People really take the Switch for granted. It’s more powerful than the Wii U, a console, while being a portable at the same time. It’s astounding tech we could only dream of less than 10 years ago.
exactly, it's very impressive technology, being able to play Home Console Quality games on the go is just amazing, if you told me this was gonna be possible oneday a few years ago I would've laughed, but it actually happened and it's awesome
Taken for granted? It's the fastest selling system of all time in the US and already surpassed LTD Wii U sales in less than a year. Quite the opposite, it's a huge success..
It'll never happen, but i'd gladly pay too much for it. I'm not a metal gear guy, but Platinum made something special there. I've played through the ps3 game (literally) at least 20 times. With Kojima gone, and Konami being a bunch of fools, i doubt Platinum ever gets that opportunity for a sequel, but i pray to gods i don't know, every night, in hopes it may happen. Here's hoping.
I like this format of your videos with the zoom ins for smartphone user pleasure. I almost always watch your videos on my iPhone and the zoom in works so well to show me the differences.
Can confirm. Switch dethroned the GameCube for me. And now the library has Bayonetta 3, every No More Heroes game, Nier Automata, Persona 5 Royal on top of everything else... just a golden age
I find it really interesting that the most comparable console versions of this game are between the most powerful current console and the weakest current console. Thank you for making this comparison video guys. This is one that I was really hoping that you'd do since I just played through Bayonetta on Xbox One X (which performed really well) and I've been really curious about the switch port ever since.
If that's true, Nintendo's main console is woefully underpowered and comparable to a handheld. Sad!!! Far cry from the days of Nintendo hardware dominance. No, docking a handheld doesn't turn it into a dedicated home console. Incorrect. Docking laptops are not "hybrid laptop desktop PCs" - they are laptops with a dock. This docking shit is not new. It's old. Docks don't turn products into totally other products. Nope. If TV mode meant home console, the Sony PSP would have been considered a home console. It's not. Never was. Never will be. "Hybrid" is a term made up to confuse consumers like yourself. It's like calling my dick a soda pop. Want a drink?
Joey Greathouse Elegant trolling good sir 8/10. Some areas could use a little improvement. Kinda like the Xbox ones exclusives. Wish Microsoft had more that I can play on my pc
Joey Greathouse No no. You don't understand how the Switch works. (Have you even seen one in person?) The Switch dock doesn't just simply display the system to the TV, it actually offers performance enhancements when docked, hence why it can display higher resolutions than the the system screen for most games. The Tegra X1 chip inside of it is actually underclocked when being played in Handheld mode and it overclocks when being played on the TV. With that technology, it actually makes the Switch a true hybrid system. Plugging a handheld to a TV doesn't make it a hybrid, unless if it offers performance enhancements. The examples you mentioned just simply outputs to the TV. They don't offer any enhancements whatsoever aside from the display being larger. Checkmate.
Good video. BUT! The thumbnail image can be misleading: that's Floral Bayonetta, a mod for Smash Bros. for Wii U, and using it here makes it look like a new skin for the Switch version.
Que fino hilas amigo Pep, pero tienes razón! Puede dar a entender que esa skin aparece en la nueva versión... la cual tampoco compraré por el drama de tener el primero en digital 😭
People want 4K 60fps on a handled console... playing games even at 45/50 FPS on the go is amazing, I mean the wii had some amazing games even though the graphics were shit. Nintendo don’t care they just wants to made fun games... god people are so annoying, every console have they particularities. Playing Zelda or Mario EVERYWHERE, just all your games on the go is amazing.
+leFrenchGuy Obviously, we're the spoilt generation. I'm amazed that a hybrid like the Switch can even compete with X1 and PS4. Back in the day, handheld ports would be a seperate thing to the main consoles, with many times totally different graphics and cut-down gameplay. The PS Vita helped to close the gap, but, there were still heavy compromises. Today, we still have compromises with Switch ports, but, the difference in quality is so much closer to the "real deal". I feel there's still a lot of potential for the mobile/tablet/hybrid market to improve once we can solve the challenges of battery-life and heat.
IeFrenchGuy Nope, playing at 45/50 sucks. I'd rather they sacrifice graphics to fix performance every time. Also I don't see anyone asking for 4K on Switch.
I don't except that. I do however except 1080p in docked mode since the system can do it. I rather them par back some effects on games to achieve that. 720p just doesnt hold up on modern 4k displays. Even with my tv being one of the best at upscaling its still very soft.
arkenfel Nintendo always says for the Switch "Play anytime, anywhere". That for me sounds like a portable console. Unless you carry a mini TV and a car battery so you can play a home console anytime, anywhere
Honestly, the sheer fact that I can play these games in my car before work is all that matters to me, they still look insanely good, especially on the smaller screen.
Why are people in the comments making fun of the Switch? It's at least running a game that is proper for its hardware at virtually 60FPS, even in handheld mode. I love my One X, but it doesn't run anything current at a steady 60FPS outside of Forza, lol.
