@@coreyth13and the blasphemous blades special skill absolutely wrecks his second phase from a distance. I barely got hit and destroyed him second try. Some of these bosses doing like a standard melee build is dangerous getting too close.

There is a guy colled Feebel King and he made a video called somethibg like "In defence of Elden Ring bosses". Skip to the part where he taöks about Maliketh and how he beat him, it helped me immensely and gives you an actual approach to the fight
I always get him to phase two and then I get killed before doing any real damage to him

I almost beat Maliketh on my first try and then I got smashed right as I was about 2 hits away from winning. I’ve never gotten that close again. Yes this fight is no joke.
Fucking same but second try, he had little to no health and he killed me and then my mimic tear killed him I was so pissed. Now he’s beating my ass every time. I can’t even enter the arena without him charging me down.
@@Direwolf9818 I eventually did beat him but then I forgot to quit out of my game before turning my Xbox off and I lost that progress. So I had to fight him, Mohg, and Rykard all over again the next time I turned on my game. I ended up being so pissed that I steamrolled through Rykard (who’s easy by the way if you have a mimic tear) and Maliketh on my first try. I then beat Mohg I think on my third or fifth try. But yeah I was heated.
I am always dying like that - one or two hits away from his death but always I die before him ! Because when he is really near to death I get into panic for unknown reason , making stupid mistakes - just panicking :)

Alright folks. I finally beat him and one trick that made it possible was when he does the attack where he jumps up and plunges his sword in the ground resulting in a delayed explosion, if you get too far from him before he creates the explosion he will jump in the air and try the anime attack on you instead, if you see him jump up, turn around and try to get behind him. It leaves him open to at least 2 attacks.

So I’m still fighting him. It might be helpful for others to know that his first phase is mostly physical dam. You can block %100 his blade attacks. Don’t worry about saving your flasks because the second boss basically one shots you if you get hit anyways. Hope it helps.

@Mattress Store skill comes in many different forms in souls games. You could be a master at dodging and fighting to where you can beat the game in underwear and with a stick, or you could be an expert in builds, stats, items, enemy weaknesses. In this case you know how to build a character that can most effectively destroy the game. Both are equally valid and that’s why souls games are so great.

those pillars actually don't always protect you. He was at 1% health and I stood behind one and got killed by the anime attack

yes this is happening often to me at the end of the battle with this one when he has very few of life. Staying behind pillar, preparing myself for final hit and PAP I am dead, never knowing why.

Surprised you didn't mention this attack. If you get hit by the sweep, it true comboes into the horizontal helicopter spin and will 1-shot you at 60 vigor. It easily 1-shot me at 57 vigor with absorbances in the 30s.
I would have beaten him 3 days ago without this attack
This guy is soooooo much more aggressive in his second phase when I fight him
My least favorite part of this fight isn’t his bullshit health drain or massive combos. It’s the fact that he moves too fucking fast, he’s so hard to actually hit with melee. He does a hop and a flip and he’s on the other side of the arena. You run up to him to try to get some damage just for him to jump to the other side once you finally get close enough. It drags the fight on way too long imo.
Beat him, but I feel like I might have had a better time using my katanas. I insisted on using dual curved greatswords (as I have for 90% of the game so far) but it was hell trying to actually get a hit and not get completely fucked. Had to pull out the Mimic for the last 30% of his health because I was tired of dying lol.
Ngl, I'm getting a bit irritated by how OTT some of these engame bosses are. Kinda sick of lightning-quick enemies with anime slash-storms, instafuck AoE's and think-fast stabs/projectiles. Feels like I'm playing Dark Souls while the bosses are playing Sekiro.
It’s great to not use the summons but maybe the designer is using it as mechanic to make up for the sekiro Esque bosses
died around 150 times on maliketh with curved greatswords until i just switched to katanas
Agreed, the difficulty of some bosses is over the top in elden ring, the Souls trilogy bosses were more well balanced.....
1st phase is projectiles and retreating attacks. 2nd phase is all aggro, all the time. If you get hit by the anime multi-slash, you lose max hp and also get hit with the burn damage
every boss in and leading up to the crumbling farum azula are always the worst and most unfun thing to fight
yeah this game is awesome up until the mountaintops of the giants. it goes from 10/10 to 6/10 real fast. Not awful, but these bosses (malenia, maliketh, fire giant) are just so annoying to fight (i guess less so for the fire giant, pretty easy once you know the strat)

