a slap in the face with it resetting everything. I wanted more of what happened after Salvation but we never got it.
Maybe I am being too generous but Genesis always seemed like a good idea that got badly mishandled. SkyNet would have eventually realized that something was happening to thwart its time travel plans and would react to counter. This would have caused changes to the timeline. Unfortunately we got a train-wreck of a movie showing what those changes were.
Following Salvation would of been interesting I think, that movie get far too much flak it's really not that bad.
@jason lewis Hmm, that could of been a good film if done right, John had been there before hand, and heard all the stories from his Mother to, then saw the future fully, that could of been something there."
@@WolfkinNorthclaw It would have been alot better if they didn't have the half-man-half-terminator guy helping them, then his human side conquering his programming. Just felt a bit cheesey and rehashed like Arnie and John Connors roles got flipped with 'Marcus' and Kyle Reese, except Reese got to say "come with me if you want to live" which i'm sick of hearing. Thats one wee thing I really liked about T3, John says "if you want to live, get in!" instead
jason lewis not even
Awesome video. Love your channel and its very well done.
3 is definitely watchable, so that's something, considering the fact that you couldn't pay me to watch anything after Salvation.
T3 Wasn't really that bad. Granted it still recycles ideas from T2. But the fact it was the beginning of the future war with that ending of a nuclear war, and a sequel to the events of T2, makes this movie both a prequel and a sequel at the same time.
Agreed! T3 wasn't that bad. I also liked TX eliminating future lieutenants. Then the start of judgement day
Compared to the sequels I'm starting to appreciate this film a whole lot more. Its how I felt about Prometheus after watching Alien Covenant.
Agreed.
Dark fate is a rea t2 recycle film wit t3 recyxke scenes in dark fate
Randell Goering Yeah i thought the whole design and concept of the T-X being an anti-terminator was really cool. I was worried for Arnold in a lot of those scenes.
I think out of everything in T3 the Tx was well cast. She did a great job. Terrifying, Sexy, and convincing. Try and flirt then have your head torn off. And not a smile or grimace.
If your task is to blend in and disarm people sending a woman Terminator worked well. But a machine is still kinda cold and mechanical.
Word. She's my favorite terminator
i do not agree with a single word you just said. did you actually see the first 2 movies?
True. A shame it just didn't have the feeling of being a countdown.. Maybe, and this only just struck me actually, maybe she was TOO good. Something went wrong anyway, because her performance was very good.
But typical Hollywood.. We don't have the mother, who even in the second film was vulnerable because of her metal incarceration and instability.. We don't have the boy, who was a bit of a git, but likeable and genuine.. But said we are gonna make this film, as some kind of sequel, anyway.
As scary as a five year old boy. It doesnt work.
Her cold and mechanical disposition reminds me of my ex. Would literally rip your heart out without blinking an eye when you least expect it. lol
T1 and T2 couldn’t be Topped! But 3 was still good with action. Terminator Salvation was pretty good to.
Nostalgia alert! I can't believe this movie came out so long ago. When I think back to that time I think of my first motorbikes, playing Tony Hawk games and watching Star Wars prequels for the first time with old friends now moved away living separate lives; they are some of the first things that spring to mind. Amazing what changes in that passage of time.
Kristanna Loken was smokin hot back in those days.
Yes very!

C. Zatara - Wind Magnet devlog. That’s why I always liked this movie. I wasn’t expecting the twist at all. Nick Stahl did an amazing job at portraying the shock when it was revealed. Great way to end a film 👌
T3 rise of the machines was actually pretty good in my opinion. It had the impossible task of being a sequel T2 one of the greatest movies of all time

It's an 'algorithm' movie as proven on James Cameron's own website. This is a cynical Hollywood technique where you exactly copycat a previous movie scene for scene. When T3 is compared with T2 scene for scene it is an exact match. They simply remade T2.
@@johnellizz : I felt like it was a complete retread, only watered down. All the character moments were replaced with bad comedy. And T2 is full of great effects. The fight between Arnold and the TX is really bad. So much CGI clanging together. It looks like a cartoon. Terminator was never about CGI smashing into each other.

Great review man! I'm a HUGE Terminator fan, so much so I have a life size Endoskeleton in my living room, & I think this was a spot on review of the movie & the spirit of the vision of the creator- James Cameron. Great job Minty!