Gears, halo, COD, bf1 to name a few run at 60fps.... pretty solid....developers choose to got 30fps because console was sold as a 4K machine not a FPS machine it’s all down to that lil bit of marketing that makes developers build games this way if they dropped resolution a tad most if not all would run at solid 60fps... hence why now a lot of games have multiple game modes to try n please everyone.... not that there optimised perfectly all the time...
Gavin Hart those games except Gears run at 60FPS on the base Xbox One, so tell me games that run 30FPS on the base Xbox One and run 60FPS on Xbox One X
It's so bad... it was the first version of it I ever played though so it was really nice when the PC came out with perfect 60fps 4K and all the shadows and AF turned up
Legit... Im about to buy the game after YEARS of seeing it on xbox 360... Why? The combat? Nah, but it looks like some DmC shit i can get behind. The Characters? Other than bayo, i know no one from this series... Except maybe rodan cuz of smash. The look of the world? Looks cool, and fighting angels is sick.... But nah The Music. Thats why im getting this. These jams are to righteous not to listen to with headphones on... Cant wait to jump in and kill some angels to some sexy smooth jazz, and vocals
I have Bayonetta 1 & 2 on the Switch + Wii U and I was shocked at how fast the load times were on the Switch compared to the Wii U. It's my favorite improvement as well as the framerate being so much better.
I was in a Bayonetta Group on the PS4. I only said, Bayonetta belongs now to Nintendo and will never be again on a PS console and I got hate comments, hate mails and got kicked out of that group.... The Nintendo community is so much better. I hate the PS community. I never bought Plus since..... I can't remember.... 1,5 years? Don't miss them 😂😂😂
It would have been more interesting to see how the game ran on original hardware I think the Switch versions of these games are the best bc of that portability
congratulations on naming all the good exclusives for the xbox since launch lol .. 2017 xbox exclusive releases .. Cuphead and forza 7 ... terrific indeed ..
Curious if the physical version (out this Friday) if the game might receive some QoL improvements, since the digital release. Picking up my copy on release day. Looking forward to having all three entries of the series in my Switch library.
Yes. One of a few advantages of having games in cartridge format. Near nonexistent load times. As most gamers know, laser takes a lot of power to use & has to traverse a platter of pits to retrieve the information from a disc thus it takes longer to load generally.
I have an XBOX ONE X, and I can definitely tell you that Bayonetta part 1 is fucking amazing on The X. A near perfect silky smooth framerate, and the textures quality for everything is razor sharp, just like Bayonetta's sword!!!! It's not 1080p like the PC version, it's still 720p. But the power of the Xbox X makes the artwork come to life, very sharp and vivid color details pop out of the screen.
@Kadu Penuela Yeah, it's still 720p textures... but there are FAR LESS jaggies. Like there is a particular stage where you see a million angels (exaggeration) flying in the very far background. On the 360 those far background angels were a bit blury, on the Xbox X they are clearer to see (less jaggies, less blury). My credit count on the game is close to 9,880,000 bye the way, so I've spent quite a long time with the game, same television, two different systems ;)
John glossed over the fact that Bayonetta 1 on Wii U (and now Switch) had a bunch of a really cool Nintendo exclusive costumes that kind of push this over the edge as the definitive version.
Because if you've played the 360 and the Wii-U version of the game, you'd know the Wii-U version kinda sucks because it runs slower (not PS3 version slow, thankfully). If the Wii-U port of the game was as good as the 360, this video probably wouldn't even need to exist. So we can conclude here that there are now versions of the game that run as good if not better than the definitive 360 version. The framerate isn't so much of a big deal as the slowdown, and these earlier Bayonetta 1 ports simply didn't have the research and hardware to accurately mimic the definitive experience which made the game so good.
@@LostChildOfTime I think I'd rather take the Wii U version over the 360 if I'll be honest, just because of all that screen tearing. The proper Xbox One X version is how I play now though.
Alexander Chilton When asked if used for portability or for home use, 50% of users said the use both means, while around 20% use it as a purely home console. You are, in fact, wrong, bud. If the Switch can barely compare to the Xbox 360 in docked mode than there is a serious problem with the Switch's power.
Lovely, thanks for the 2 Bayonetta videos! I always appreciate the tech analysis of games and their performance. Looks like this is a solid buy, especially for portable play too! ;)
I just can’t believe people are that stupid and salty haha 😂 This system is so great. Clearly the people who are so salty have never played the switch.
Or its just a weak console and switch owners cant accept it. When nothing logical to say just say "salty" or "stupid" yet you haven't made a counter argument why its a good console. Also its a 8 year old game that cant do 1080p in docked mode. Nothing to praise there
I might have to play this on my Xbox One S now, it looks to be running incredibly well, and it looks amazing! To think I've never played it, is insane.
Why would I ever want to play a fast twitch action game in software emulation? Do a lag test next time. It's one of the most important tests you could do for this game and you don't even mention it.
mtoad In that case, why would you ever want to play a fast twitch game with such bad frame drops, all the way to 38fps? At least if this theoretical xbox lag existed, it would be consistent..
