Just got my X100vi and couldnt find any videos for settings so this was a God send. It seems way more complicated then what I'm used to on my Nikon Z8 but i guess its probably just as tricky. Hopefully i will get a hang of the controls quickly.. Was so happy to see back button focusing was possible as ive been so used to that for years.
Awesome man, just changed the title to include VI actually as most of the settings are the same, so thanks for the heads up on that!
A lot of the fuji stuff is a little unintuitive yes, especially when it comes to the flash. You’ll get used to the menus and stuff though. At least theyre consistent through the different generations unlike Sony 🙃
Enjoy your x100vi man!
Yeah I got mine last Monday and have been struggling with the menu's and setup. Very frustrating at times my wife asked me if I wanted to return it. The written manual is hard to comprehend but these RUclips videos are super helpful!!! Today I went out and took some pictures with a custom menu and love the results!
I find it amazing that whoever designs this menu system can make it so overly complicated in places. Is this because they are not photographers, check the unintuitive steps or just give up to get the job done quickly? - a rhetorical question.
@@christianpetersen1782 took me 2 hours to find out how to change the configuration of the fields in the Q menu… passed by 1000x. All I needed to do was push one more time over to the right after selecting how many options I wanted in the Q menu 😭
Beyond phenomenal video! Absolutely outstanding. Thankyou so much!
I just received my Fuji X100VI camera 2 days ago after a long 6 months wait !!!!! (Ordered it on release day back in Feb, here in Melbourne 🇦🇺!)
This video is FANTASTIC. Thankyou again for making this and all your sensational tips!!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
This was incredible. I'm a Sony user who got this as a fun travel/daily camera and setting it up was so daunting. Thanks for explaining each item. Well worth watching the entire video.
Thanks so much! really happy to hear you found it helpful :)
Just got aa used V as a Sony NEX guy. The amount of options and button is... a lot.
i have been watching videos like this for 2 days and non of theme is as clear, inconclusive, and easy to understand as this one
thank you so much
That means a lot, thanks for taking the time to let me know, and I’m glad you found it helpful 😌 have a great day!
Hi Eddy. I wasn't going to watch this video but boy am I glad i did. This must be the best explained menu system of the X100v on youtube. Much appreciated 👏
Just discovered your channel while searching content for learning stuff for my ne x100vi, and appreciate how you explain things. very natural way of speaking and "less" scripted. keep the good work. I'll check also your other videos to discover the channel.
thank you! thats very big compliement :)
very helpful thank you
You’re welcome man!
Wow you crushed this video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of this camera.
Thanks very much!
What an amazing video! Thank you very much for this detailed guidance. Really really helpful!
I got mine delivered this afternoon so the timing on this vid is nice
Ahh perfect! Its a truly great camera, I hope you enjoy it!
Hopefully this video will help you to get the most from it :)
Great Video, thank you!
The "Instant AF Setting" is for getting a short autofocus push in Manual Focus mode. This is also really great if you want back button Focus, without switching the whole camera to BBF (Maybe you want to hand it to someone who doesn't understand BBF).
Switch the camera to manual focus und you can push AEL/AFL button to focus with this button.
Hi Eddie, I’m new here. Thank you so much for running through all this. Congratulations in being able to absorb it all and being so able to relay it clearly to us out here. Have just ordered mine so probably in for a long wait. I’ve saved you video to play again when my camera arrives.
By the way the red colour option in Information Contrast Adjust is for when working in the dark i.e. astrophotography. The subdued red means that one doesn’t loose one’s night vision which has adjusted to the darkness. It means that one is able to continue to see the smallest stars in the sky.
You’re welcome! Glad you found it informative and I hope it helps when your new camera arrives! 😌
Also, that’s really interesting, I didn’t know that, but it makes perfect sense. I did an astronomy session before at a local observatory and they were saying about the importance of not looking at anything bright so your eyes adjust. Makes sense why the red is so dim. Thanks for sharing that!
Great breakdown! Thank you for running through all of this.
No problem! Thanks for watching :)
Thank you soo much!! Watched the whole Video and it did help me soo much to unterstand all the settings a bit better! You are the best!!
no problem thanks so much for watching!
Shutter count around 20k on mine but I still learned some stuff from this video! Thanks
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching :)
It was super helpful! Many thanks!!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Very helpful video, may thanks. Might you consider a short video as an update just to cover the additional menu features and differences of the X100VI?
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Unfortunately I don’t have a VI but when I get my hands on one I can definitely do that yeah!
Massive help, thank you!
glad to hear it! 😁
Yes Eddy! Thanks so much 🙌🏻