Sure Godfrey and Radagon are good fights, but even fights like malenia and maliketh are more “cool” than fun. Its basically watch the boss do cool shit for 10 seconds, and get 1-2 hits in. Not exactly fun. Although yes Godfrey and Radagon are good fights, but i prefer Morgott Radahn and Rykard. Not a single main boss i dislike before the mountaintops

Maybe it's because I'm in my mid 30s but I just it feels physically impossible to react to this guy's attacks fast enough to dodge them.
Try using a shield and blocking in the first phase it helped me a little
26 here and I've always struggled with mechanical skill in videogames, and I know it's only downhill from here. Reaction times and precision have always been my weak points but I've always managed to get around the issue by playing smart.
I've struggled through every souls game but I always found ways to depend less on mechanical perfection. Fromsoftware seems to lean more and more into this dimension of the game with every release.
I've felt that way ever since Bloodborne came out. Throughout my 200 hours with Elden Ring I've felt the game was off limits for me and that even though I learn bosses patterns and windup animations I simply can't process them and react fast enough.
Even when I win I feel like I jost got lucky. Malekith might be the game breaker for me.

Also there's a nasty hidden mechanic in this fight. If none of you have noticed, everytime he hits you, he has a Dark Souls 3 Jailer stare effect. Your actual maximum health will be decreased temporarily, and even more with each time you take a hit, also on top of a rapid health drain everytime he hits you. Yeah he's a definite callback to Sif/Artorias in my opinion but just really take care to not get hit because maximum health decrease, massive damage, AND rapid health drain all in one hit can make the fight very difficult and end it prematurely lol
Oh ok. I was wondering why I always respawned without 100% hp but about 80% lol
Plus all his attacks sunblock like a motherfucker, if you get hit by one of those projectiles its safe to assume you're getting hit by the rest of the ones he shoots, along with the follow-up

I hate this boss. Story time: I got Elden ring about 1 week ago, I have around 25 hours playtime and reached this boss. In one sitting I beat gold Godfrey, Fire Giant, and godskin duo. I reached here and threw a few attempts and realized I didn’t do enough damage with the ice rind hatchet+10. So went and got moonveil to +9 and uchigatana+24 and used that build. Threw 8 attempts in a row where I died in less than 30 seconds and got so mad I cried a little. 😳. As of right now I sit, unable to beat this boss, I will update this comment once I beat it. Wish me luck.

Yea the boss is only cool as a gimmick they dont care about gameplay you cant even learn the second phase because he kills you so fast and all of his attacks look the same. And you dont even know when to dodge because sometimes he swings his sword and it doesnt hit you but then he swings it slightly different and that hits you. Its a gimmick.

Been working on him the last few days. Still can’t get it down perfect but if you beat rykard you have the opportunity to get the blasphemous claw which allows you to parry after that anime attack. You have to get the timing down perfect but it provides a HUGE advantage to get some damage in.
I don't get this boss. I've watched every video out there. When I fight him he's fucking random as hell non stop agreesvie kills my mimic tear which is maxed out in 2 hits and then proceeded to hit me twice. It's ruining the game.

just beat him on my second try, i used a golden arc, wonderous, bleed build, and +10 mimic tear as soon as the fight starts. BE PATIENT. make distance , attack from behind! wait until your mimic has his attention and do big chunks of damage from behind. best advice i can give is don’t panic roll, time your rolls, keep your distance as much as possible