My Wii U used to audibly CHUG during the stop-motion cutscenes in this game, so im glad they made these ports because i was itching to play em again. Cant wait until smash on switch so my Wii U can get its well-deserved rest.
Great video! Though I gotta say, the editing was a bit messy for the first half of this video. All the little sound effects + all the zoom-ins and switching scenes made it sort of hard to keep track of exactly where we were going. I'd definitely try to reduce the amount of transitions and also lower the volume or completely remove the little sound effects whenever a transition happens. Really enjoyed the analysis though and concidering picking up the B1 & 2 for Switch!
As a regular watcher, I enjoy it when they try something new, but I'd also like to add with your complaints that having the graph slide in after the scene decreases the amount of information we're getting on the scene, if just ever so slightly.
Really? I found the sounds helped my brain refresh the scene information slightly better and I also much appreciate the shorter fades between -the- transitions.
Console gamers tend to not give a shit about PC at all honestly. And even if they do, they seem to universally acknowledge that the PC is more powerful but simply don't care very much. Not much "salt" to be found. I threw down a ridiculous amount of money for a nice PC too man, it doesn't make me special. If anything, it's you who is looking a bit salty. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For these who think Sony have better exclusives Uncharted 4 8.7 million out of 80 million Last of us (Ps3) Bloodborn 2.71 out of 80 million Horizon zero dawn 2.6 out of 80 million
actually there is not wrong with TAA or FXAA - but as with almost anything, it's the what, it's the how. Borderlands 2 only uses FXAA on PC (unless your force something else), and there are plenty of jagg-free scenes that are also not blurry. However, that is because the developer optimized their game around it and only had it applied to area's that needed it - instead of just turning it on and letting the entire screen turn into Vaseline.
I have been saying this for years. It's why games like MK8 look crispy on Wii U and definitely on Switch at 1080p. People whine about aliasing, but I actually don't mind it and it makes games look sharper. And as gaming slowly moves to even higher resolutions entirely in years to come, AA becomes unnecessary anyway. You don't "need" AA at 4K necessarily. I'd rather have razor sharp edges to some things.
martinaee I’ve been saying the same thing for years too. lol. I absolutely loved Mario Kart 8’s aliasing on Wii U. Same with Splatoon. It really does make them look “crispy.” There’s no other way to explain it. lol.
Yeah that's the problem with such a low resolution. With a Post-AA, they look too blurry, but without it, they look really pixelated. Both approach are legit, but as always, it depends on the art style and assets quality. For Bayonetta specifically, I'd say the no Post-AA approach is the right choice. At least at 900p, Post-AA don't blur as much because the image is sharper to begin with, and the aliasing is less drastic, and on the other hand, having no AA at 900p isn't too bad either because the aliasing isn't as jarring. Anyway what matters the most is the performance, visual consistency, and overall polish.
DeadPhoenix86 lol not really but okay. Ive notices loads of optimization fluctuations during gameplay. they said theyre gonna be patching the game every so often. people are acting like the game is broken for good.... like no... its being worked on as we speak lol
Nice video, but you guys forgot about the PS3 version! The buttery framerate on PS3 puts even the Xbox One X framerate TO SHAME! There's even loading screens for the pause menus which gives a cool video game-y effect! Please do a comparison on that, next.
True, the 720p resolution isn't acceptable. This is an old 360 game, a console 7 times less powerful than Switch. The Switch can handle this game at 1080p or 900p 60fps
@@retroboy-fh1ji Why would 720 be unacceptable? Bayonetta 1 isn't even a particularly amazing looking game. It was released during the time most games of that console generation lacked vibrancy and various colors. There's no point in throwing in extra resources for a higher resolution when there are cheaper ways of enhancing the visuals. If the primary goal is to sell a classic, sure. But I'm led to believe that people will buy Bayonetta for the same reason people bought it when it was originally released, and that was for how well it plays. It doesn't need to meet visual standards and try to sell on appearance anymore. The fact that it's not looking any worse over time nullifies any complaint on how much better one thinks it should look.
Fabricio Vega that has to be the most ridiculous thing I have heard. 7 times more powerful the god damn Xbox one probably isn’t 7 times more powerful than the Xbox 360 some of y’all make no sense
Let us simply forget the fact that when the PS4 and XBO launched, they were way more expensive than the switch. If we had to pay less for newer hardware, come each generation, the PS6 would be about $150. The switch is not as powerful as the PS4 and XBO, but it is more modern, and more power efficient, and it also offers great exclusives. I think graphics are cool and all, but the switch is using the best hardware it could possibly offer at the time, for what it is, and price.
@@Lalapopsy there's more than just purely cosmetic mods lol.. plus who cares if it isn't official anyway because a shitload of people download and use mods for pretty much every game that can use them
@@ohioboy1878 And? Doesn't make a difference. Mods aren't official. Period. You can't include mods when critiquing a game, because any flaw "cAn jUSt Be MOddEd oUT".
People don’t change on the internet. They have ideas and viewpoints that cement into their minds as they grow older. Nothing you say will change that. If they have a different opinion, they seek out others who share those opinions.
