- The Final 10 Things You Didn't Know About Payday video didn't age so well... I already have half of another episode in this series worth of secrets ready to go. It's crazy how deep these things run in Payday 2. I hope you enjoy today's epsiode and play along with the Like/Dislike game depending on what you learned from this video! The secret at 7:15 'Answer the Phone' is actually not Hotline Miami inspired. Although it could double as a Hotline Easter Egg, it actually references a Payday: The Heist community joke about being unable to answer the phone on Counterfeit. Big shout out to PeaseMaker for bringing this to my attention!
i was just playing counterfeit for the first time tryin stop the cops from coming as much as i could, bain says to answer the phone and i hear it but freakin out bc i can’t find it.. little did i know it’s a troll
You can find it on the Harvest and Trustee bank maps if you buy the Vantage Point asset and look at the AC unit up there; I always thought it was about the fact that the dumbass manager can be sitting in his office and the phone just rings away.
I think the joke also originated from people trying to figure out Overdrill. As one of the joke answers people would give is “Have you tried answering the phone?”
I've been searching for the name of the song on that clip! I just can't find it anywhere
the colors on the brooklyn bank version makes me think they drew that connection as well, albeit after the fact

I always thought that the "Answer the phone" graffiti was a reference to the theories for solving the secret in PD:TH. One of the common theories was being able to answer the phone on counterfeit and in doing so we'd get some form of progress. I know that there is a nod to this in the original safehouse where when you first here from Bain he says "See, you didn't even need to answer the phone." So I thought that the graffiti was just another nod to the payday communities overthinking of small details that we do everyday.

With that heat reference with the speech, I was doing the heist with my friend and Duke did the speech and we just stopped for a second saying that was very much like what Duke would say with his professional attitude not knowing the reference.
The 'Heat' speech also occurs on San Martin Heist, I had Joy do it once while speeding through it on Overkill difficulty.
That last one, made me realize that some of my best shot could have been RNG magic bullets.

On the first part of border crossing, sometimes Locke mentions "if you spot a guitar case full of weapons, just leave it there." It could be self-reference to Golden Grin, or to the 1995 movie, Desperado.
That vangelico one, I remember seeing a clothing shop across the street from it in gta that closely resembles Garnet Groupe Botique in Reservoir Dogs Day 1

@@braindeadgaming808 In your defense, I actually hear about most games old and new even before release but some I don't exactly know what they're about. I only know of their existence so that does make sense. I always knew L4D existed when I was much younger and it was on the X360 but I didn't know anything about the actual game itself. I just kept seeing it in the bargain bin.

They say the speach outside of first world bank? I didn't knew that, Unless you had a chance to play with a guy who used Voice line table and could spam those. Some of them love to troll people by starting Capitan voice line, or something annoying as "JUmp" constantly.

First time I noticed how detailed products in stores were was grinding four stores back when it was good for that I'd end up face first in the shelves countless times waiting for civs and see all the things they put there

Sup K, here's (yet another) Heat reference: in the FWB Job, the music that plays, Gun Metal Grey, is basically a clone of the music that plays in the bank robbery scene, the same one where they give the iconic Heat speech. This similarity becomes even clearer if you listen to PDTH'S version of this song.
I had that phone number saved on my phone for a long time despite not knowing of hotline miami, interesting knowing that the same phone number I used to think was just a creepy joke is now linked to one of my most favorite games.
if/when you do another one of these, you should talk about how shotgun damage is calculated, as I imagine there's plenty of people who don't know how different this game is about it than most other games.
A fun returned reference between Payday and Hotline Miami is that all of The Fans in HM2 have masks in PD2. However, one of them was reversed. The Mark bear mask first appeared in Payday 2 (possibly as far back as launch) and when Hotline Miami 2 was released one of the playable fans is named Mark who wears a bear mask.
Don’t know if this also counts but I remember a post on the subreddit where the condom machine in the Nighclub Bathroom had 3 sizes named after snakes. Oddly enough, Jake in HM2 has 3 different snake masks, one named Dallas.
3:58 THIS ONE was patched but only if you play it again… it still works if you are in someone else’s Safehouse and they play it for the first time. I didn’t know and I rerolled my achievements…..
I just saw in this video that the sign “drop your pants here to receive prompt attention” was on the old hideout and it’s now in the new hideout
at 2:00, technically both are inspired by left for dead somewhat! the map GO bank is based off actually intentionally reuses the layout of the Burger Tank in the Heavy Rain finale - retextured, of course. Just a funny coincidence that two of my favourite co-op games are so connected - now if only they could somehow reference Deep Rock Galactic...
That would explain why at times on Cook out it felt like my Judge shotgun was a laser pointer when shooting at the snipers across the road from the house and other times it felt like I was shooting a perfect outline around them.

