  • Enjoy this Hawker compilation from this spring and summer, in their final 5 months of revenue service (plus one test train from right near the end of the full-line shutdown)! Note that some Hawkers are making non-revenue moves on the line, and that they may make a return when service increases on the line this winter, due to delays with deliveries of the remaining CRRC trains replacing the Hawkers.

Can you do something similar for the red line 1800s?

This was filmed in the spring and summer. They have not run in revenue service since August but as of Saturday when I was there last, they still have at least 60 at Wellington Yard, of which at least 48 are operable and ready to go for service should they be needed.
It's possible a few may be used in revenue service during the weekday peak once the expected frequency increase takes effect in mid-December because they do not have enough CRRC trains to run an increased schedule as a result of delivery delays. In the meantime, Hawkers have made some non-revenue trips up and down the line since the shutdown ended.

@@walkingtransfer so is that mean they are gonna bring back orange line or no

@@superdenisworld7694 - that's up to the MBTA itself, but the answer is maybe. Logically, they would have to for a certain amount of
time once service increase, unless they choose to artificially limit service on the line to continue running only new trains.

@@walkingtransfer When I heard that the MBTA is sending most of the Hawker Siddeley 01200 series trains to scrap, I decided to go investigate at random times, though, the “only” way for me to legally do so, is to walk on that “pedestrian bridge” that’s located at Wellington station (so I can get a view from “above”).
The next ones to go to scrap were the ones that have been vandalized by graffiti.
I do hope the MBTA is planning on putting back the old Hawker Siddeley 01200 series trains into service, for at least a short time. Should they actually put them back into service (after August/September 2022), then that’ll be very interesting.
Rumor has it that a pair will eventually be sent over to the Seashore Trolley Museum (Kennebunkport, Maine), but that remains to be seen and yet to happen.

@@carlosaguilar6843 - a Hawker set was actually put into service on December 10th, led by 1304, when service was replaced by shuttles between Sullivan and North Station suspended between North Station and Back Bay.
It originated at Forest Hills and only got as far as Green Street before breaking down.
That said, if there is any service increase with the winter schedule (none so far but they may increase peak service some days) they'll have to run at least one or two Hawkers as there haven't been any CRRC deliveries since June.