You're very welcome! thanks for watching!
Thanks kid that was very helpful indeed.
Nice! All I needed in one video! Thanks!
No problem :)
Hey eddie thank you for the tutorial! I was curious on what the yellow sticker was on front of your camera and why you had it on there, I'm sure you have it on there for a reason!
Hi mate! It’s just a little yellow smiley face sticker! No reason really other than I liked it haha 😁 thanks for watching!
this video was so helpful to me, thank you so much!
Glad to hear that! thank you for watching :)
So great. Thanks for doing this

greta video and many thanks for all the effort `and sharing of knowledge
No problem, thanks for watching!
Thanks a lot ! Very very useful
When i go into video mode how do i get my camera to show the exposure im at in live view on the screen? Shooting in manual. Also how do i see the focus points in video mode?
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it, thank you!
I might of missed this part of the video. But i cant figure out how to turn on the AF assist LED beam when taking in built flash photo's in dark situations. i need help hahaha
Superb! Tnx
no problem!
YES!!!!! Thank you!!!
You are welcome! Thanks for watching 😊
great video
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this. I'm a little sad people use a 1500 Euro camera with so many amazing features and beautiful analogue design as just a point and shoot. Or maybe you use it for more purposes. I have now seen portrait shoots done with these cameras. Wedding photographers also use them. They really are that good.
I feel like i use most features on it most of the time, but if people wanna just shoot on auto i think thats fine too! Its a great camera for all skill levels :) Thanks for watching!
thanks a lot!!
Is there a way to assign a custom button to switch between photo and video mode?
i dont believe there is no, but if you press 'drive' and then up on the joystick it puts it into movie mode, and 'drive' > down on the joystick will put it back into photo mode, thats the fastest way to do it!
sweet, thank you!
No problem!
nice video, your preset? do you have a link?
Thank you! I’ve not released any of them yet, but will be soon
Amazing !!!
Thanks!!
Hi Eddie! Cannot for the life of me turn on the flash, how do I check my drive mode, maybe it's in burst? I don't know if it's in burst, bought my Fujifilm used.
To the right of the viewfinder there’s a drive/delete button. Hit that and pick the top option (still image).
If that doesn’t work, go to flash menu and make sure built in flash is turned on at the bottom of that menu, and then at the top of that menu (flash function setting) click that and use the scroll wheel on the back until it says TTL
It’s really not intuitive at all, the main fault I have with the fuji cameras. It should just be one option and if it’s set to burst mode and can’t fire, it should tell you that!
Hope that helps anyway
Thank you for getting back to quickly!! It's in still image and the built in flash is turned on. When I scroll on the wheel nothing happens - just stays unactivated, like I can't use it. Let me know! xx

@@rosajrgensen1906 okay 2 more things, make sure the electronic shutter is turned off and you have mechanical shutter selected, and make sure ‘sound and flash off’ is turned off, it’s in the wrench menu somewhere. Let me know if these work!
I would disagree very strongly, continous with auto focus custom setting number two, (leopard icon) which works quite well for full body potraits and group portraits. Where people are active and moving in places such as weddings. It will track them nicely.
I use af-c on my sony cameras all the time and i love it but I’ve just personally found it to be slow and unreliable on the x100v! Will have to give it another try sometime though :) thanks for watching!
@@EddyMaynard I wouldn't use it for sports, but it's good for people simply moving around.
🐐🐐
❤️❤️
I could not locate the multiple exposure control on my camera
it in the drive > advanced setting :)
Lossless compression should be lossless. which means, you don't loss any quality at all
In theory yes but in reality you do lose some quality when recovering highlights and shadows in post, I’ve tried and tested this on both Fuji and Sony and while the difference is small, there’s definitely a difference
What if you just use recipes only that’s what I use
Then just select JPEG instead of raw + jpeg. Although I still think it’s handy to have the raws as you can make new jpegs from them in-camera by pressing the Q button when you’re looking at the images
@@EddyMaynard I definitely have to try it when I sit down and I’m gonna mess with my camera and do some of your settings
amen to sepia
