Five out of the first six pitchers I made in tasted awful. I kept trying because some of the health benefits were fast and impressive. I noticed some of the blossoms smell better than others. This time I took only what smelled pleasant and brewed it with a little fresh ginger. This last batch actually tastes good.
I have eaten the flowers. I read Goldenrod is good for preventing kidney stones. I also make a tea from the whole plant too,,every bit of fluid intake helps. I dont mind drinking cold tea either. depends on the weather/whether hot/cold👍🏼
I'd go on BONAP and look at their county maps under genus Solidago to see which species are in your county, there may be several, the bright green is "native and present" meaning not uncommon. There are many Solidago species, in other words there are many different Goldenrod species. Common names suck because people conflate different species that have different effects, it's important to learn the binomial names.
Is there an ideal time to pick the goldenrod flowers? There's a lot of wild Goldenrod in bloom in Northern VA right now and do you know if the shift from warm to cold weather impacts the medicinal properties and/or flavor?
Freezedrying it can preserve it the best. It's also good to make an oil infusion with it for a nice pain relief sav.

I have some growing in my flower gardens.
I will try it .. Thank You for sharing ..
I bet it would be good with honey, I tried it plain so I could really get the true flavor.

I will try it with honey.
That sounds so good.
I just noticed there are hundreds of these between our alley and the train tracks. Going to chop a bunch and make medicine and tea
Thank You 😎 God Bless 🕊️🙂

Cool! And nice purple morning glories!

Do I need to dry it out first or can I use fresh picked?

From my research, I decided to pick flowers with some of the blooms unopened.
