Every time I watch your RUclips videos I wish I was 20-30 years younger as I am 72 years old. I agree how you financially support your self is no one business but thank you Kylie and Guy for informing people how you go about making money to pay for building supplies ( do they think you get it for free) soo you Sydney Evan’s you are rude for asking . Seeing what the two of you have accomplished in the past while is exhausting. I'd love to see what the 'lay about' commentor has accomplished in that time. Wowser.

I find it quite hilarious that some people actually watch your videos and still call you layabouts 🤣🤣🤣, I watch a few of these videos and you're one of the hardest working couples (to be fair Kylie does a lot) that I watch. I think you're absolutely amazing, well thought out plans and you get accused of being layabouts - sorry, I just find that so hilarious. Keep going, you're amazing, both of you!!!!

Most olive trees have a 2 year cycle. One year, they grow new branches and new leaves. The next year, they grow fruit. The branches and leaves have strengthened to carry the burden of the new fruit. That is why most plantations have two genus variations so as to have fruit every year, albeit from only 1/2 the total trees in the orchard. (I am a 75 yo Australian who grew olives in Oz.) They may have created a new genus that produces fruit annually but I doubt it as the growing history of this fruit goes back thousands of years.

It's a funny thing. When others see someone living maybe a not so conventional, yet desirable, lifestyle you often hear the comment 'How do they afford that?'. I think if you want to do something, you will find a way. Sometimes it takes planning, sometimes it takes sacrifice, sometimes it takes a level of hard work many would not think of attempting and sometimes it takes all of those. Throw in a little time, patience and courage, those always help too, and you'll be on your way. All the best on your journey, enjoying the videos. 🌸

Upholstery zips can be cut to any length they are sold from a long roll of zip with the zipper bits just slid along and then cut off.

You can buy zippers by the meter or yard then buy the zipper head separately. So you can have the zippers as long or as short. You may mainly find them where upholstery haberdashery is or in the market. I have no idea what it would be like in Portugal but maybe on amazon or ebay.

Lovely crochet poof. If you can't find a big zipper maybe you can attach half of the bottom and add a zipper to the other half ?

How can anyone call you a layabout? You are a very hard working couple. I'm sure the foul commenter could not last a day doing the hard work you put in digging or laying in that floor or the dozens of chores you do daily. Best wishes, You are both very inspirational.

Mosaic crochet😍. It has become my favourite crochet technique. I make bedspreads king and queen size.
Planning is key to getting to a place in life that nourishes the soul. And it takes work to get there also.

I'm South African born Portuguese and my mom used to spend a lot of her free time when I was growing up doing CROCHET and she was really good at it. She did very fine fillegre type but when her hands started to cause her pain. She stopped. She passed away last year and I miss her sooooo much. My point is thank you for sharing your crochet work. It brought back a torrent of great memories.
BTW my mom was born near Coimbra in central Portugal in a little village called Senhor da Serra, do yourselves a favour and go visit in August when they have the festivals there.
    God bles you.

Layabouts...seriously, people are so mean sometimes. Keep going the good job. We are starting a similar project in 2 month in France. Best. Romain

I enjoy watching you two. You are very intelligent and hardworking. Interesting that someone would call people who work as hard as you do layabouts....from their computer on their couch. I crochet and I love your pouf. If I were you I would stuff it with balls of yarn wink wink. You could use a small zipper, enough to get the stuffing out and sew the rest closed.

A great channel and inspiring for so many of us adopting a self-sufficient lifestyle. I'm currently undertaking a 'new' build and have spent the last eight months establishing a no-dig garden, fish pond and fruit trees on 6,400ms. I really enjoy learning from your mistakes, as I do from mine. Again, a great channel, and I wish you all the wealth and health you so deserve.
