This movie was flat out terrible but my biggest annoyance is that the beginning of the film is just dark and panning over water and not even showing off the city. Yeah, the CGI and design is bad but at least show it off (or maybe that’s why they didn’t…)
I really don't get the massive hate for this movie. It's honestly not any cheesier than most Marvel movies today and it's made with a lot more passion and heart.
Well, that’s just not correct at all. The hate for this film is understandable: terrible and nonsensical plot, terrible acting, terrible CGI, poor design, bad cinematography and direction, the list goes on. It’s an insult to DnD fans.
Tim Redbeard the plot is pretty simplistic, but never thought of it as “nonsensical.” Acting was hammy, but the performers had fun and infectious chemistry and I think Marlon Wayans and Bruce Payne were genuinely great. I don’t know how you can hate the visuals, the art direction for the races, classes, monsters, weapons and armor, that’s all straight out of a 3rd edition book. I find the CGI charming and I think it had a lot more personality than anything in the MCU movies. Cinematography is an odd complaint, I can remember several really outstanding shots here, like when Snails gets cornered at a dead end and we get a wide shot of the castle and can really feel how hopeless he is. As a D&D fan, I thought it was really good. Excited for the new movie though!
I loved this movie so much back in the day
Those costume drawings are superior to the actual costumes. :)
"Oh, it's beautiful"
I will never understand how they could get rights do to D&D movie like this one, it is like Z movie :D