So long story short... it's fine for a handheld. It's compromised compared to the PC version but on par with the Wii-U version it's alright. Now having not played the series before I would gladly take a 60 FPS in a high octane action game at the cost of a higher res.
Not really I just don't see the logic in being a nitpicker on Valentine's day night. Speaking of which, I actually have something to attend to. You chaps have a good night. :)
It's important to remember that in regards to the Switch. Bayonetta isn't even a last gen game. (360 - PS3 - Wii) >>> (Wii U - PS4 - XO) >>> (Switch). It goes to show how much has been sacrificed for the Switch to be an oversized handheld console.
Nerds sayong the xbox one x version is better atleast with the switch version we get two games in 1 on 2 essential platforms being a home console amd a portable console for the price of 1.
The Nintendo Switch was rumoured/hyped before launch to have 1 TeraFLOP of power. This is false however. It has almost 400 gigaFLOPS of power in docked mode. And about 200 gigaFLOPS of power in handheld mode. The Nintendo Switch can only reach 1 teraFLOP when using FP16, which isn't used in image rendering thanks to its lower range, lower precision and lower number of representable values. In docked mode, the Nintendo Switch is more powerful than the Nintendo Wii U, by a small margin. Since the Wii U only has 352 gigaFLOPS of performance. In handheld mode however, the Nintendo Switch is quite a bit weaker than the Wii U.
Zelda BOTW pushed the Wii U to its absolute limits and the framerate was poor, and the handheld Switch mode runs the game at the same res and has better graphics and more stable framerate. The portable Switch still its more powerful than the Wii U itself. Wolfenstein 2 and DOOM are far beyond of qhat a Wii U can handle.
I~ was introduced to Bayonetta in a 2008 interview with Kamiya in EGM.A printed interview does not even begin to describe how insane this game really is.
there are some people, specially action game fans that couldn`t care less about portability. Best version is the PC version followed by the 360 (on XBOX X), period. Bayonetta on switch is the best port for action game casuals.
the mario style bell when switching from a system to another is a very good idea. please do it in all your next videos (it avoids us watching pausing and rolling back to compare the picture)
Problem is, creating a small processor that the switch uses is more expensive than a $100 more. If they made it as powerful as a ps4 or xbox one, it would be just as expensive as a one x. The thing already costs $300.
@MrMilkey I am by no means a technical expert, so I’m interested in what you have to say. How much more do you think using a current generation Tegra processor would have cost?
I was pretty upset with how Nintendo decided to release Bayonetta on the Switch since I only buy physical copies of games on consoles and Digital on PC ...but thanks to you guys l'll just play Bayonetta on my Xbox One X.
Comparison videos these days are getting more and more pointless... Looks pretty damn similar - and in motion i'd care even less... BTW I have neither a WiiU or Switch
Andy Knowles true words spoken. I remember playing gta san andreas when it came out on ps2, i didnt even know at the time that it ran at 20fps lol, yet enjoyed it. Same with first god of war, 35-60 fps.
This morning I was doing the Jeane skyscraper fight and failed an attempt at it in docked mode, which was running great. Later I picked it up for another go in portable mode and the framerate seemed to take a huge hit during the fight for some reason, giving me an unfair advantage with the slower runtime. It was doing great in the preceding missile riding segment, so something about that fight looks to have a rough time undocked.
beg the question phrase of beg 1. (of a fact or action) raise a point that has not been dealt with; invite an obvious question. "some definitions of mental illness beg the question of what constitutes normal behaviour" 2. assume the truth of an argument or proposition to be proved, without arguing it. He obviously means the former not the latter. Which begs the question of why you haven't heard it used that way before.