@@nthgth I bought mine 10 yrs ago. Certainly not cheap but has turned out to be a great investment. If you ever have the chance, try to get the model from "Sideshow"-the original WITHOUT the battle damage. That's the version that is REALLY going up in value over time. And it looks better as it shows the clean chrome of the endoskeleton. At 6"2, its really a show piece & will look great in your new home.

I'm not paying for that crap-- there are *already* strong, excellent female characters in existence like Ellen Ripley, or else ones they could develop-- i.e. She Hulk, Black Widow, etc. *without* usurping the bread n butter male characters!
It all goes back to one idiot: Kathlene Kennedy, CEO @ Disney. She's got a liberal agenda, and she doesn't give a rat's ass what she has to destroy to make it happen...

He had his Judgment Day!
Salvation was by far the only good one since T2
He won't bad mouth his colleagues it seems.
James Cameron’s opinion on all things terminator now is garbage.
Ben Hill Kevin Feige has shown his true colors. His “one of the guys baseball cap wearing” facade isn’t fooling anyone anymore. He’s not in comic movies for the love of the art, he just sees it as an easy market to exploit. He’s like a politician, only in it to line his pockets. Obviously everyone wants to make money, usually people choose, or try to, do it in a field they’re passionate about. He knows jack squat about comics and the character motivations.

To me Terminator 3 set up a great story line that they never used. At the end we see John Connor and Kate go into the bunker. Loved the first two, can barely remember this one.
I always remember 2 and 3 now now t 1 was rarely for me.
T3 is actually my favorite one! Good subtle jokes and a nice twist at the end.
The series has always touched on the concept that the cyberdyne systems model 101 all look like Arnold while the original film made it clear that they don't. Reese has a flashback moment remembering the dogs detecting a Terminator in their bunker played by a different actor and also explained to Sarah that he had to wait for the Terminator to zero in on her at the nightclub to identify him. Arnold Schwarzenegger talking with a southern accent would have been to corny anyway.
I always thought of it like this..
The endoskeleton is the T 800 and the model 101 is Arnold's features. So, there's gotta be different model numbers.
Good observation! Maybe Arnold was right when he said to his Conan crew, it was just some crappy movie....Ah, what does he know Original Terminator forever the best!!
That actor was Ahnolds buddy Franco Columbu…..
Maybe all this time traveling kinda messes up certain things like that Mike small details change cuz of alternate timelines and stuff
That was a different terminator in the flashback though. That was supposed to have had the rubber skin and easier to spot. I think.🤔
Parts of this movie were filmed in a town named Sunland/Tujunga in California…I lived a block away from the filming location...good memories

Sorry for the thread necromancy brother, just been watching a bunch of your videos lately. Keep up the great work!
The series will never end!. No matter how bad these movies are they deliver the intrigue of what could be. The ideas behind the first two movies are so thought-provoking that everybody thinks they can recreate that magic.
I actually think this was a decent sequel. Not even close to the quality of the first 2 but decent.
As a 00's sci fi action it holds it's own, obviously it doesn't compares to the Cameron movies, but you can enjoy it just watching it as a guilty pleasure
I agree. It's quite watchable and held together by good performances from the 3 leads. What it lacks is Cameron's impeccably sleek visual style and pacing. Mostow tries his best but he lacks Cameron's sense of design and rhythm. As a result T3 has not aged as well as T2 despite being made more recently.
@@MrPornoforpandas the thing is no one is ever, and I mean ever, going to be as good as James Cameron at making the story the action, or action an integral part of the story without it looking crap, my example would be your Avengers/ Marvel movies where they'll have a massive action scene where people die etc and biblical level of destruction, 5 minutes later they're all standing round talking like nothing has just happend, that's why a lot of those type movies if you watch them closely just feel like a collection of scened
@@starwarsroo2448 Well put. There really is only 1 James Cameron (cue South Park 'James Cameron' song).
@@MrPornoforpandas I go into a film thinking "I will be entertained" and bad things in a movie chip away at that starting point, so it's a long way down before I start feeling negative. I just went in hoping for a good time and NOTHING in this film started knocking points off for me. I enjoyed it all the way through, same with Salvation and Genisys. Rarely do films today have anything like the impact they had in a era where we were seeing stuff that we'd never seen before and after the 90s and the CGI revolution everything now seems homogeneous. T3 is a film I remember really well (coming at the start of the "Bland Era") and it holds up and also has more going on in it many films I've seen in the intervening years that I can barely remember. Critics go into a film looking for something to say about it, and it's so easy to be negative like many an internet critical wannabe. I feel lucky that I have the ability to enjoy so many films that other people deride and pity them on the fun they seem to miss. If there's one thing T3 gave us that I regret; I remember being impressed when the Terminators square off in the Skynet bathroom by how they were flinging each other brutally across the room but now every fight in Marvel or DC consists mainly of that, goodie runs at big villain monster and the monster throws them away into a wall or rock face or building. Goodie runs back while villain walks towards them, villain catches goodie and throws them away again. Seen that so many times now an I'm sick of it. Time to consign that fight style to the bin along with the ubiquitous fake-out death moment. "Oh the hero died saving my life, oh they're dead, they're dead. No they're fine, they weren't dead at all". Last time that happened I looked at my mates and said "How long d'you reckon before they're not really dead ?"

