My wife and I lived in the Algarve for more than 30 years, I've been watching you guys for a couple of years now, and just had to visit central Portugal, Tomar was our first interest, however we moved close to Ferreira do Zezere, last year. This video is a perfect reflection of this beautiful place....
I think if we’d not found our wonderful farmhouse we would have ended up somewhere close to Tomar. We love quick overnight trips there, and the views near FdZ are amazing
Last summer, me and my family, we took a week to travel the all N2 North to South, and one of the those days we stopped at Vila de Rei for lunch and we did it at that very same restaurant named "COBRA" we became fans, excellent service with excellent food. Enjoy
made me reflect, that draw to move to a rural, quiet place was to Ireland in the 70s,80s. Cottages and smallholdings were affordable, life was uncomplicated and quiet. What happened since? Hardly anybody can afford to buy a house, people everywhere, cost of living crisis is as bad as mainland Europe. So glad that I can shut out the hustle and bustle of modern Irish life and my little cottage serves me well. I still get ideas from your projects, especially gardening. Lets hope that Portugal doesn't go the Irish way, but I suspect the larger towns have already
I imagine there’s some of that happening across Portugal, but here there is a lot of available rundown / affordable property, and not too many people wanting to take on the work required to bring them back to a liveable state. As that changes, or the population increases, the prices and availability will change
These series of videos where you go explore the country are just so lovely. Thanks for doing them and sharing. I am from Portugal and we try to go back every year. It is what fulfills my being and helps me get through another year in Canada. Retirement is looming and we will be spending more time there. You’re calling me to what I still consider home. Thank you for all you do.
Great vid! Traditional Portuguese meals always include soup, most often vegetable. In my parents day, hearty soups were the meal, and fish and homemade cheese or sausage the main sources of protein. I still have soup daily. It’s overlooked as ‘peasant food’ but I guarantee that once you start incorporating Portuguese soups into your diet you will feel healthier.
I made the move to Panama 5 years ago and have NO regrets!! The pace of life is so much better here, and I built a natural home from scratch using similar methods as you have like lime plaster. It is a rewarding way of life 🍃
We are almost neighbours in Portuguese terms. Near Pedrogao Grande, also in a small village. All of the reasons you moved here resonate with us. We feel so lucky to be here as you probably do. We are only just over 6 months into our adventures. Thanks for your videos.
Same here. Also living in a small village near Pedrógão Grande. We have been here for 2 1/2 years now. Every time I drive through the mountains I realize how lucky I am that we came to live here.
I live in a small town in the USA. No Vinyards here...so I buy my wine (which is a 30 minute drive because my county is dry...no liquor except restaurants). My wine is in a box...with a tap. You are in paradise. Very beautiful! Thank you for taking your time and sharing with us. 🇺🇸
You must come to visit Portugal!! I think you will love the weather, the places, the food, the wine.. we have hundreds of types and made of many many casts... 😁🍷🍷And personally the people! Come to visit us, you will not be sorrow!! 🙏❤️
If you both aren't being paid by Tourism Portugal, you should be. Your relaxed and simple stroll, sip, and eat video has made me want to book a trip just to see that magnificent scenery around that huge lake. wow!
I really miss your beautiful vlogs, watching your relationship and have often wondered about life beyond your gorgeous home. I have loved every minute of your renovation. But this video has been amazing thank you to both of you xxxx from Australia 🇦🇺
Beautiful area. Forty years ago my husband and I did the N2 all the way to Faro on a motorcycle. Best honeymoon. Stunning views all the way. It always amazes me that such a small country has so much diversity in scenery, food, customs. We now live one hour north of Lisbon in a small village 25:47 and are loving it. Always look forward to Saturday mornings to see what you two have been up to. ❤❤
I can totally comprehend how that both of you enjoy this country’s tranquility and spectacular scenery after living and working in big cities .. Excellent video !! Durban SA 🇿🇦
🚙Even though I have been travelling and 'living' all over Portugal for nearly two years I really enjoy this kind of video. 😍 I just can't get enough of the country. 😬 Sometimes the lack of people is really eerie... I feel like there's been an apocalypse and I'm the only survivor!!! 👀The view points everywhere are one of my FAVOURITE things. Sometimes they are on the map and sometimes they are a delightful surprise. T H A N K S for sharing...the drone shots were stunning :)