Um, no, the first one is NOT a real definition of the phrase. The actual definition is the second one, and so many people misused it that everyone assumes it means the first one, having no idea of the real definition. Definition To "beg the question" is to put forward an argument whose validity requires that its own conclusion is true. Also called petitio principii, the fallacy is an attempt to support a claim with a premise that itself presupposes the claim.[7] It is an attempt to prove a proposition while simultaneously taking the proposition for granted. Given the single variable C (claim), "begging the question" is an attempt to assert that C => C. In two variables, C (claim) and P (premise), it attempts to pass (C => P) => C as the valid claim P => C.[citation needed] This is a form of circular reasoning, and may involve any number of variables. When the fallacy involves only a single variable, it is sometimes called a hysteron proteron[8][9][10], as in the statement: "Opium induces sleep because it has a soporific quality."[11] This form of the fallacy may not be immediately obvious. Linguistic variations in syntax, sentence structure and literary device may conceal it, as may other factors involved in an argument's delivery. It may take the form of an unstated premise which is essential but not identical to the conclusion, or is "controversial or questionable for the same reasons that typically might lead someone to question the conclusion":[12] ...[S]eldom is anyone going to simply place the conclusion word-for-word into the premises ... Rather, an arguer might use phraseology that conceals the fact that the conclusion is masquerading as a premise. The conclusion is rephrased to look different and is then placed in the premises. - Paul Herrick[13] For example, one can obscure the fallacy by first making a statement in concrete terms, then attempting to pass off an identical statement, delivered in abstract terms, as evidence for the original.[11] One could also "bring forth a proposition expressed in words of Saxon origin, and give as a reason for it the very same proposition stated in words of Norman origin",[14] as here: "To allow every man an unbounded freedom of speech must always be, on the whole, advantageous to the State, for it is highly conducive to the interests of the community that each individual should enjoy a liberty perfectly unlimited of expressing his sentiments."[15] When the fallacy of begging the question is committed in more than one step, some authors dub it circulus in probando (reasoning in a circle)[8][16] or, more commonly, circular reasoning. Begging the question is not considered a formal fallacy (an argument that is defective because it uses an incorrect deductive step). Rather, it is a type of informal fallacy that is logically valid but unpersuasive, in that it fails to prove anything other than what is already assumed.[17][18][19]
You helped me get okami on switch with your amazing video and i thank you for that because Okami is amazing. Now you definitely helped me decide to get Bayonetta for switch a game I never played before and now I’m definitely gonna thanks for the awesome video
As a Nintendo fan, I've got to admit it is a bit disappointing to see this game only being able to deliver 720p, though I commend it being able to be locked in 60fps. Don't get me wrong, 720p is fine at times, but when it's blown up at a larger monitor, you'll notice it a lot. Graphics aren't everything but I have to agree with some of the people here, Bayonetta 1 is 9 years old (based on the release dates of the physical copy on the switch) and Bayonetta 2 is 4 years old (again based on the physical release for the switch) but it still cannot run on 1080, or at least 960 p. Edit: Yes I know people can play handheld, but let's be honest, not everyone will play this handheld constantly. No one will constantly play this game in portable.
Everyone's arguing about which console is better and whatnot. I'm just excited to be able to play Bayonetta once again, but this time on the go. I have the game on PC and the 360. Having the Switch version is a nice complementary addition.
When is Call of Duty 3 coming to Switch? I mean, Switch is the place for high quality ports of ten year old software right? When do we get the Switch port of GTA4? Are you guys hyped for the Switch version of Daggerfall?
Alexander Chilton You mean Doom 2016. And those are the very worst ports imaginable. Sub 720p with settings below the lowest PC settings. So uh yeah. Not exactly a strong argument there, fella.
Scott Douglas you're argument was the Switch gets mainly old ports. Then Alexander Chilton presents the arguement that Wolfenstein 2, a recent game is coming to Switch. Then you say, but it will be the worst version. Way to move your goal post smh. I have a gaming rig with 1080 SLI, yet I still find buying games on Switch attractive because of its portability. Obviously you don't buy a Switch thinking that it'll be the best version. As long as it's adequate, people will buy it. Hence why the Switch is selling so well right now.
Nearly 10 years later and worse texture filtering than the 360 version. Such an upgrade! Thanks Nintendo! This would be impressive if this wasn't a console you were supposed to connect to your tv and was just a portable. And the texture filtering is even worse in portable mode jeez.
Bayo 2 is just better 1. It repeats what 1 did but improved in every way. More abilities, moves, items, enemies, better visuals, and the alternate costumes with new control schemes are super sweet. If youre only going to play one of them, play 2 instead of the first.
Agreed, I enjoyed the first one but the second one just cranks up the action and chaos so much more and has much more memorable level design and boss fights.
If you don't have a Switch yet it is definitely worth playing the first one on whatever you do have. Granted, I'd start saving for a Switch immediately afterwards, as you're gonna want 2&3 after.
People really take the Switch for granted. It’s more powerful than the Wii U, a console, while being a portable at the same time. It’s astounding tech we could only dream of less than 10 years ago.

No no. You don't understand how the Switch works. (Have you even seen one in person?)
The Switch dock doesn't just simply display the system to the TV, it actually offers performance enhancements when docked, hence why it can display higher resolutions than the the system screen for most games.

Good video. BUT! The thumbnail image can be misleading: that's Floral Bayonetta, a mod for Smash Bros. for Wii U, and using it here makes it look like a new skin for the Switch version.
Agreed, it's awesome to see!
also you know it's handheld, so them level of details wouldn't be seen at all in handheld mode at all.
People are just salty that they can’t buy a switch bc they’re too poor
IeFrenchGuy Nope, playing at 45/50 sucks. I'd rather they sacrifice graphics to fix performance every time. Also I don't see anyone asking for 4K on Switch.
Keep in mind, the switch is handheld device. So you people expecting godlike visuals and 4k 60fps from it are in for a disappointment.
I don't except that. I do however except 1080p in docked mode since the system can do it. I rather them par back some effects on games to achieve that. 720p just doesnt hold up on modern 4k displays. Even with my tv being one of the best at upscaling its still very soft.
arkenfel
Nintendo always says for the Switch "Play anytime, anywhere".
That for me sounds like a portable console.
Unless you carry a mini TV and a car battery so you can play a home console anytime, anywhere
its also a 8 year old game on a 1 year old hardware that only does 720p
salt
Aldin Vejzovic Still looks great, and runs at a very stable 60 FPS. I’d like to see crisis run at 4K max on a ps4 pro, that won’t go well.
