    The fact that UW *also* has the blindness effect on top of what makes it powerful already blew my mind. The whole "two-perks-in-one when one of them is good on its own" pattern with newer perks is next level powercreep right now.

      It’s the killers version of mft. Already strong perk that is debatably too strong, with another strong effect slapped on top of it

      ​@fart63 you just said a whole Lotta nothing. Both perks serve different purposes. Mft strong because funny haste and UW strong because of tracking. Plus blindness is a weak status effect. A decent player will not mind 30 seconds of blindness

      @@paradox4576 eh but it's still not really comparable since uw doesn't guarantee you a hit. If the killer hits the mft user, the killer is robbed out of their down, and the mft user is able to waste more time. Again, they're both very different perks hat can't be compared with the only exception being that they're overturned but they both serve different purposes

    I think it's just really funny that we got darkness revealed with Dredge a rather niche aura reading locker perk & then it just gets completely destroyed in nearly every way when we compare it to ultimate weapon.

      You can say the same about several perks. Dark theory is the ass tier MFT for example.

      @@creativename5724 The thing with dark theory is it is specifically designed for the boon system not just general use. Ultimate Weapon & Darkness Revealed they both trigger in the exact same way "open locker perk activates"

      Well now we run darkness revealed to stop calm spirit, then when distortion pops up we go back to UW, then when we make the survivors run both Perks we stop running them both and start running huntress lullaby.

      What are you talking about darkness revealed is great in most maps. The only thing that sucks is it dies to distortion.

    Spies from the Shadows, before Calm Spirit became more meta, was a seriously underrated perk because no one expected it. I never got flashlighted. On Pinhead, it was way easier to figure out where the box was because I was getting pretty good alerts to the Survivor locations. If I saw crows getting disturbed in places it made no sense to be, and then a survivor portrait turned yellow, I didn't have to wait for them to walk off and solve it. I just went over there and took it from them.

      Would you not be able to achieve the exact same result by simply...looking slightly up? I get that on some maps (mainly indoor, but there are some outliers) it is harder to see crows flying away, but Spies is just such an empty-minded replacement for being observant that I can't understand wasting a slot on it; to be fair though, I am certainly not a massive Pinhead fan so it might just weirdly work well with him.

      ​@@plutov7808sure, you can just look out for crows, but the whole point with Spies is that your not going to see most of the crows that fly away. You have to be looking in the right direction to see them at all, assuming the map isn't blocking your view.
      Spies will point out anyone lurking nearby whether you can physically see the crow or not. It's not the best since it shows you the crow that triggered it rather than the survivor, but it certainly has its uses when trying to find stealth gamers.

      @@plutov7808 Late response, but ask most high skill players whether good eyesight or good hearing is more important for playing killer. A lot will tell you it is more important to be able to hear well. Sound cues in DbD are way more valuable than visual ones.

    Calm Spirit also counters Infectious Fright, Face the Darkness, MYC's scream which identifies the rescuer and basically destroys Doctor as a Killer, not to mention prevents crows flying away which is incredibly useful as a distant signal for Killers.

    As someone who's almost always solo, blindness status effect is pretty frustrating, especially when it persists while hooked. It probably doesn't affect a swf as much.
    How dare I want to know what my team is doing when I'm waiting on hook...

      @@James_Philip915 When getting unhooked, it’s useful to know how far the killer while chasing someone. If the killer is near, they’re likely to just sprint back to the hook to tunnel, especially after this anti-facecamping patch. I played like 15 games yesterday in a swf and 12 of them had killers consistently running back to the unhook even from across the damn map.

    It's a good perk against survivors who tend to hide and aren't so confident in chase. Against good survivors, it takes away their windows of opportunity, which still isn't a bad effect, but you'll rarely be able to find and catch them in a deadzone thanks to this perk. Good survivors know to stay away from deadzones and are often capable of looping from tile to tile without giving you a hit.

      I have no issues with ultimate weapon with the current survivor meta. I want them to buff killer. I hate winning all the time

      I mean sure but if you're playing against Nurse for example, stealth is one of the few things that keeps her in check.. Many Killers are very hard to avoid if they have an almost unavoidable and unpredictable way to flush you out of hiding whenever they want.

    I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the added bonus of 30s of blindness on top of it, which means that depending on the match, you could be blinded for a large portion of the game, and so aura reading perks for the survivors lose a ton of value.
    A great example I love to reference is Fearmonger. It's a great perk that helps to counter exhaustion perks, with the added benefit of making it difficult to use information-gathering perks while you're otherwise sitting still fixing a generator. If you run things like Bond or your teammate runs Kindred, you have to make the choice to stop repairing in order to utilize those perks and gather that information. **But**, you have the choice to do so. It adds a fun level of decision making and counterplay.
    Apart from Calm Spirit or hiding in lockers (or not being in the terror radius ever), there's no counterplay to UW, and 30s is a long, long time in DBD.

