@KdramaIsLife: I think Ed is referring to all of the laughing scenes throughout the episode. Lou, Sue Ann, and Murray all had scenes of extensive laughter. In one scene Lou, full of giggles, says "Cut it out, Murray..." and the 2 continue laughing. The audience laughter adds to the time, also. In the funeral scene itself nobody laughs...until the iconic moment from Mary hits the screen.
love "chuckles bites the dust"! by the way, in this ep. we know that chuckles name was george, and his wife was louise. in an earlier episode, we met their daughter, Betty Bowerchuck (sp?), so the last name would be where his stage name came from.
I love Ed Asner and could listen to him tell stories forever and a day!
I just loved everyone on mary Tyler Moore
Chuckle is THE BEST episode EVER in Sitcom HISTORY, Period!!!! SO HILARIOUS!!! xoxo

He' Ed Freakin' Asner, Man!! Lou Grant himself!! Cut him some slack!! Loved the ep he was talking about too, just classic...
As Ed tells the story of how they padded an extra 5 minutes into the "Chuckles" episode, he pads at least an extra 2 minutes into his story.
You're listening too fast!