Lore question here (and spoilers if you are among the few who haven't played/beaten it yet!). The reason Tarnished even exist is because the rune of death was contained within Maliketh, right? Like, the reason you don't truly die is because there is no true death while the rune is sealed/contained. It's this reason that the Erd Tree starts to die after you defeat Maliketh. So my question is, why is the player character still resurrected when defeated after the death rune has been released? And why do enemies still respawn after resting at a site of grace?
Obviously, I know this would majorly suck for the player if permadeath started after Maliketh, and it would suck if enemies didn't come back for farming purposes. But lore wise it would make sense no?
Fire does great damage to him. Black Flame specifically helped a bunch with beating this dude on my first playthrough, though I'm sure other flame spells perform just as well if not better.

Thanks for the tips, I beat him twice tonight because i died after beating him on my first win lmfao. i survived the anime attack but didn't have enough time to heal, i was frames off, glass to my mouth and everything lol. at least i beat him a second time next attempt

Right now I’m just trying to Draw Agro while my black knife tiche hits him with the black flame damage, but so far it’s just trying to keep the black knife alive.
Summon mimic tear +8 in second phase, first one you have to git gud though
He moves crazy fast, he reminds me of sister friedes third phase, just so bloody aggressive and relentless plus the damage over time from that holy attack is crazy.....

@@charless.m if I remember corectly there is giant cilynder in the middle of boss arena, if you stuck him behiend it for few seconds you should have enough time, maybe when he starts going all anime on you you just have to hide behiend it and summon
do not stay close to the entrance when you enter the tree sentinel can hit you and make you waste flasks

It would make sense to not stagger him in phase 1. Phase 2 is where you really need it. Don't do too much damage at once and just chip away slowly. Then when phase 2 happens, unleash FP attacks, lots of hits in a row if possible, jump attacks, etc.. Its gonna be a little bit easier
How are you dealing so much damage? I've got a maxed out ultra greatsword and str at 40 and I'm dealing half that per hit, as well as being too slow for the attack windows
Moonveil was ridiculously busted back in the early days of the game. My nonexistent 9 year old retarded cousin could beat the game with it. Now it’s pretty mid though
This fight was extremely tough. The first attempt we traded but it didn’t count it as a win. Eventually I was able to clutch out and keeping close to him really help. Also make sure to time the dodges when he shoots destined death in the air.

Have you tried to not get hit?
When Maliketh does the mid air crescent swings and his blade illuminates before doing the broad swing create distance while doing this and he will land practically next to you in a frozen animation. I’ve gotten him so much on this.

In the second phase with the sword of night and flame +10 you can easly kill him in 3 shots with the magic blast, but he is very fast and aggressive that's the problem.

also you have to have the specific build, mine is +10 and when i finally do get a hit off it does no damage
@@Auryxx_x I had 60 of intelligence, yeah I had a magic build. Also try to use the mimic to distract him if you have it
I was playing as a mage type build and was really struggling, I ended up using rock sling and the stonebarb cracked tear for phase two. 2-3 rock throws is enough to stagger him allowing for a follow up stab. Did that twice and he went down kinda smoothly.

I was standing behind a pillar healing up when my mimic took him head on. Mimic was distracting long enough for me to land strong critical hits, he died giving me the chance to knock Malaketh out and deliver the hits needed to land a fatal blow just before he was winding up to kill me.

