I had the x100v for a short while and it's a great camera but I traded it in for a xpro3 and prefer this one. Tossing on voigtlander glass is superb. Also the ISO ring mechanism is fantastic though I use the auto ISO and have the presets for 3 ranges of ISO mapped to a button so it's not that big of a deal on the xpro3
in January 2017 I bought an x100f. I was transitioning to professional work and although I liked it very much, the lens was a bit too soft and it lacked a good high ISO performance. I moved on and bought a Leica Q by the end of 2018. Apart from a much sharper lens, it was stabilized and that was a great advantage. The color was also more neutral and required less or no tweaking. I do keep both as personal cameras and sometimes I carry the Leica as a backup camera for work. As said, I like the Fuji. I like how small and unobstrusive it is. It works well during daylight and is ideal for street photography. It’s a nice niche camera, but it is hard for me to understand the hype unless the 100v is radically better than the f in many different ways. Sometimes new cameras represent a leap over their predecessors. A good example is the Nikon Z9 or previously the D850. But however much I like the little Fuji, I don’t think all the hype is that justified.
I have had all variations of the X100 apart from the X100T I owned the original, the S, the F, and now the V. I've also owned the Leica Q (what a great camera) The 100V is SUBSTANTIALLY better than the 100F (and by that I mean way sharper images up close and wayyyy faster / more accurate autoffocus)

Hi Carlos, i really enjoyed your chill narration on the video. Austria is one of my very favorite countries I have visited, happy to have subbed to support your channel. Cheers from Oregon!
This hype is rather odd to me; I had the camera at some point back in early 2021, used it for a short amount of time, but overall, wasn't too happy / impressed with it (it's a good camera, no question, though, nothing "special"; the V had been my second X100 after having owned the "original" about 10 years ago). Sold it with some loss and never looked back - to me, it's a mystery that, out of the sudden and about 2 years after its release, there's this demand (instead of a new version by Fujifilm).
Same here. They always laughed at me at art-academy, because I used the X100 original. Now everyone wants the V and those who buy it for the current prices run around like they bought a Leica M3 or Hasselblad. Feels like a joke to me.
I had 3 different versions of the X100 over the past 12 years, no doubt really enjoyed it, but he price tag for it because of hype of some TikTokers is an absolute joke! Thanks for the vid!

X-E3 or X-E4 can be picked up for way less, totally overlooked and is very similar, the main difference is you can change lenses. Grab a pancake lens and you've essentially got the same thing.
Both the E3 and/or E4 are great camera's too!, but the X series have a leave shutter, build in ND filter + high speed sync flash. That gives possibilities no interchangeable lens camera have so far.
@@WACONimages Ah yeah, that's true. I forgot it has the leaf shutter which is awesome. There's a few other things the X100v does better in general but for most people they wouldn't really notice or appreciate for the most part; so while they're completely out of stock everywhere the X-E3/X-E4 is a great alternative that may not even be a compromise and possibly better (if you want to use other focal lengths).
I’ve a T, 2 F’s and now a V. Love them all and used the built in ND filter all the time. Here’s something I’ve discovered but heard no one mention: the 3stop ND was perfect. Shooting in bright afternoon light wide open at ISO 160, I get the red, 2000+ SS warning, but when I turn on the 4stop ND the SS drops to between 160 and 250. That’s much too slow and NOT a versatile range. Have that at only f2.8. As I said, at 3stops this would have been a SS around 360-500. Does anyone else wonder why Fuji upped the ND filter to 4stops? Every talks like this is an improvement. What am l missing?
Took my best photo on an X100S six years ago. I bought the F and didn't think it moved the bar very much. I like the old sensor. The V may be different...
In case anyone is interested, I bought a Peak Design 3 Litre "Sling" bag. It's just about perfect for the X100V. 1 compartment for the Fuji and the other for your wallet, phone and Keys. It doesn't hold a lot more than that, but that's why I like it so much. The bigger the bag, the more you carry. The 3 litre Sling is my perfect "Day in the City" bag.