      What's the counter to Discordance? Or Floods of Rage? Info perks rarely have counters other than Blindness. UW is too strong yes, but complaining about counterplay is a bit silly in the case of an info perk imho

      The info portion isn't what I was referring to regarding the counterplay, it was more the Blindness portion. If we can assume a killer utilizes UW relatively close to CD, and put ourselves on a small map like meat plant, this perk alone not only provides strong information for the killer (Which I think is fine) but will also deprive survivors of any aura reading perks they may be running, for a substantial portion of the game, with essentially no counterplay. It's not the only thing in the game that does it, Nurse is a good example, but most every source of blindness has either a short duration or fair counterplay, or is restricted (Like Nurse add-on).@@tonio3375

    Been using Calm Spirit for a few weeks now and I quite like it.
    It pairs well with Dramaturgy which i like to run.
    It counters Doctor and to a certain extend Pinhead.
    It counters Ultimate Weapon obviously, but it also counters Face the darkness, which Ive seen quite often on Sadakos.

      yeah lots of new reasons to run CS that aren't because of just this 1 perk. scene partner too it can synergy with and the iron maiden from reload killers...just dont try to do totems lol

    For a balance change idea for Ultimate weapon, what about this.
    Keep the cooldown the same or maybe even lower it BUT you have it activate only while you open the locker and the effect doesn't follow you around. Almost like a Thwack but for lockers.
    That way you can use it to check if there is anyone in the area, in case there are survs trying to stealth near a gen or corner of the map.

      that would make it borderline the worst info perk in the game. Being based off your terror radius means that you would only be able to check a single area of the map every 30 secs and with many killers wanting smaller terror radius' that would make it totally unusable for them. I think currently it's good but it's only so strong because people were nto expecting it, now it's getting countered more and more and is basically just flavour of the month. If I had to change it I would just increase the CD to 50/45/40 secs and lower the blindness to 20 secs. Those small changes would mean a huge change overall.

      That would make it far too situational. Lockers aren’t always in a good spot. Spending the time opening one to maybe see if there is a survivor near by isn’t worth it. You might as well run no where to hide given that it at least gives you info around gens, where survivors are likely to be, and still lingers for a few seconds.

      That seems like it would make the perk pretty useless. I don't think UW needs a nerf at all. Other tracking perks should be made stronger so that they're all as viable.

    Otz is a mad man for baiting the pallet throw at the start of game 1. I've seen some killers get hit with a pallet from absurd distances.

      Oh yes, some pallet drops are more cheating than ping/server or from the server . But i think with killers like xenomorph ,nemesis,pinhead it's mire often than doctor or other killer. Pinhead and nemi take the hand forward and maybe the hitbox is bigger , the same with xeno in crawler mode with his "little friend" .this or it's a bug, but i get stunned from 3 meters away , that is not possible with the own hitbox

      It's ping. Survivor side or Killer side. It blows my mind watching Twitch streamers vault a pallet and not get hit. I could vault it and literally get my feet on the ground and still get hit, all because I'm still playing on Ps4 Pro and I'm on the other side of the house from the router. If I try to do the same thing on Killer, I'm whiffing and bumping off vaults and pallets left and right. Genuinely makes me angry whenever I play a crossplay game, which is every single battle-pass game now.

      Connect your PS4 directly to your router, there are ways to do it without being next to the router.
      My PC is upstairs, the router is downstairs, but I'm directly plugged instead of using wifi, so my ping is great.

    Ultimate Weapon basically allows you to enter old Doctor’s Treatment mode for a madness 1 proc.

    I doubt MFT is getting nerfed any time soon. It took 5 years for Dead Hard to be adjusted.
    As for UW, I think Survivors will adapt with time. The thing about aura vs screams is that aura is more subtle. Survivors don't know when their aura is being read. When you scream, you are aware of the Killer being notified of your location, which gives you more time to make a decision on how to react.

      That is a smart observation actually. Imagine if Darkness Revealed, a perk that works the same way as UW showed peoples auras in killers TR instead of just close to lockers. You'd be able to sneak up on them and attack them.
      At least when a survivor screams, they know that you know where they are, so they can react accordingly

      Distortion is so common though that aura reading perks aren't as good anymore. Even when I play survivor I often have several Distortion gamers in my team (nothing like playing full aura Huntress and face 4 Distortions, am I right ?