Man, this guy was just absolutely brutal. He moved so fast that I couldn't understand his flurry move's cue, so thanks for pointing out it's the preemptive 360.
If anyone is in the comments looking for advice, the thing that helped me the most is not panicking. Running away from him after getting hit almost every single time resulted in an insta-kill. I think FromSoft wants you to match his aggression and not be afraid to heal up while just inches away from him
Beat him after about 15 attempts without summons but wow was he tough. His moveset is so fast and diverse that it gets difficult to track him at certain points and when you realize where he is its too late since he one shots you with many attacks and the destined death effect. Your guide was really helpful for this awesome fight! What helped me in the fight was repeatedly baiting out his sword jump attack to get guaranteed damage after he lands, but being patient and not greedy is the most important factor to successfully kill him. Hope this helps :)
Funny how when I have fought for 2 days he does the same move like he's gonna do the backflip but then changes it and aim bots you with that big attack. And I have never dodged it.
Got to him last night. Phase 1 is fairly simple. Phase 2 he becomes much more wild. I fought him twice and he wrecked me but I did a little better the second time. I'll try again later tonight.

I found tree sentinel more frustrating but I killed him quicker weirdly. I'm using a claymore and shield with medium roll and it took me so long to learn first phase for beast clergyman.
“Attack him while he’s in an animaton” my ass, any time he’s in an animation he’s doing something that whoops my ass. Have 95 poise, medium load, one of the best armor sets in the game and 50 vigor + a +3 crimson amber medallion? No you don’t, silly. He’ll just flinch you for long enough to fuck you up before you’ve had a chance to even roll. Wanna roll through his bestial claw move? No you don’t, it has a trail behind it that just so happens to catch your roll if you don’t wait till the exact frame it reaches your ballhairs and then roll forward. Wanna attack him while he’s doing a slow attack? No, you can’t. He won’t do it unless he’s fifty feet from you or you’re already stance-broken. Wanna have a fair fight? “Nuh uh” said the draconic tree sentinel outside the door that for some reason can do an aoe attack that knocks you over through the mist. Wanna use a spell or incantation? Have fun getting it off before he decides to trek the arena and give you the beating of ‘87. Wanna use the weapons you already have maxed out? Too bad so sad, max moonveil or delete the game. In short, give me three days and I’ll be preaching about how great of a boss he was.

It wouldn't be so bad if rolling worked and wasn't so rng, plus input lag, the room for error is too small. The camera angles in this fight are awful.
So ive been losing to this dude damn near a month dying within the first few hits, but as soon as i changed my strategy from running away from him to running towards him and delaying my rolls i beat him the first time and it was easy.
Between this guy and Niall, I obviously don't have whatever skill or patience it takes to finish the game.
I don't know what kinda steroids I was on in my first playthrough, but I swear it only took me like 2-3 tries to beat him. Now on my NG+ and it feels damn near impossible when that second phase kicks in
I did online summons for this one. It still took about 20 tries, all of my helpers kept dying on second phase 😅 and leaving me alone, if I was not the fool dying first. I finally did it after some 25 tries aprox.
i think the main things to remember in his second phase is that he slashes 3 times while in the air, when he jumps onto his sword it explodes, and when he does the barrage of slashes “anime move” to stay behind him
*This MF did a triple axel flip* knocked my health down and had me bleeding out for the rest of the fight while he’s doing cartwheels 🤸♀️ around the arena - what is this boss?
I go behind a pillar and this man either hits me through it and kills me or he jumps in the air does 3 backflips and somehow is behind me and I’m dead
these bosses are designed in game to attract to you like a magnet, there attacks are hitting you because the devs want them too. you cant just hide you have to run and dodge. summon mimic tear, its easy to get and easy to upgrade
Phase 2 requires a real cool head and rolling towards him and sticking close to him as u say...I still haven't killed him yet but I'm getting better at him. The first phase is real easy once u learn his move set.....
yeah in the first phase he has like 3 total attacks but then you get to phase 2 and then i usually just get fkn blended by everything
i'm doing a glasscannon 2-handed Greatsword (the Greatsword) strength build for my first elden ring run (i'm a souls veteran). Pretty much most of his attacks 1-shot me. Phase 1 is not too bad due to the pillars and honestly, he gives a lot of opportunities to hit, just gotta be on top of the dodges. Phase 2 is a lot harder and i'm still working on it right now.