Already pre purchased and downloaded. Looking forward to playing both games again!
Honestly, the sheer fact that I can play these games in my car before work is all that matters to me, they still look insanely good, especially on the smaller screen.
Nintendo switch
My favourite console on the planet right now
If it could run Dark Souls at 60fps I'd agree.
Chance Kimber dark souls remastered is coming. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
My problem is that it's running half the frame rate than any other platform.
Chance Kimber
Maybe on 480p 60fps
Chance Kimber Go play Dark Souls on something else then.
Why are people in the comments making fun of the Switch? It's at least running a game that is proper for its hardware at virtually 60FPS, even in handheld mode. I love my One X, but it doesn't run anything current at a steady 60FPS outside of Forza, lol.
Kharlo Pena
I would guess most of the complainers don't even own a Switch, let alone have/had plans on buying Bayonetta.
You have a 4k t.v because if now you won't see the visual difference
Yeah but also 90% titles on switch dont come close to the graphical demanding games on X. The switch is a more powerful 360
Really disappointed that the Switch version of Bayonetta isn't getting a physical release outside of Japan
Obed Blas I might well do but the language barrier would probably be a bit of an issue.
What are you talking about it is? My local gamestop is having an event for it lol
That's bayonetta 2 which includes a digital download code for the original bayonetta, not a game card.
Yeah Japan are getting their own collectors edition called "Non-Stop Climax Edition" that includes both games physically.
the japan version runs both japanese and english voice over
But ps3 version is still the most "cinematic" version
Bookers Yes, the sony drones love playing all their games in 23fps
It's so bad... it was the first version of it I ever played though so it was really nice when the PC came out with perfect 60fps 4K and all the shadows and AF turned up
not really.
bruh
And unfinished. Platinum games have said it themselves!
Love the editing and visuals of this episode, gud job guys.
I must say, even tho it's "only" 720p, it still looks pretty good in my oppinion. (Yes I'm late to the party I know :/ )
Not as late as me
@@digital5535 Hold my beer😂
But nah
The Music.
1,5 years? Don't miss them 😂😂😂
It would have been more interesting to see how the game ran on original hardware
I think the Switch versions of these games are the best bc of that portability
Playing on the switch made me wonder why I had no time to practice combos on the loading screen...which is a good thing.
Glad to see that there are now 2 consoles that can actually handle Bayonetta good.
Good to know, I have the X1X and Bayonetta, as well as the Wii U with Bayonetta 2. Excellent games.
Xbox one X version also has 16 X anisotropic texture filtering and rock solid performance.
And no games
Fuck the Oscars I have like 130 games in my library? Sunset overdrive, Gears, Halo, Cuphead and Forza (Few more) 95% are Multiplat though.
Yeah it has hundreds of games many with 4k patches. Enjoy the 720p blurry resolution while i get a nice sharp 2160p image that is on another planet.
Tru Power of DX12
congratulations on naming all the good exclusives for the xbox since launch lol .. 2017 xbox exclusive releases .. Cuphead and forza 7 ... terrific indeed ..
And now I have it physically on Switch.
Perfection.
Curious if the physical version (out this Friday)
if the game might receive some QoL improvements, since the digital release.
Picking up my copy on release day. Looking forward to having all three entries of the series in my Switch library.
Nope. They get updates for language localization only
It got additional languages
Loved the Super Mario sounds and the Xbox One X comparison. Awesome video!
4 years later and this is still full price on Switch. I can play on the Series X for 10 dollars or less. No thanks Nintendo.
$30 is full price?
Also--I'm playing Bayonetta 3 today 😆
Are you missing out?
@@RhythmGrizz buy the man Bayonetta 2-3
Picking this up tomorrow. Can't wait. Never played any of them so I'll be super excited
You are going to love Bayonetta.
but the music in background is a modification of outrun! :D
Yes. One of a few advantages of having games in cartridge format. Near nonexistent load times. As most gamers know, laser takes a lot of power to use & has to traverse a platter of pits to retrieve the information from a disc thus it takes longer to load generally.
3wATroCon Some switch games have long load times due to heavy compression to save on cart space. It takes time for the cpu to uncompress these assets.
But the power of the Xbox X makes the artwork come to life, very sharp and vivid color details pop out of the screen.
dante devilhunter That's backwards compatability. It doesn't run much better than the original.
@Diabolical Did you pay attention to the 360 comparisons? The Xbox X version clearly stays Much Closer to a nearly locked 60fps.
John glossed over the fact that Bayonetta 1 on Wii U (and now Switch) had a bunch of a really cool Nintendo exclusive costumes that kind of push this over the edge as the definitive version.
Hope you guys can do an analysis of the Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition later! (Pretty please) !!
We are now complaining about a game dropping to 36 fps for a brief moment.
What a wild world, I'm still kinda stuck in the Wii days.
@@Supersayainpikmin I'm on the PS4 version and my only complaint about it is it tendency to crash from autosaving and loading a save.
Switch is best for portability
You still have to judge it as a home console as well, since that's where I do most of my gaming.