Wow, beautiful video. I follow you from the beginning. I adopt your plantations, and the reconstruction of the house👏. Thank you for taking me with you on this wonderful tour. The view of the lake from the viewpoint is delicious and incredible 🥰. The city is very quiet 😊. Here in Brazil we also eat everything with rice 😊, vegetables, greens, tubers, grains and meats. Our agriculture is very varied and complete. My son lives there, in Porto, in the north, you need to know it, it's a fascinating city, by day and wonderful by night, you have to spend 2 days there 😉😊. It's very busy, it has restaurants from all over the world, Arabic, Japanese, Mexican, Vietnamese, vegetarian on every corner 😄. I wish you all the best. Hugs from Brazil 🇧🇷 🥰 Thank you.❤😊
I commented a couple of months ago how your videos make me feel homesick. You have a very very good approach. Ok, just to clear it up, the main difference is: maranho, cooked inside a goat's stomach lining while bucho is cooked inside pig's stomach lining. For the lack of a better option, go to Talho Simões in Sertã or Oleiros and buy already cooked, vacuum preserved maranho. Imagine it as a luxury preserved food :) As I grew older I realized how "wealthy" I was for having 100% home made maranho every holiday. Last tip, maranho is also delicious if you cut some slices of it, as you would with a ham, about 1 cm thick, and just re-heat it with a bit of olive oil on a sauté which is, just to close the circle, the french word for sertã.
I've never been to Portugal, but is so funny how familiar all this is to me, being Brazilian myself. In the Northeast of Brazil we have a dish called Buchada, that came from the Maranho and Bucho. Great video! Very nice to see you guys enjoying Portugal.
OMG you two did good choosing the area you did to live. Astonishingly beautiful, all of it - scenery, villages/towns, food, people. I haven't oo'ed and aah'ed my way through a video like this in a very long time. What a heavenly place on Earth.
Thanks for sharing! We’re loving Central Portugal too, so much heritage and an astounding amount of lovely places. And as you say…the VIEWS! So amazing to see and admire. 💕
Not sure about the tripe(memories of my childhood) but would have loved the veal. Looked delicious. Loved the tour. The towns and parks look clean and well tended, and no multiples of rubbish bins lining the sidewalks. Awesome.
Its so beautiful there! Living in a big city for ten years I can totally understand why you moved there. Still I hope that southern Europe will quickly adapt strategies to cope with water scarcity. Climate change is really taking off in Portugal and Spain and water will be the most important resource from now on. Droughts and bushfires wont be anomalies so the area will most likely change. Its really good to see you guys being aware of this and taking it into account when planning your house renovation and gardening projects. Edit: Oh my god the vineyard is such an amazing place. Even though it was in a totally different country it brought up many good memories to my grandpa who was a winemaker and me helping out at the harvest. I just love vineyards and this has to be one of the most beautiful. Vegan options in such a place and pastel de nata ice cream? This sounds like heaven to me 😀
Hello, how about you? Do not believe in climate change, that is a strategy of the globalist elites in conjunction with the satanic governments of the European Union and other governments such as the USA, Australia, Canada, among others, in order to control humanity, they tried it with the covid Now they are focusing on climate change, for example the Spanish government is destroying many water dams that has a plan to cause drought and deprive farmers of water in Portugal there are large fires that are provoked by the Portuguese government behind it, to go on destroying the areas of the interior of the country, in addition the DARRP makes climatic changes causes droughts or floods with its climate control, investigate more do not be a sheep more than the lot
My last real vacation, pre-pandemic, was to Portugal and this has me pining to go back. We did make sure one of our stops was in a small town in the interior, but clearly missed out on lots.
We really enjoyed this episode Kylie and Guy! Thank you for providing a little tour of your paradise. We'll be over in our own later this summer in the Tomar/Ferreira do Zêzere area. The nature around Castelo de Bode is a such major draw for us. Peace of mind.
I would have made the same choice to live so peaceful ,and can't have too much wine. Again excellent choice and it's not because I'm Portuguese. Love the videos. Thank you for letting us into your love of the country.