I rarely comment, but this video is just so nicely done. Recently, I've been to Vienna with my old Nikon DSLR and it was such a pain in the ass carrying it around. Most of my photos are shot in RAW and I don't like editing them often, so... X100V just seems like the most perfect dream camera for me. Lightweight, JPEGs are sharp and the overall experience seems so fun. Also, coming from a Ukrainian - Wien ist neben Kyjiw meine Lieblingsstadt. Danke Schön für deine Arbeit. 🇺🇦✨🇦🇹
Quick question: I love my X100V too but I have a gripe that I sort of need to confirm with someone who knows their s**t. I enjoy the optical viewfinder but I struggle with the light meter - if I miss the exposure by a long way, for example forgetting my settings or leaving the ND filter on, the dot on the light meter dial disappears. It’s like “sorry, man, you’re way off so I can’t tell you what to do”. I often have to take it away from my eye, check all my settings and/or check the screen to see where I’m at (not the point of the ovf, really). I’m capable of shooting with a simple light meter on film cameras, using a v basic one on my phone, but this problem really bugs me. Have you experienced it? If not, what might I be doing wrong? Does it tell you somewhere that you’re way over or way under on the ovf? J
Hey James! I am not exactly sure if I am following. As far as I can remember, I don't have any light metering dot on my screen, nor in EV or OV. I did try to replicate what you are saying and overexpose almost to the point where the entire image is white. In this case, the focus point struggles to find enough contrast between pixels, it just doesn't focus and ends up disappearing. Same thing happens when it's too dark (or you leave the ND on). There isn't really anything we can do about it. I shamelessly shoot most of the time in "aperture priority" with certain minimum and maximum ISO set to my taste. Also, if I am not mistaken, you can prioritise shutter speed or ISO - I tell the camera that when there's need for more light, it should increase ISO instead of decrease shutter speed (and therefore risking a blurry photo).
@@carlosdomi Hi, Thanks for trying but it's not their sort of thing you'll see if you're shooting automatic aperture, speed or ISO because the camera will always compensate. It's purely a problem for us picky purists who want to do it all manually - there's a little dot/arrow thingy that tells you how far under or over you are, but if it reaches the end of the scale, it disappears altogether. Wouldn't matter too much except sometimes you don't have to be way off with your exposure (a few clicks with the speed wheel and a couple on the aperture ring is sometimes all that's needed). Other cameras have dials that give you a better visual and show you which direction you've gone. Of course, this is all resolvable if you consider your settings beforehand (I'm usually close with my first guess these days) but I'd like it if the meter just tells me without me having to think about it. Anyway, I love Vienna and I love the vid . Thanks for the work you and other creators do - I know how much work goes into it (videos take forever) and it really helps spread the love for photography. James
Not sure I follow either. Toss it in f4, ISO 400 & SS 1/60 .. EC dial at 0 and go from there. Or just flick it to EVF for a settings reset & back to OVF.
I love my X100V. I couldn't afford to buy one outright but I got on a list to rent one and finally got it. Unfortunately I live out in the sticks and don't find the time to use it that often, so it mostly just sits and looks pretty. But I'm also loathe to stop renting and return it because it's likely I'll be moving to the city soon and I think that's where it really shines.
Funniest camera for me was the original Canon 5d with the infamous ef 50mm f1.2L. It was so enjoyable. My set up was center af only with back button focus. Jpegs were beautiful!
This is such a nice video! I used to shoot with a second hand X100F, before I "upgraded" to Sony A7M3. However, I immediately missed the overall charm of the Fujifilm and exchanged my entire setup for an X-pro3 and haven't looked back since. Again, good job on the video and amazing pictures. Keep it up!