Have you seen Dark Fate?
My brother watched and recorded the movie. I tried to see it myself and didn't bother after 10 minutes. It's just a rehash of T1, T2, & T3 is a much much worse way.

I think Dark Fate is terrible, but don't think masterpiece should be used for any sequel after T2. They are all shit. And I don't think the old shit smells any better just because we got a brand new piece of shit to smell. They all smell and were made by non Terminator fans. That sgt Candy accent had me rolling 🤣. It was wise to cut that.
It's a good thing they didn't include that Arnie scene where they pattern the Terminators after him. For one thing it would've been inconsistent - It was SkyNet, itself, that created the Terminators after the near destruction of humanity, to root out surviving and resisting humans.
But, it was a funny cut scene, though. 😆
But how would SkyNet have selected Arnold's face and body type to house the endoskeleton? For me at least it makes sense that SkyNet would have kept the record and used it, knowing virtually no human still alive would recognize the body. For me at least, while humorous, is part of the cannon of the franchise. I'm content that it is a deleted extra and not part of the movie though.
@@loka7783 - Good points. But not all Terminators looked like Arnold. In the first film, there's a flashback (flash forward?), scene that shows a Terminator infiltrating a resistance bunker that Reese was in. It wasn't Arnold. Of course in later films, they made the whole assembly line of Arnolds, but I don't consider anything after T2 to be canon. It makes more sense that Arnold was just one model, one version of the Terms. They were made to infiltrate the resistance. If they all looked like Arnold, they'd be easy, REAL easy, to spot. It was the SkyNet super computer's idea, not the military's before the war.
Still think the cut scene was funny as hell.
I'm pretty sure they saved that deleted scene for the gag reel at the wrap party.
@@loka7783 : *canon*
The role of John Connor is pretty cursed.
Christian bale seems to be doing ok.
@@bigkmoviesandgames his meltdown rant about the lights was about as bad as he got
Jason Clarke seems to be ok as well.
I enjoyed it! The stunts were amazing and Arnie was as good as ever! I was simultaneously bummed and yet intrigued by the ending that I found powerful and moving as much as it was depressing. I also enjoyed Salvation.
That “ MEH” is the perfect description !!!
I love your videos; however, the director's name of TERMINATOR 3 is Jonathan Mostow and he's not directed HANCOCK; was Peter Berg
Actually the ending of T2 called for a sequel because John survives. Unless he created an alternate timeline.
The lack of chemistry was kind of the point.
@Minty Did you not do a review of T2 or did I miss it? I see 1 & 3, but 2 doesn't come up in search.
Honestly love Terminator but Ive never known that the smile scene in T2 was deleted until now bro.
Because Ive never seen a copy in my life since release without it ....crazy 😉✌️
At first, I kinda felt like Terminator 3 was nothing more than a remake of Terminator 2. However.. after watching it a few times, I've grown to like it.
It's better in a lot of ways
I like T3..
WHAT!!??
Ebert barely liked the FIRST Terminator movie, so, his reaction to this one is no surprise.
First one was truly the best
He was a hack anyways.
@@Maesterful agree
What do you mean?
Movies are subjective. Don't let critics think for you because you could miss a jem. (Generally speaking)
1:48 I liked how he purposely left out Salvation which is probably the best among them. Sarah Connor Chronicles was good too, but it was for TV though.
Nice work there on this sci-fi film from 2003, Minty. How about doing a video about V: The Original Miniseries?

Personally, I LOVED the Sargent Candy cut scene! I was laughing at the, "we can fix it," line talking about Candy's accent.

7:01 - Peter Berg directed "Hancock."
That music in the first and second terminator is amazing
U-571, Bon Jovi was in that!