Chance Kimber
You are in the minority bud.
Try playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in Handheld mode, and come back to me and say that.
It's also cheaper than the xb1x and you get to play Bayo 2 and 3.
Remember playing this on Xbox 360 - it was glorious!
Lovely, thanks for the 2 Bayonetta videos! I always appreciate the tech analysis of games and their performance. Looks like this is a solid buy, especially for portable play too! ;)
I really dig the new video direction, DF. Keep up the great work!
I just can’t believe people are that stupid and salty haha 😂
This system is so great.
Nothing to praise there
ITS 👏🏼 A 👏🏼 HAND 👏🏼 HELD 👏🏼
Again you’ve clearly never played a switch. 😂😂😂
I am the only one to find the lava scene better with slowdowns than in 60fps?
It make it fun.
Oh shit it comes out Friday!?!?!
Lmao if you think theres any noticeable lag on xbox bc you'd be dead wrong.
mtoad In that case, why would you ever want to play a fast twitch game with such bad frame drops, all the way to 38fps? At least if this theoretical xbox lag existed, it would be consistent..
My Wii U used to audibly CHUG during the stop-motion cutscenes in this game, so im glad they made these ports because i was itching to play em again. Cant wait until smash on switch so my Wii U can get its well-deserved rest.
For me the definitive release of the game was on wiiu. Two discs one for each game. Here you got a cart and guess what a download code lol
And now there's a physical cart of Bayo 1 for $30
those super mario world sound effects made me smile, solid content from df as always
Yep, sound effects like that are generally meant to make transitions LESS jarring, not more. but hey at least they're trying different stuff.
Gehab Slow.
Always lovely to see ports done right.

Praise for the Outrun background music.
Starting to think anti-aliasing in 720p games just makes them look too soft.
actually there is not wrong with TAA or FXAA - but as with almost anything, it's the what, it's the how.
Me too most of the time, but not always.
The bip ou introduce while changing the console image is very useful !

Amazing review of Bayonetta on Switch !
Nice video, but you guys forgot about the PS3 version! The buttery framerate on PS3 puts even the Xbox One X framerate TO SHAME! There's even loading screens for the pause menus which gives a cool video game-y effect! Please do a comparison on that, next.
I like the new overlays in your videos, they look really fancy :p
its a direct port, with hardly any difference

Bayonetta is the BIG reason I'm saving up for a Switch!! I would do anything for my witch mom!!!
So long story short... it's fine for a handheld. It's compromised compared to the PC version but on par with the Wii-U version it's alright. Now having not played the series before I would gladly take a 60 FPS in a high octane action game at the cost of a higher res.
So? I love the way you say that like I lose anything out of getting a higher frame-rate for the game.
Nerds sayong the xbox one x version is better atleast with the switch version we get two games in 1 on 2 essential platforms being a home console amd a portable console for the price of 1.
lol what? Bayonetta 2 costs $50 on Switch, and $22 on Amazon for Wii U. You're already paying 2.5x the price for a simple port.

This will be the first game in my life that I'll have purchased thrice. Strange times we live in.
FP16 does have some uses in rendering, it's just not applicable for everything.
Yeah, wii u might have better numbers on paper in a few areas, but it doesn't necessarily translate to better real world performance.
Wii U is 176 gigaflops.
*GIGAFLOPS*
I~ was introduced to Bayonetta in a 2008 interview with Kamiya in EGM.A printed interview does not even begin to describe how insane this game really is.
Wouldn’t the Xbox x version be the best since it runs at a solid 60
Larry Taylor Performance wise it’s the best but it’s still not portable so the Switch wins.
Christian Young you tied yourself into a pretzel with that comment.
no because its emulated and only 720p 360 graphics, how are you so dense, THERE IS A PC PORT
there are some people, specially action game fans that couldn`t care less about portability. Best version is the PC version followed by the 360 (on XBOX X), period. Bayonetta on switch is the best port for action game casuals.
Yes, but nobody likes to talk about 360 Backcompat running on the X.
the mario style bell when switching from a system to another is a very good idea.
please do it in all your next videos (it avoids us watching pausing and rolling back to compare the picture)
I love my switch, but I would have gladly paid $100 more for a beefed up processor and a slightly better screen.
so you had to pay 400 lol
Problem is, creating a small processor that the switch uses is more expensive than a $100 more. If they made it as powerful as a ps4 or xbox one, it would be just as expensive as a one x. The thing already costs $300.
Jack Maher
But the majority probably wouldn't have.
@MrMilkey I am by no means a technical expert, so I’m interested in what you have to say. How much more do you think using a current generation Tegra processor would have cost?
Jack Maher A lot. And If Nintendo opted for the so called Tegra X2, Switch wouldn't be released in 2017.
I was barely paying attention for the first 5 minutes because of the amazingly nostalgic OutRun music in the background.

It doesn't beg the question. It raises the question. Those don't mean the same thing.
beg the question
phrase of beg
1.
(of a fact or action) raise a point that has not been dealt with; invite an obvious question.