      I think the interuption is an important trade off. It's very good when paired with Dead Man's switch or Merciless Storm and it can help protect Hex perks like Devour Hope.

    when i first saw this perk i figured it would only trigger on the first survivor to enter your terror radius and then deactivate. that seems a lot more balanced than what we have currently lol

    A thing to note is it works in lockers too, unlike every other scream mechanic in the game including doctor.

    Oh noooo, survivors have to use a perk to counter something the killer has, tragic. How will they ever recover from this?
    Me using STBFL and Lightborn trying to deny FTP Buckle Up and hyperspeed Background Player clickys... First time?

      They did fix that, but staying in a locker for *thirty seconds* is a huge waste of time that could be spent doing something more useful, like doing a gem or resetting.

    Also of note is that you can check for Calm Spirit by hitting or hooking them, since it also prevents those screams as well

    I think it would be awesome if it just had a different activation. Lockers annoy me because it’s spam Mable but also interrupts standard gameplay to go randomly open one. I think the activation should be a bit more difficult but it should also be something that occurs naturally in gameplay

    This also for sure applies to strategies like superfriends, shrines, etc.. The unfortunate part is that often I have to say before the game starts that I’m going to have to focus them. Because once they start going they are gone.

    I don’t mind UW bc getting chased by the killer is why I like playing the game (as long as team is doing gens appropriately of course) only time I hate seeing it is when it’s a nurse or super good blight since chases will already be tough to extend vs those killers. Losing out on the little bit of time a nurse would normally spending looking for someone to chase makes it tough to knock gens out unless I’m playing with the best of the best friends on my list. I think ppl dislike this perk bc it’s a 2 in 1 perk (which survivors also have plenty of) and that it punishes newer/weaker survivors that already struggle in chase so they wanna play hide and sneak.

    See I ran it because sometime's I liked not hearing screams, and also as a "screw you in particular" to doctor and oni (doctor doesn't get to find you with his power, Oni doesn't get infectious, and to a lesser extent huntress/trickster don't get iron maiden info). Other killers run it, but Oni is like the most prolific)

    I think the screaming is a problem as it can interrupt skill checks / proc dead mans and so on. If it were to be made into Killer Instinct instead I think it would be more reasonable.
    Edit: Didn't even think of the fact you're able to tell who is who based on their scream, killer instinct also fixes that.

    Good ideas for slight nerfs of ultimate weapon. The perk is fine if adjusted a little I think. You also provided some nice counterplay ideas here.

    Spies from the shadows is one of my favorite perks just for the chaos it introduces. It makes finding new targets to switch to mid chase easy and it can tell you when people are close to you as your hooking. It just helps apply pressure is ways that break apart their teamwork imho.

    I am a Jake Park main so I used to use Calm Spirit as a part of a stealth/chase-break build, but it truly shined when I went against a Doctor lol (I hate Doctors).

    Instead of a longer cooldown they could do what they did for nowhere to hide and just make it within like 24-32 meters of the locker or they could simply cut how long the perk is active down by say half, it’s active for 15 seconds instead of 30 with the same cooldown length.

    Man, it’s only a matter of time before this gets nerfed which is a shame since all other tracking perks as you said are super weak in comparison. Honestly, once they change it, I hope they go the more aggressive less powerful route with it where it only makes the first survivor entering your terror radius scream and as soon as it does it goes instantly to cool down for 30 seconds. A LOT of perks would benefit from a more aggressive change, as a lot of the time it’s not really the effects of perks that are weak it’s just that they don’t come to play often enough to be worth running

    Yeah. At the end I was going to say the blindness was absolutely clutch (for the killer) in a couple of my survivor matches. I was not able to rescue before someone went to 2nd hook because of the blindness. I don't recall if the survivor was salty about me not getting them.

    The combination of blindness with the tracking has been rough on me as a solo player. Teammate is hooked, I sit on my gen for 10 seconds, determine that I need to go for the rescue, start moving over there, scream and get 30 seconds of blindness. My choices are continue to the hook with killer knowing exactly where I'm coming from (probably going to be a trade or worse), or try to reposition. If i don't have the exact hook location locked in mind, since I now can't see the hook, person might be going to second stage :X

      No for real. The blindness is bad for people who don’t play as often like me! I just came back into the game and went for a hook save and legot could not find the hook for those 30 seconds! I knew the area they were in but could not for the life of me find the hook. It should have one or the other not a reveal and a blindness

    One of the most egregious things about Ultimate Weapon is that it takes an action that *most* killers *rarely* ever want to do and usually has a *substantial* cost (opening any random locker) and turned it in to something that *every killer* wants to do almost as often as possible with *very little* cost.
    If checking lockers was a problem, this was not the solution.