Exactly what i was looking for but I got a used one with two lenses I used most of the Fuji version and have made exhibitions I’m writing currently in India a photography trip with same camera
Got mine a year ago for €950, as new, right here in your lovely town. It's special indeed. And as you mentioned, it can get you into some interesting conversations, of various kinds... gotta love this camera. Liebe Grüße aus Wien 😊
any kinda of filter screwed on the lens would "seal it", but you do need a little adaptar so that the lens can move in and out freely when focusing :) and thank you Heinrich
Greetings from the USA! I really enjoyed your photos and edits, and the stories as well. I'm glad I found your channel and I just subscribed. As the owner of an X100T, which is my favorite camera of all time even though I also own a GRII, X-Pro2, X-T3 and X-H1, I understand your passion for your X100V. There's something liberating about a fixed-lens camera, which takes a lot of the variables out of the process and allows you to focus on the moment.
The difference between Fujifilm and everyone else is that Fujifilm content creators actually know how to use their cameras and include samples of their work in videos is what I've realized. Most Canon and Sony camera videos I've seen are just talking heads basically spec sheets.
Fuji has two popular subreddits where people share images everyday. The Canon subreddit won’t even let you post images unless it’s the LENS OF THE WEEK.. & I own the R6ii. Fuji community is WAAAAY more ‘open’.
thank you my friend! I wasn't planning to share those color profiles - I honestly did them for private use so I can speed up my workflow. Maybe at some point it makes sense to sell/share them
How is the durability of the viewfinder on these cameras? I have concerns about the front viewfinder how it is exposed and how well it would hold up over time
Amazing photos! And loving the custom color profile you have :) . Not sure if it’s the same custom color profile across the photos. Wondering if you’d like to share the color profile for the trains photos? Thanks!
The hype is real…. For now, until emotional photographers move onto the next ‘must have camera to improve your photography’ . And RNI gives you dozens of film sims, in raw or jpg. It is a great camera, but the art comes from the photographer and the vision and imagination they have….. not the gear.
In my first semester at art-academy, they laughed at me for my old X100. Today, they buy the V for unnecessary prices, and still are bad photographers, that only shoot typical instagram-pics, while running around in hipster-clothes and the V as an accessorie like a M3 or a Hasselblad. Its so stupid, seriously...
This camera having a second wind of hype it seems! I've had mine a couple of years now it seems. Keep seeing things like this, or people complaining about price hikes and availability. Not sure what's going on. It's a great camera but like... there's lots of great cameras.
Sincere effort for this lovely video. Thanks for sharing such precise information. I am extremely impressed with your Clear Heart and transparent thoughts. I wish you all the best for your future project / videos. With Kind Regards🙂
I have a Fuji film camera, and I really couldn't decide which camera to get and I wanted this camera so badly, but I couldn't afford both and I went for the embody stabilisation of the X - S 10. But when I've saved up a little bit more coin, I will be getting this as a buddy camera.
there are some second hand options for 1000-1300 euros in Turkey. I wish I could buy one but it's basically a fortune for me, almost two months worth of salary.
In one video you told two great real stories. I got more than I asked for in this video lol. Karma likes you man. I wish it was like that for many of us haha... You sold me, now I really wanna buy this beautiful camera
As a matter of interest, do you shoot every image at F2? I'm guessing you like the look of the Fujinon lens wide open no matter the light or where the subject is in the frame. Since you provided settings I couldn't help notice that.
it surprised me too to see that all the photos I had chosen were shot at f2 :D but it makes sense, I prefer images with some depth over the ones where everything is sharp. And because of the ND filter built-in, I can still use the f2 in very bright situations.
This camera has all it needs specially for street photographers, if you doubt between this cam and the Q2 Leica …… well i can tell you ….. buy the Fuji and save the money on the Leica hipe
You gotta admit, it takes a damn good photograph! And those recipes… wow! Fuji should create an app or something with those recipes and they would without a doubt be the biggest name in the game!!! I want one! And this is coming from a guy that has 12 cameras, most of which are film, 2 digital.