"some definitions of mental illness beg the question of what constitutes normal behaviour"
2.
assume the truth of an argument or proposition to be proved, without arguing it.
He obviously means the former not the latter. Which begs the question of why you haven't heard it used that way before.
Um, no, the first one is NOT a real definition of the phrase. The actual definition is the second one, and so many people misused it that everyone assumes it means the first one, having no idea of the real definition.
Definition
To "beg the question" is to put forward an argument whose validity requires that its own conclusion is true.
When the fallacy involves only a single variable, it is sometimes called a hysteron proteron[8][9][10], as in the statement:
"Opium induces sleep because it has a soporific quality."[11]
This form of the fallacy may not be immediately obvious. Linguistic variations in syntax, sentence structure and literary device may conceal it, as may other factors involved in an argument's delivery. It may take the form of an unstated premise which is essential but not identical to the conclusion, or is "controversial or questionable for the same reasons that typically might lead someone to question the conclusion":[12]
...[S]eldom is anyone going to simply place the conclusion word-for-word into the premises ... Rather, an arguer might use phraseology that conceals the fact that the conclusion is masquerading as a premise. The conclusion is rephrased to look different and is then placed in the premises.
- Paul Herrick[13]
For example, one can obscure the fallacy by first making a statement in concrete terms, then attempting to pass off an identical statement, delivered in abstract terms, as evidence for the original.[11] One could also "bring forth a proposition expressed in words of Saxon origin, and give as a reason for it the very same proposition stated in words of Norman origin",[14] as here:
"To allow every man an unbounded freedom of speech must always be, on the whole, advantageous to the State, for it is highly conducive to the interests of the community that each individual should enjoy a liberty perfectly unlimited of expressing his sentiments."[15]
When the fallacy of begging the question is committed in more than one step, some authors dub it circulus in probando (reasoning in a circle)[8][16] or, more commonly, circular reasoning.
Begging the question is not considered a formal fallacy (an argument that is defective because it uses an incorrect deductive step). Rather, it is a type of informal fallacy that is logically valid but unpersuasive, in that it fails to prove anything other than what is already assumed.[17][18][19]

720p is fine. Fun fact: 720p is HD. Meaning it is enough for the human eye. Disappointing? Yes. But it's not shit as everyone says.
On the handheld screen? Not blurry at all.
AlexfromNorway The Switch is a system that runs on mobile hardware from 2015. It is what it is.
Yoshisaur Munchakoopas wtf?
False. Ouya can run it at a solid 65fps, at 1440p.
Solid 65FPS?! Improper frame pacing! Unplayable!
Everyone's arguing about which console is better and whatnot. I'm just excited to be able to play Bayonetta once again, but this time on the go. I have the game on PC and the 360. Having the Switch version is a nice complementary addition.
Jugando Bayonetta mientras uno esta en el baño cagando augusto en la portátil Nintendo Swicth
Was on the fence, but bought it (for Switch). Was not disappointed. This game controls like a dream. Real triple A title feel.
there is no ps4 version?
Lol
the ps3 version is a trash fire too
ps3 version has 11-15 fps drops
I wish there was no PS3 version either.
I frankly couldn’t care less about slight frame drops. It certainly wouldn’t affect which version I buy.
When is Call of Duty 3 coming to Switch? I mean, Switch is the place for high quality ports of ten year old software right? When do we get the Switch port of GTA4? Are you guys hyped for the Switch version of Daggerfall?
Like Doom 2016 and Wolfenstein 2.
Such old games, wow.
Alexander Chilton
You mean Doom 2016. And those are the very worst ports imaginable. Sub 720p with settings below the lowest PC settings. So uh yeah. Not exactly a strong argument there, fella.
Scott Douglas
But they are not ten years old so your case is even worse and they are the only portable versions of those games.
Scott Douglas Sub 720p, don't forget 20-25fps...
Soon as the price drops a bit I’m picking it up. Hopefully it drops to $30 or $20 before the year is up
Only 576p docked though?
fcukugimmeausername uh
prove
fcukugimmeausername did you watch the video? It's 1280x720
He clearly says that 720 is the menu resolution and the gameplay is 576p with 25fps.
Nice bait... timestamp?
Ps3 version is still the best though.
youthnando91 *worst
Are you trying to be funny? It's a mess on the PS3. It barely hit 50fps and drops down into the low 20's.
SmiggyG yes, he is clearly joking. How could you not tell? Its so fucking obvious.
Lol

Just picked up my switch. Having one of my favorite games of all time in pocket is beautiful.
playing a game from 2009 in 720p in 2018, k
Nearly 10 years later and worse texture filtering than the 360 version. Such an upgrade! Thanks Nintendo!
This would be impressive if this wasn't a console you were supposed to connect to your tv and was just a portable. And the texture filtering is even worse in portable mode jeez.
I'm sorry, but this a first. i never knew that Bayonetta was on Xbox or the 360?? My next step will be Xbox 1 X !!!!
Jackie Yanish What's the point if Bayo 2 and Bayo 3 will be only on Nintendo platforms?
Matheus Viana
One is enough