    I don’t know. Aura perks last a lot longer. You can follow survivor auras for 8-10 seconds depending on stuff. Screaming lets you know where they were and could be hidden before you get there.

      Yea but you can run around the map picking targets so its a strong perk. But I'm fine with this, I just think the blindness effect is busted for soloq and should be removed from the perk.

      You are forgetting the point. This perks has a way too effects many in 1. Not just revealing locations, it also gives blindness for 30 seconds, it interrupts any action, and it's so overpowered when combined with certain other perks.

      Honestly didn't have a problem with it until it came to Bubba proxy camping. It really makes it obvious when combined with DMS that the duration is a bit too long and the cooldown is too short due to how easy it is to trigger.
      I'd like to see the active duration lowered to 20 seconds to keep it strong but move it to a more fair position when playing against it.

    it is interesting people picking up calm spirit, i picked it up immediately when i started playing few years back, because i am huge noob, and this helped me evade thanks to not disrupting crows, i also was versing against doctors a lot and i hoped that not screaming wouldnt reveal me

      It's also a gen checking perk. I just have to walk 32m to a gen that's far off to know of I need to go check it or not. Survivors can't counter it by leaving because they won't know when you have it up. Why look for healers with nurse's when I can find everyone easily and interrupt their heal? You getting it yet?

    I think a good change would be to change prerequisite of THWACK and UW. UW only usable once after each hook. THWACK 45s CD same effect as it has now, but no prerequisite of hooking. Makes UW less opressive (max 11x per game) and THWACK would see use because its its prerequisite is on a much stronger perk now

      PERIOD!!! there is no comparison to the two. MFT gives a pure buff after getting hit making chases just objectively harder, not to mention the bonus endurance effect. this is just information. it doesn't guarantee a hit in the slightest and he even mentions "if you have sprint burst just dash away" and the information is out dated in 2 secs. If anything this is great for M1 killers that already dont have info built into their kit and are slow af at map pressure.

    UW is ridiculously good, i think its more important to nerf it than MFT to be honest, since people cant even tell for sure if someone does have MFT while chasing or not, its note game breaking in my opinion (it can be a tweaked a little bit tho)

    Ultimate Weapon also only shows a screaming aura for a second. Survivors can make distance from that, it doesnt provide perfect tracking. If it gave a few seconds of Aura Reading, then I'd say its busted but with survivors having perks like MFT, Adrenaline and Off the Record this perk is fine.

      exactly... I hate the both sides have strong perks argument. no. we can all agree on things that are really busted. Old and not so old DH were busted, old ruin, old call of brine/ buffed overcharge, current MFT, old healing boon... these are all obviously game breaking things we all can objectively say are not healthy. This is not even close to any of those. Just cause killers got a couple strong or interesting perks doesn't mean they need the nerf hammer to come down.

      Also, I don't like justifying one busted perk with other busted perks. That's the exact same conversation we had with old Dead Hard and old Erruption six months ago.
      As for the tracking, Killers with high mobility like Nurse, Wesker or Blight can be onto you in seconds after the scream. Its not fine in my opinion because I think that hiding and stealth are valid and important parts of the game.
      I play Killer with Ultimate Weapon and even I think that it is too powerful. In my opinion, they should increase the cooldown and remove the Blindness.

    I've been using calm spirit and dramaturgy.
    Also, most people don't know this, but calm spirit makes you dropping from heights way way quieter. it has saved my ass more times than i can count. because the killer always believes they will hear you.

    Well now it's weirdly a good time to pull out the Hex totem builds, since Calm Spirit has the side effect of making totem cleansing take 35% longer (but silent).
    Imo, I think it'd be kinda cool if the 4 perks in the Shrine of Secrets were super-buffed to a "Tier 4" variant for that week only. It'd be cool to see a different meta pop up each week while the other team tries to make a build or strategy to counter it

    I like this perk when running trickster since I have to reload anyway it activates then I can try to watch and throw blades as a survivor it can b difficult to see hooked or down teammates which can lead to a massive snowball for the killer

Then only generally decent perk there is Lethal and its still fine since auras > screaming (exact + ongoing vs general area + a moment ago). Just sucks since it only procs once in the entire match. Fearmongers blindness always was a nonfactor.

    i was playing a few nights ago, and 12 out of 14 matches killers were using this perk. after the 3rd game me and my buddy put on calm spirit. kinda felt bad for the other duos, cuz they were getting found all game and we were basically invisible.