Everything he does is an attack. He so much as breathes and he does damage to me. No way the game devs thought this one through same with fire giant.

Honestly out of all the major bosses so far. (Just beat him) He took the longest. Took me a couple hours combined across a few days of leaving and coming back lmao. Jump attacks with dual katanas really helped with damage all you gotta do is punish his slower attacks.
I JUST BEAT HIM… and here are some tips. Avoid some heavy attacks. They take too long to recover from and usually you get hit as a result. Light attacks are king. And be aggressive. The more aggressive and close to him you are, the less attacks he will hit. GOOD LUCK
I get frustrated because it feels like once he gets down to a certain point in his health bar he gets like 3 times faster, I can get him down to quarter health pretty easily but once hit that point he just gets supercharged

This fight is how Elden Ring made it very clear that I was not allowed to play it.
I just beat Elden Ring for the first time, this boss was the hardest for me no joke.
I beat him easy with summons, and here I am getting absolutely destroyed without summons 👍
The first time I tried, I got him down to 1 hit because I was insanely lucky, then I never got him again.
USE 10+ BLOODHOUNDS SWORD AND USE THE ASH OF WAR OVER AND OVER AND LET YOYR MIMIC TEAR TANK( you can also use flame grant me strength and blood flame blade spells to make it easier)
How long did it take for you to actually beat him? I havent had a single bit of trouble with any of the bosses but this one is pissing me off simply because he flies around the screen and I sometimes cannot find him.

Fighting maliketh makes me regret putting everything into radahns greatswords
Getting him to phase two is easy but when he hits phase two I'm struggling to keep up with his movements and end up falling out the arena most times. He isn't particularly hard but his movements are just all over.
I know people think this fight is too hard (which it is) but once again melina also is in this game.
These guides would be better if you're not using a ranged attack like Moonveil. Most people wont have that tool. Just my two cents in helping to create guides that will help most new players.

I tried moonveil and noticed you can’t use the special attack all the time, I’ve tried point blank and it won’t damage him. Such a horrible bug
Idk about others but I feel phase 2 is easier to land hits. The first phase is really wonky and getting close he can punish with a 2 slice attack whilst backing away.
Tip for the 2nd phase when you spawn in head to the back left of the arena where the broken pillars are his attacks are far more predictable and he stays on the ground alot more due to him not having any pillars to jump on this allows you to get in more hits than ever still gonna take alot of attempts just keep trying.

Basicly a DMC / Bayonetta Boss. If i had a parry like in Sekiro or the Riposte from Bloodborne it would be a cool fight but i really think he is too over the top.

6 hours trying, still couldn't beat him
When this game released. This boss was SOUL CRUSHING to me. After roughly 30 attempts probably more honestly. I just put the game down for a week. Asked my friend to help, he cheesed him.. and then we moved on.
But now I've decided to pick it back up, and I want payback on this piece of crap.
Been playing souls since 2011. Maliketh makes no sense. It’s like he rewards you for doing the most counter intuitive behaviors and you will kill him doing them if the camera doesn’t kill you first.
This fight makes me feel like an anime side character, this dude moving so fast i cant even fucking respond
I beat him in like 10 tries and someone told me the reason he was doing more damage is because I had Radagon sorseal on ( I forgot it increased damage) and he said my vigor should be at 60+ (it’s at 40 something )

Try bloodhounds claws bloodhounds step does help dodging those attacks , mine isn’t doing enough damage though , and ROTTEN BREATH hits!

"Just don't get hit bro". I can get through phase 1 easily, but in phase 2 I can't even touch him. Maliketh was doing a no-damage challenge against me.
IDK if you beat him yet but something crucial that helped me beat him is dodge forward and stay close to him. If you keep doing that you'll find his opening and be able to stagger him and punish him
@@mightguy3118 It took me two days but eventually I did finally beat him, thanks. Yeah like you said I learned to roll towards him and keep close to him.