Every time we go to Oleiros in business, we stop in Sertã’s best restaurant (Ponte Velha) and treat ourselves proper. The traditional fish soup is to die for 🤤
I had a delicious " ensopado de borrego" last week in Abrantes, not far from you. Usually we prefer the seashore but the interior is so quiet and green. Good choice 👌
Wowed by this! What a perspective to see the stunning environment where you live. Brings new meaning to your choice of relocation. And you both looked so relaxed and natural in this setting. I think you picked the jewel of Portugal for sure. Once again fabulous travel and tour videos. 👏
You live at a very, very amazing place and thank you so much for showing us so many beautiful places. Good idea to take a brake once in a while and visit good friends as well. All the best to you both.
You are both certainly living the dream. What a beautiful and calming place you live in. How clean it all is and looks incredible with the sun shining on it all. Well earned meal that. Thanks for sharing your beautuful local scenic views xx
WOW! you guys this is beautiful I never seen this in Portugal and I was leaving there close to Viseu, Mangualde my Country is peaceful thank you God.Thank you so much 💗☮️
Just stayed 3 days at Bonjardim with our camper van. It's just paradise so pretty. We ate at the same table 😅 so funny to see in your videos. I'm following you since quite some time, watched all your videos. I think we will start looking for a house in Central Portugal too 😅
After seeing this short cameo of life near Serta, you having to explain why you live there is as unnecessary, as explaining why we need to breathe. What a beautiful area you live in, enjoy.
Looks like a Shandy! Were there a few fruit overtones? Sounds great! Summer party legs on. I really have to try the ice cream! WOW! What a great video!
That was a great insight into what else that is in Portugal, everything looked like i should be there. Although actually i will be in a country near you soon, time to leave Oz.
Thanks for the tour. The reflections of trees, buildings in the water was magic. Yum. The tripe and veal👏👏. The quietness is so soothing and precious. Gorgeous food and people. Enjoy🎉❤
omg I love all of it. I've lived in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) for 6 years, right above Portugal and I'm longing for the day to return to something similar. Saving up as much as I can to return one day. I'm mesmorised by the stone buildings and the layback culture and peace and tranquility you also have there. Loved the sightseeing in this vid, just beautiful. Keep em coming.
In the USA, there is a brand of sleeping mattresses named 'Serta Sleepers' - I wonder if the marketing team discovered the restful qualities of your 'SERTA'' and adopted its name to represent its product. Just wondering aloud...
Excellent portrayal of Central Portugal and relaxing dialog as well. When y'all were up on the overlook of the lakes below, I could actually smell the pines all the way over here in Central USA, lol. Thank you for this side trip from your home site to the environs.
Damn you! I am more enchanted by this country with every passing day. I understand there are challenges, but what a mix of old and new. Trying to convince my wife an extended holiday (one month) might be in order. I am fascinated with the Castelo Branco/Fundao/Penamacor/Monsanto area but you guys keep tempting me with the central areas. Thank you so much and enjoy your small down time!
Hello, I just found your channel. I would like to say thank you for sharing. Your honesty and resiliency are qualities that will get you through most things. I commend you guys on your ability to solve problems and source materials. Very impressive. We have it so easy over here in the US with regards to performing this kind of work and getting materials.
I don't know if you've got a high-end drone that has more restrictions on it's use, but drone footage along the river would have been good. If you're not interferring with road traffic and not in the flight of an aircraft, I think it's fine and you're not likely to get prosecuted. Almost everyone would be ok about it, very few would complain. The drone footage around the lake was fantastic and along the wooden steps to the top of the hill. You could have asked the guy who was talking about the grape beer to do a slot on your restoration of the house - maybe pretend he lives in the well and comes out at night to make wine and beer, or something along those lines.
What a profound and poetic reply to “Why did you move to Portugal?”
My wife and I lived in the Algarve for more than 30 years, I've been watching you guys for a couple of years now, and just had to visit central Portugal, Tomar was our first interest, however we moved close to Ferreira do Zezere, last year. Thank you for showing some beautiful places in Portugal. Even for a Portuguese like me, it's a new look.
Me, too! I am from the island of São Miguel & Sertã is idyllic

