I think she pronounces Tanya with a short “a” … I haven’t listened to any of her music in a while but super excited for this one! I love her and Brandi Carlisle both ❤️
ETA: oh my heart 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️ that has me in tears. Amazing!

You need to go and listen to Delta Dawn along with some of her really early songs. They are classics and to be performed by a female at her young age was unreal.

tucker's talent was almost overshadowed by her notoriety for "free-spirited, hard living". so cool to see her get the recognition she deserves. you might wanna spend some time with country. the *best* lyrics (imo) come from that genre.

I met Tanya years ago when she came into the restaurant where I worked. Very kind and gracious. That was Brandi on the piano. She's amazing, herself. You should listen to her some as well...."The Joke" and "The Story" are two great ones.

SalvoG your reactions are always heartfelt. You have actually reacted to Brandi Carlile's song The Joke. Tanya was Brandi's idol when she was growing up, and she contacted her and asked why she wasn't singing anymore. Tanya said that after her family had all passed on, she didn't feel like there was anything of importance to sing about, that she couldn't sing about love. Brandi told her she had to come back, and Brandi and her band, the Twins, wrote most of the songs on the entire album that won the two Emmys. Brandi accepted the awards with Tanya, and told this story. And she said, Tanya knows tonight that she is loved and there's a whole lot more to sing about.

Tanya is the bomb. Always deserved more credit, in my opinion. Always been badass. Loved her cameo in Gretchen Wilson’s song “ Redneck Woman”… that would be a fun song to do sometime.

Tanya Tucker is a legendary country music singer & songwriter. Her first hit was "Delta Dawn" in 1972 when she was only 13. She had a lot of hits as an adult especially in the 70's-80's such as "What's Your Mama's Name?", "Blood Red & Goin' Down", "Lizzie & The Rainman", "Strong Enough To Bend", "San Antonio Stroll", "Here's Some Love", "It's A Cowboy Lovin' Night" etc. She also recorded a few singles with Glen Campbell, with whom she was romantically linked for awhile.

Tanya Tucker had effectively given up on making music. Brandi Carlisle pushed her to make a comeback. Tanya started writing this song about 40 years ago, Brandi helped her finish it and in 2020 she won her first two Grammys in her 60s

I grew up with Michael Jackson, Tanya Tucker and Donnie Osmond. She has always been my favorite singer; even when she was the bane of country music during her wild years with Glen Campbell. I am probably one of the few people who bought her rock album and loved everything about it. When she covered a song, she stamped it with her soul. I can't even tell all the songs I thought were fabulous; but please check out: Would You Lay With Me, What's Your Mama's Name, San Antonio Stroll, Blood Red and Goin' Down, Lizzie and the Rain Man (cover), Two Sparrows in a Hurricane, Brown-eyed Handsome Man (cover), Texas( When I Die), Angel From Montgomery (cover).

She did a couple rock albums back in the day and you'd definitely like some of those songs. Her first one got a grammy nomination for "Best Rock Vocal Performance-Female". Such a great rock voice!

Her early 90's hit "If Your Heart Ain't Busy Tonight" kicks ass, uptempo and has a really retro feel to it. And the play on words in the lyrics are great.

I had such a crush on this lady since I was 10. She was a few years older than me and singing some songs quite mature for her young age. "Would you lay with me" is just one of them. She was only in her mid teens singing this jewel of a song. Everyone was up in arms about that. I was just impressed to the top of my ability. She has some true masterpieces and I am so glad to see her touring and putting these beautiful and moving halls. Shooter Jennings, Waylon Jennings son was able to hold her to the promise she had made when His father passed. If He should need anything, give Her a call.
You will find a long string of jewels with Her special touch on them. I fell in love with " as a "Delta Dawn " as a pre-teen. Also ,"Would you lay with me in a field of stone?" Mature theme for a early teen girl to take on. Written by a nother controversial artist,David Allen Coe. You will not be let down reacting to Her songs ,she's remarkable. ❤

This song hit me hard. Partly because i worked one of her shows a few years before it came out, and saw that she's not in great health. She moved around backstage in a wheelchair, so it's poignant for that reason. Moreso because the first time I heard it was shortly before my mom died, when her dementia had reached the point where she didn't know anyone. So I heard this song and knew it was too late to bring the flowers, even if she weren't halfway across the country.