If it had IBIS, I think the price would be justified. If Pentax can put IBIS in every camera they’ve made in the past 15 years, and Sony can cram it in the A7C, why cant fuji put it on the X100 series? Hopefully the next one will 🤞
Thanks a lot for your video! As the camera is currently impossible to buy new and hard to know if I can trust someone on ebay-kleinanzeige, is there any similar camera you would recommend instead? Thanks a lot!!
Hi Ini! In terms of size, probably the closest is the XE4 with a pancake or one of the "fujicron" lenses. The XPRO3 also offers an optical + electronic viewfinder, but it's considerably more expensive. Both of them have the exact same sensor as the X100V
Hey there! By custom color I mean a complete, customised color profile made with a color lookup in Lightroom. This is what I use sometimes instead of a "preset" in Lightroom. These are harder to replicate since I'm not using one of the Fujifilm simulations.
all these videso are funny to me now. i've been eyeballing the x100 series since the x100T, but apparently I only want one now because of hype. good to know
well, this video actually says that you want one because of its hybrid viewfinder, image quality, weather sealing, compact size, design, fuji color and simulations etc… not because of the hype.
The best thing about this camera is that all the dudes that have one are so hyped about it they are selling all their other cameras for about five cents on the dollar. We just got a new Leica with three lens' for $29.95 coming from this guy in Mumbai and a Hasselblad that everyone thought was left on the moon from another guy in Nigeria.

For the Nikon check to see if you can shoot both RAW and JPEG, simultaneously.
@@carlosdomi Hi,
Thanks for trying but it's not their sort of thing you'll see if you're shooting automatic aperture, speed or ISO because the camera will always compensate.
I purchased my X100V at $1,500. Recently I was selling all my Fuji gear and when I saw it was selling for $2,000 I decided to keep it.
I very liked your video review and especially your pictures. What is your best custom settings in camera? i loved custom settings with train in motion
This camera is out of stock everywhere right now. I can't find one at all in Europe. Really want one too.
Funniest camera for me was the original Canon 5d with the infamous ef 50mm f1.2L. It was so enjoyable. My set up was center af only with back button focus. Jpegs were beautiful!
I‘m still using that exact camera but with a sigma 35 1.4.
Even being 17 years old, this camera is still a blast.
Keep it up!
That was some nice detective work by the person that returned your camera! Bravo, random person.
I bought this camera for $1650 and I’m LOVING it
It was kind of surreal seeing my video as the number 2 result on your RUclips search. Loved the video - especially the stories. Nice change of pace
and I only now realised my Google account is translating every YT title into Spanish for some reason :D
@@carlosdomi 😂😂😂
Great video Carlos! I really enjoyed your demeanor and personal anecdotes as well as the excellent examples of photography. Great stuff!
Exactly what i was looking for but I got a used one with two lenses I used most of the Fuji version and have made exhibitions I’m writing currently in India a photography trip with same camera
Great stories! I hope to get one soon (used) as they’re finally available locally
Just discovered you! - love the video,. You seem to have a simple camera strap which I like - where did you find it?
Got mine a year ago for €950, as new, right here in your lovely town. It's special indeed. And as you mentioned, it can get you into some interesting conversations, of various kinds... gotta love this camera. Liebe Grüße aus Wien 😊
Beautiful photos. What is the name of the filter you mentioned to weather proof? I live in Vietnam and the humidity is insane
any kinda of filter screwed on the lens would "seal it", but you do need a little adaptar so that the lens can move in and out freely when focusing :) and thank you Heinrich
@@TCinSoCal I didn't know that. Will be checking it out. Thanks, man.
Fantastic video and lovely lovely shots!
Where might we be able to get hold of your custom color profile?
thank you my friend!
Thanks!
Great video❤, which Programm are you using for creating your video?😊
Thank you! I’m cutting in Premiere Pro
I'm amazed your shots are mostly set at aperture f2. I can't do that with my X100S, the corners will be all blurred
The way ypu got back your camera ❤ This video is a set of stories and photos, lovely, thank you.
Your use of lighting is amazing! Great photos
The composition of your images is really striking and took me by surprise!