It was strange immediately recognizing the town I grew up in. Guess one good thing is that it will never change, so you're all set. Enjoy it, guys! 😉

Your warm, respectful and loving relation towards each other makes me believe in marriage
The spanking happens off camera 😂
It’s less about marriage and more about being respectful humans 😃
Having a bit of paper doesn't bring anything automatically by way of a loving relationship.
I totally agree
A respectful, productive partnership I daresay

Beautiful country, gracious people, great food, peace and quiet, what more can you ask for.
Thank you for sharing. I have taken two scouting trips and realize now I need to check out the central part of Portugal. 😼

From CHAVES to FARO the N2 is the most important route in Portugal. Enjoy this beautiful country!👍

It’s great that you have stopped to smell the roses. I really enjoyed this vlog.
What a beautiful place and the video was fantastic! Loved watching and really enjoyed seeing this area!
It's so quiet and peaceful !

Kylie scrubs up nicely for a meal out! Lucky man.
This was wonderful. Thank you. I’m living vicariously through your videos.
We relocated from America to Leiria. Have enjoyed watching your journey. Serta is now on our list to explore!
Lol a true yarny❤ I have deviated from travel plans just to pass a yarn store or three. It being a point of reference is spot on.
What a beautiful magical place. Thank you for sharing the beauty and wonderful people so worth the watch
Thank you, Kylie and Guy, for sharing the Central Portugal area… it’s so beautiful❤️
Loved seeing part of where you live with food and wine of the area.
Wowed by this! What a perspective to see the stunning environment where you live. Brings new meaning to your choice of relocation. And you both looked so relaxed and natural in this setting. I think you picked the jewel of Portugal for sure. Once again fabulous travel and tour videos. 👏
Just wanted to let you know that I am always hyped when I see that you've uploaded new content. Your work is really cool, inspiring and enjoyable 🙌
Thanks for showing your local Serta such a pretty township. The area in general is lovely
You live at a very, very amazing place and thank you so much for showing us so many beautiful places. Good idea to take a brake once in a while and visit good friends as well. All the best to you both.
How lovely this was! Thank you. The 'local' looks so good too. And HURRRAH for slow food and drinks made with love and care. 🌻🥰
OMG...pastel de nata ice cream. Amazing!
It looks beautiful, lucky you to have found such a nice area in Portugal. ❤️😎🇫🇷
You are both certainly living the dream. What a beautiful and calming place you live in. How clean it all is and looks incredible with the sun shining on it all. Well earned meal that. Thanks for sharing your beautuful local scenic views xx

Loved seeing your corner of paradise!
Just stayed 3 days at Bonjardim with our camper van. It's just paradise so pretty. We ate at the same table 😅 so funny to see in your videos. I'm following you since quite some time, watched all your videos. I think we will start looking for a house in Central Portugal too 😅
Absolutely lovely, just what I like good food and great scenery. Thank you xx
After seeing this short cameo of life near Serta, you having to explain why you live there is as unnecessary, as explaining why we need to breathe. What a beautiful area you live in, enjoy.
You guys make the most amazing videos. Thank you. 💯💯
Ojalá aprendan pronto portugués y lo hablen con los locales. Es una muestra de respeto al país y a las personas que ahora los acogen. Saludos
Thanks for the tour. The reflections of trees, buildings in the water was magic. Yum. The tripe and veal👏👏. The quietness is so soothing and precious. Gorgeous food and people. Enjoy🎉❤
Great camera work and editing. Just lovely. Thanks for the look see and explaining just where you are.
Now get back to work!
Graham-Orlando, USA
Brilliant, thank you.
Portugal is so beautiful! Thank you for the tour. I so enjoyed your visit to the winery as well.
omg I love all of it.

BEAUTIFUL . It looks like a great place to do some kayaking .
What a super surprise! Thankyou for taking the time to drink all that wine for us!
It’s a hard job, but we’re willing to suffer through it 😂
Cheers from Algarve ❤
Xtra good episode. That vineyard/restaurant is really impressive
Excellent portrayal of Central Portugal and relaxing dialog as well. When y'all were up on the overlook of the lakes below, I could actually smell the pines all the way over here in Central USA, lol. Thank you for this side trip from your home site to the environs.
Great video. Nice to see how creative Kylie is when she's having a 🍷✌️. Lovely interesting patterns and soo well done. ❤
Yummy yummy and stunning place thanks for sharing this
I always look forward to new "reports" 🥰 This one didn't disappoint either...tusen takk, as we say in my country, Norway
Damn you! I am more enchanted by this country with every passing day. I understand there are challenges, but what a mix of old and new. Fernandaires is amazing!!!!! Breathtaking. I love my country🇵🇹. Love this vídeo.
