    Another cool tip: If you are doing a side job that gives a phone number, you can call the phone number in your appartment, check the call logs from your building to see where the call went, then check the call logs in the building where you call went to to further narrow down which appartment.

    A few tips for filling out profiles efficiently: You will be able to fill out most of a person's profile by visiting their workplaces. Somewhere in the workplace, there will be a drawer or cabinet with employee files, this will give you most information, but not all.
    Another fun tip, if you want to investigate a workplace during the day, speak to the receptionist and ask for a guest pass. Sure, you'll have to pay a bit, but the information is worth it.
    Thirdly, relevant to above, if you want to access a room with a lock while you have a pass, or if you want to sidetrack anyone inside and sneak in there, just knock on the door. It will make the an NPC stop what they are doing, after a bit, and open it for you. Useful for getting into security rooms of businesses.
    Fourth tip: Keep an eye out for pass codes, and if you ever find one, don't be afraid to use it where you can. If you fill out a pass code at least once, it will automatically fill any time after.
    And, finally, my favourite little trick. If you see someone working on their computer, you can disrespect their personal space, sit on their lap, and use it yourself. They don't actually care, they just let you do your own thing, but from the computers, you can access their profiles, which gives a bit of bonus information compared to the employee records, specifically address and passcode. Feel free to use the passcode on their locker if they have one, or even log them out and log them back in.
    I hope my wall of tips helps any would-be detectives out there.

    My friend convinced me to get this. Very good decision. But now I’m 3 murders in, 2 solved and the third one is well, it seems impossible. No prints at the scene, nor footprints. No murder weapon in sight, only an unreadable message scrawled across the wall. No sign of anyone near the apartment at the time of the murder. I’m stumped! I feel like I’m going to have to wait until another victim ends up dead 😭

    • @thatboywags
      @thatboywags  Год назад +24

      Hmm, that's a tough one. Do you have a murder weapon or know the cause of death? The wall messages are also always unreadable on my end too, but usually a little bit after the murder, you can pick up a newspaper and it'll might tell you what was written on the wall, as well as some other information that might help.
      If the cause of death was a gun of some sorts, try to look up in the city directory, places that have "tools" or "hardware" in their name. These are usually fronts for underground gunsmiths. They tend to have sales records and you can track down people who have bought weapons around the time of your victims death.
      I hope some of this helps you!

      @@thatboywags I recommend checking the basement areas, a handful of homeless hang there, or on the outer circle of a city/near factories. But as far as I can tell I've run into 2-3 people who weren't in the phone book and the one I did check wasn't in the gov database.
      Just checking, I've found a person with an address of 'none' and job title of 'none' who was in the gov system so I might be partially incorrect or it might not be consistent if they started with a job and lost it or any number of reasons but I am 100% sure homeless people don't get phone numbers or anything since I can't find the person in the phone book.

    Might be mentioned in the comments somewhere, but, keep an eye on the graffiti on the walls as you wander town- There are two passwords you can acquire, one for a black market dealer, one for a gun dealer. The black market dealer is like a pawn shop, but will give you better deals on your sales, and may have useful items that you would want to buy like cameras or trackers for cheaper than city hall. Nice video & tips.
    Some tips of mine:
    - The game is still pretty buggy. Saving and reloading seems to fix 90% of the bugs though, so if anything weird happens like a case step won't activate, or something is behaving weirdly, try reloading before you decide to just give up the case.
    - In diners and bars, there are often employee photos on display in the common area without you needing to break in anywhere or trespass, so you may as well quickly inspect all of these photos so that later on if you encounter one of these characters in a job, you'll already have some basic information.
    - You can often convince people (usually for a small sum of money) to give you a guest pass to allow you to look around their home - I think this also works for offices too. This is especially handy if their home is well secured and you don't want to deal with dodging/switching off the security system. When you have a guest pass they don't seem to mind you looking through all their stuff, and they'll only complain if you steal items directly in front of them.
    - Lockpicking progress remembers the bars you've already completed. So if you encounter one of those difficult locks where you need to unlock like 8 bars, and keep getting spotted, you can just keep stopping lockpicking after a bar is complete and going back to it, minimising the time window in which you're visibly doing something illegal. Super useful if there's a camera on you that you haven't turned off too, since a single lockpicking bar is AFAIK always shorter than the time for the camera to trigger an alarm.
    - If you've already broken into a business, may as well look through the employee files since they have a ton of information about every single person who works there, and you can reuse this same information later in other cases.
    - Employee photos usually have the person's fingerprints on them, so if you suspect the culprit is employed somewhere but don't know which employee it is, just go up to the photo board and scan each photo for fingerprints, and you can often solve the case that way.

      Along with your tip about employee photos having their fingerprints on it, the same goes for pretty much any item the npc owns. A licence will tend to have that person's fingerprints on it, same with their work schedule, and their side of the bed and end table, etc.

    • @thatboywags
      @thatboywags  Год назад +1

      Yeah with the procedurally generated murders, sometimes you can end up with barely any evidence which makes it almost impossible to solve some cases.
      My advice though, wherever you found the body or bodies, like if it was in an apartment.. try to go around and scan other apartment doors on that floor for the same print. Then the surrounding floors.
      Check any possible camera footage if there some nearby, recordings only last for 24 hours tho I'm pretty sure.
      If you have the first name, try the gov database and you can find the address and full name of that person by typing their name in the cruncher.
      Good luck! Hopefully you solve it!

    • @thatboywags

      It depends if you're playing sandbox or the story mode I think. I had the same thing playing storymode where the next part of the game refused to progress after the first case.
      In sandbox however, you don't just pick up another case, you have to wait for another killer to strike and then it'll pop up on your screen.

    2 quick questions, what graphics settings do you play on, the game is quite FPS heavy, Also how do you get into apartments when the cops are already their?

    • @thatboywags
      @thatboywags  Год назад +1

      I've actually just been playing with the default settings except I lower the frame rate to 60 since that's all my monitor can output anyway. It reverts the settings back tho every single time I get back on.
      As for the enforcers, they're pretty dumb. After they check the apartment, one will just loiter around the hall. If they turn their back at any time, you can pretty much just run in and close the door behind you and they won't care.
      If you're having a lot of trouble tho, you can use the vent passages to try and find a way in. Or distract the enforcers by throwing coins from your inventory.

    • @jojoba705
      @jojoba705 Год назад +2

      Usually for enforcers guarding the place I’m able to just run right through the door and hide in the apartment itself, enforcers will usually only peek through the doorway if they see u sprint in due to their “last known point” AI searching for u. I like to imagine it as the enforcers letting me pass willingly even though they aren’t legally supposed to