This may be a bit obvious, but you haven’t covered some of the weapon skin references, like how the AMR-16 has a skin replicating the graffiti of Vietnam war soldiers’ helmets, or how the throwback skin on the amcar is, well, a throwback to p:th, and I’m sure there’s more that i can’t remember
Fun fact: This video's duration is 11:38, the code for the vault gate in First World Bank.
Another odd thing of the past was if you crouched on the closed gate and shot it open while crouched on the gate you could fling yourself into the security room or the vault on harvests and trustee bank job.

I was expecting you to talk about how you can find the GO bank in the csgo map files, or atleast you can find it in the map files from csgo that are sent to G-Mod
I'm pretty sure that we got a huge hint about Payday 3 at the end of the Payday movie. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Vlad was talking about The Kataru.
Also Im not sure if you mention this, but gun metal grey, the song from PDTH and the PD2 remix are influenced by the background music that plays during the bank heist in Heat
GO Bank and No Mercy aren't *inspired by CS:GO and Left 4 Dead, they're literally from those games. The vault door in GO Bank is the same in CS:GO so if there's a reference made, it was by Valve itself.
Another secret/Easter egg is that on guards keycards connected to their pockets cay clone then a name, this might be another reference to guards and cops being cloned.

About the secret, I never looked at the achivments required just did the remaining 15 (excluding complete secret and nyctophobia) I had and 1 or more of the was needed in those
i would assume auto hit is why I can consistently hit snipers when i’m hip firing a minigun
A shame that I'll never be able to play as Jacket, or use the Sociopath perk deck. Due to the Hotline Miami 2 game not being available here in Australia, for a while, Overkill would give Aussies a key to unlock the unacquirable content. Sadly, Overkill recently mentioned that they would stop doing this, as to focus on other tasks.
I dunno if it's a bug but every glass reflection on go bank will show the main road in its reflection. Even the cars around the back of the bank will show the road on the other side of the bank.
in the new Dragan heists the laptop error has the os "Michaelsoft Binbows" a reference to the real life bootleg store of the same name

Here's another Secret: If you shoot the Big Gong in the first Warehouse of the Ukranian Prisoner Heist while in stealth, it will instantly trigger the alarm. The Mountain Master Heist also has the same Gong in the Penthouse, i haven't tried it yet but i wouldn't be suprised if it did the same thing.

Does anyone know about the bugged drug deal on Green Bridge? It's a 5% chance but its bugged currently.
So just a question, was the shotgun Taser covered? Because if not then there's that variation of the Taser that's unused but its weapon can be found in the game files, how I know this well let's just say a modder brought just about every single cop except for the Federalizes in PayDay 2 into Garry's Mod. Yes you heard that right the Cloaker can now officially chase after you outside of PayDay 2.

Another Valve reference is in Reservoir Dogs. When breaking open the protective door the player is instructed to set up to open an electrical box and start the countdown. The box facing the street with the interactable car when opened will show a White Mesa company logo in contrast to Black Mesa testing facility in their original Half-Life Series.
The speech might also be a little nod to point break the original one of course