    I used to run 2+ tracking perks on most killers because I enjoy that kind of gameplay more than just piling on regression and slowing the game to a crawl (even if that's more effective). After a couple of games playing with Ultimate Weapon I realised I no longer needed any other tracking perk. It's definitely too good.

    It could help if they made it so that when the perk gets used, the survivors see a yellow aura of the locker that the perk got activated on so the survivors also get info on where the killer is and where they should avoid to not get detected. Then make the duration a bit shorter or the cd longer or both like you said.

    Hello Otz, I recently started playing DBD and consequently watching your channel. Anyways I was in a match earlier against a Booba and all the survivors kept getting downed and we would heal each other over and over. Anyways the cycle stopped and I started doing the second gen, then Booba found me, I juked him and then he instantly downed me with his main weapon when I was full health, and then he killed me. I hadn't been hooked a single time throughout the match and he only got one hit on me in that time (not including the down). How is it possible that he killed me despite all of this? Thanks!

    The cooldown is so short it may as well be unlimited, and they can scan the whole map with one use. Darkness revealed is a good reference. Very strong, but it has limitations. Should be the same for ultimate weapon as well.

    You have to remember that a bug was making this perk appear stronger than it is, a bug that is now fixed. You can naturally get into a locker to completely avoid the scream effect of the perk in case you don't want to be found, or run Calm Spirit to be immune to the perk. It's not as uncounterable as it seems and the perk itself at the end of the day, is only a problem on killers like Nurse...who makes even mediocre perks look strong.
    I remember when I played Nurse and felt bad running Sloppy Butcher before it even got the hemorrhage update. Sloppy was never the issue.

      Getting into a locker against a killer that close is extremely risky, + how the hell are you supposed to know when to get in. Do you want people to just hide in lockers all game? That’s like telling people to just dodge old eruption. Also, calm spirit is a garbage perk in almost every single situation. So in the majority of games where people are not running Ultimate Weapon, it’s literally a hindrance to the player and their team rather than a perk.

      ​​@@fart63get in the locker when the killer finishes hooking someone. They'll almost always go for a locker and then start walking around with ultimate weapon. As soon as you see that you got hit with blindness, go out and continue with your objective.
      Also calm spirit is by no means garbage. It counters several killers and viable perks Jolt, Pain Resonance, Ultimate Weapon, hex: Face the Darkness, and etc. Plus it works against 7 killer powers (Trapper, Hag, Doctor, Clown, Freddy, Pinhead, Pyramid Head). I could go in huge detail and bore you with everything calm spirit is able to counter and do, but the point is, the perk is by no means a waste of a slot and it's only gonna get more strong with each update since they've been releasing a lot of killer perks that make you scream.

    Increasing the cooldown by a lot (or adding more strict conditions to activate it along the same lines as THWACK! and Pain Resonance) and reducing the duration a bit is probably the easiest way to balance it, which I wouldn't be upset to see. It would keep the scanning aspect of it while keeping it somewhat in check. However, reducing the duration has a bigger impact on the less mobile/weaker killers while the more mobile and stronger killers aren't effected by it so much.
    So maybe getting rid of the duration entirely so it's just anyone around the locker screams is the way to go (and you could probably buff it in other places to compensate; maybe reduce the cooldown or increase the radius, maybe even make affected survivors also oblivious (I'd love to see it do this anyway with nerfs to compensate; screaming and then not being able to hear the killer coming with this perk would be awesome and scary), etc).

    tbh the blind effect of it isn't noticeable to me since baseline you don't even see but for a VERY FEW auras like a downed/hooked person, but hooks light up anyway to show where someone is on one, so, that's always been a meaningless aura to block.
    If you're running "show pallets/windows" aura perk yeah maybe it counters that? but Killer has FOUR slots to survivor's SIXTEEN slots, so one killer perk countering a few things is fine.

    I ran this on Huntress in a custom last night because I couldn’t find another perk to run on her that I really liked and this looked interesting so i was like whatever - then it became the most useful perk I used that game. Unbelievable perk.

    Otz i played against a wesker with ultimate weapon dead mans and distressing and it showed really how annoying ultimate weapon can be if you wanna try it out

    This peks strong against auras perks, like fearmonger to fog whise,i wish they buff this perk to see killer aura if you got any great and specific skillcheck.

    Wait, has UW been updated? Whenever I've been in a locker to counter this perk it doesn't work - UW makes survivors scream even in a locker. But Otz just said you can get in a locker to counter that. Was it a bug and has it been fixed in the latest update?

    Does Ultimate Weapon work with the Spirit’s husk location or on her “spirit” location while she’s phasing? I just had a game where I screamed at weird times and I didn’t know who else to ask 😂
