Dear Dr. Ruscio, I would like to see how a probiotic, like Akkermansia, fits into your protocol, as it is a probiotic that does not fit into the category of the three-pronged approach to probiotics that you recommend.
@@arifmia6678Fiber can sometimes make things worse if you have an overgrowth of bad bacteria or opportinistic bacteria. Also lots of fiber is a bad idea out the gate. You start slow and make sure its helping first. Also keep in mind you should google soluble and insoluble fiber. Make sure youre getting a moderate amount of both. And in the video above he talks about potentially going low fodmap and on multiple probiotics for a little while.
@@arifmia6678some people actually have this same issue, me included, when consuming any amount of fiber, and even worse with high fiber. I'd recommend looking into how removing fiber could benefit you and try it for a while to see if it helps. There's a lot of nuance in diet and fiber consumption so definitely do your own research on this and use logic and common sense before blindly trying anything. But at the same time, trying something like this shouldn't cause any issues in the short term, so if you are anxious to try something, start your own n=1 and see how you do.

Love that you mentioned pain and inflammation in this post. It got me thinking about how ineffectively her pain was managed on discovering she had IBD - UC - C. Her doctor injected her with a pain-killer that should have worked within 30 minutes, but did not prove to be very effective at lowering her perception of pain. She was put on something with codeine which another doctor, at the nearest hospital, said not to put her on. That happened less than 12 hrs after her injection in the middle of the night. She had warned us about not taking anything stronger than paracetamol but gave her capsules that I was unfamiliar with. She too had IBD as a young medical student so I trusted her too, and I was too anxious and shocked by the pain my daughter was bearing to ask questions or argue at that point. Also please explain what was happening in her colon when her pain was at its worst in July/August 2023 and when it was hardly detectable in Nov '23. I think I know or can work it out but a post from you on pain and inflammation in the gut would be beneficial for those suffering from gut pain to understand why they have so much pain, and the best long and short term pain management solutions available.
thank you doctor .i have sore throat plus inflammation ,burning sensation in my mouth especially night time . i used saccharomyces boulardi as open pill in my mouth and try to keep in my mouth long time before sleep. in a day inflammation goes away in three days sore throat goes away . thank you again.
I have found along side probiotics and diet micro doses of psilocybin really helps and motility due to the gut being lined with 5-HT2A receptors also being serotonin receptors . It seems that it can wake up the communication channels throughout the digestive system. This is just my experience though.
This is so helpful. Low fodmap has been very helpful but I'm still not where I want to be. I have tried just probiotics and also herbal antimicrobials with not much improvement. I'm probably going to try probiotics and prokinetics along with my lowfodmap diet
I am a NEW SUBSCRIBER. 😊 The tests & information was semi-informative. (More lack of knowledge on my part). I would like to hear more information about when to take Pro-Biotics. Maybe more information about Enzymes as well. Thank you!!!😊😃😁
Should you take antimicrobials (berberine, oregano oil, allicin) during the same protocol as probiotics? I dont mean taking them together but taking them at different times during the day. Do you see a meaningful requirement to do this? I have just started this new protocol along with "histamine friendly" probiotcs , l glutamine, and Igg2000 Thanks from Australia
My daughter is still in remission, still on a AFR multivitamin (Betavit), fish oil Omega 3 supplement for her autism - managing sensitivities fantastically, iron - for when she gets her periods, and I put her on a weekly Prosit capsule, which is a natural detoxifyer and antioxidant. I use it to maintain the health of her colon, and hopefully, keep her in remission. This month she started to normalise her sleeping pattern - asleep at night and awake during the day. Not sure what made that sudden change in her circadian rhythm. It might be something in the Prosit. Took her off the Lacto-biff blend probiotic between late Nov, early Dec. No sign of celiac disease as she freely eats gluten based foods again - bread, pancakes, cupcakes, and the dreaded 2-minute noodles my mom buys for her when I'm not around to watch what she is eating. 😂 She still has acne and I'm sure that it is a symptom that is linked to dysbiosis or something unhealthy happening in the gut, maybe linked to gluten. I'm going to go back to experimenting with using something other than lacto-biff probiotics and I'm thinking Yeast Saccharomyces
That could merely be an idiosyncratic reaction that you have to a particular type. Look at our meta protocol and then consider trying one type of probiotic at a time to pinpoint where that reaction comes from. Likely won't occur from all probiotics

Hey doctor, what happens it you have brain fog only or psychiatric issues from leaky gut but you cant tell if the treatment is working with out blood markers ? Cause subjective feelings are alot harder to gauge then say pain or physical symtoms like diarrhoea
I want to be careful not to overly generalize, But that being said when a gut therapy is successful if there are corresponding neurological symptoms those will improve also. It's not an absolute rule tho