Great video Carlos and congrats on it blowing up!
Sincere effort for this lovely video. Thanks for sharing such precise information. I am extremely impressed with your Clear Heart and transparent thoughts. I wish you all the best for your future project / videos. With Kind Regards🙂
Have you tried the Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 filter? Wondering why you chose the regular Pro Mist filter instead.
Hey! I indeed use the black pro mist, not the regular one. I got that one wrong in the video!
The best video I have seen so far regarding this beautiful camera.
I have a Fuji film camera, and I really couldn't decide which camera to get and I wanted this camera so badly, but I couldn't afford both and I went for the embody stabilisation of the X - S 10. But when I've saved up a little bit more coin, I will be getting this as a buddy camera.
Are these photos JPEGs or Raw then further edit? (May have terminology wrong)
there are some second hand options for 1000-1300 euros in Turkey. I wish I could buy one but it's basically a fortune for me, almost two months worth of salary.
In one video you told two great real stories. I got more than I asked for in this video lol. Karma likes you man. I wish it was like that for many of us haha... You sold me, now I really wanna buy this beautiful camera
Great video! I can’t wait to get my X100V! Cheers from Hawaii🤙🏽
Great video! I love the photos. Do you have a link to the custom settings for the images?
thank you! Maybe at some point in the future makes sense to share those color profiles
Really wild. I picked one up new the week of release and am shocked to see current pricing.
Love this video! What camera did you use to take this video? Thanks
hey Mark! this was filmed on the XH2, and thank you!
I am at 1:19, wondering where the knocking is coming from, most likely the camera.
Very nicee...For intro did you edit it in retro style or is also an camera method
What part of it do you mean Aravind?
@@carlosdomi from 0.00 to 3.50
Great pics & lovely story Carlos
Loved the photos and the stories. Great video!
what do you use to edit your videos?
What is your custom color preset for the train shots in the upfront section of the film? I love the colours.
at 1min4s how do you have the line on your screen? as well as how do you shoot the continuous shutter?
Nice video. What camera did you shoot this video with?
thank you! this was shot on the Fuji XH2
Nice Video! But i have another question...What jacket is it that youre wearing? Thank you :)
thank you! hahaha got this question a couple of times :) it's a parka by a German brand called "Nowadays"
What is your favorite focus mode?
Beautiful video and what a beautiful lost and found story!! Faith in humanity restored
When it says custom color profile. What does that mean? Newbie to Fuji x100v. Love the look. Would love to replicate the simulation. Thx
Hey there! By custom color I mean a complete, customised color profile made with a color lookup in Lightroom. This is what I use sometimes instead of a "preset" in Lightroom. These are harder to replicate since I'm not using one of the Fujifilm simulations.
Great video! Do you use your mist filter only at night or also in daylight?
when I use the X100V, the mist filter is almost always on the camera, no matter the time of the day
all these videso are funny to me now. i've been eyeballing the x100 series since the x100T, but apparently I only want one now because of hype. good to know
well, this video actually says that you want one because of its hybrid viewfinder, image quality, weather sealing, compact size, design, fuji color and simulations etc… not because of the hype.
Nice video and really nice photos as well! You did really well buying it before the hype made this camera impossible to get! 📸 Cheers
Incredible video and story mate. Great work!
Thank you so much Deniz!
Nice job on the video, great shots.
Wonderful story of how your camera found its way back to you 😎
So sympathisch! Danke für das tolle Video und deine Meinung zur X100 ✌🏻😊
You come across as a really nice guy and a decent photographer to boot and I wish you very success with your channel.
What is the pro mist brand that you use, 1/4 or 1/8
Really like your style and thank you that you do great vdo ❤
Hey! Thank you for the kind words and apologies, I am probably mispronouncing the name: it is Tiffen amzn.to/3EZp6dc
Where is the links?
Nice video, beautiful photos and good tips (I didn't know about the pro-mist filters). I want this camera.
