Honestly, this is the best method I have found to tie a gi belt without it coming undone... It's mom tested :) My son started BJJ two months ago and for the first 3-4 lessons where we tried using the standard way to tie his belt, it always came undone by the end of class. After trying this method, not once has it come undone again, which is so amazing... It's the little things! Today, his instructor told my son in front of everyone at the end of class that he has the best gi knot because it never comes undone. Thanks for posting this how to.
Best video demonstration of this knot, by far. I had seen dozens of these but never had I been able to grasp where the bottom end enters in the belt layers. Thanks a lot! Also, This is great for those of us who have younger kids but it is even better for those of us who train. This knot does not come off even if you don’t tie your belt (or the knot itself) tight. This means that you don’t waste time re-tying your belt between drills, rolls or specific sparring. You can always have a sip of water if you need one because you only have to concern yourself with tucking your jacket inside the belt (which is easy because this knot does not require you to tie the belt tight to your body)
Yes I have been using the lazy way for 5+ years and now it’s time to step up. My son also has the ability to shed his belt within minutes of class starting. He will be learning this too. Oss!
Man been trying to figure this tie out for a few months now my 5yo keeps losing his belt this was the easiest most well explained way to do it I have seen thank you
Ive just started doing BJJ (gracie barra chain too) a month ago. Am i the only one thinking its way too easy? Wheres the workout youre talking about? I barely get warmed up and the hour is over... I used to do some mma for a few months years ago, that was 20 times harder. Everyday I felt lucky just being able to finish it. I feel like in BJJ we're just learning the technique and theres no workout aspect at all...
I just did 2 years of Muay Thai and feel pretty accomplished, now I start BJJ tonight! I've always wanted to wear a Gi cause I never did any martial arts as a kid and know I know how to tie my belt like a cool guy 😎 Thanks!
Both my littles started this week. After the first class of their belts continuously coming undone, I figured I better figure out how to tie it more effectively. I had it down after the second try, using my own legs as a model (God knows my waist is too wide for their belts). Very simple and super effective. I doubt this will fall off the entire class. THANK YOU!
Ty so much! I literally was able to follow along and I only had to rewind a couple times, and my 5yos belt is tied perfect! And I don't have to ask his dad or teacher for help! 👏👏👏
Thank you I just started BJJ, JKD, and MMA about 2 months ago and for BJJ I had no clue how to tie a gi belt so I had to ask my instructor thank you very much!
Yeah. I made myself watch this video and learn the tie. Just got promoted to blue belt, so I can’t have my belt looking like it’s my second class ever and I tied my belt for the first time. Thanks!
Thanks for the vid. I don't take part in bjj but I bought a bjj belt for karate simply because the quality of the bjj belt was vastly superior to the karate belts available in the shop :)
It's so weird. I actually thought my belly had sized up during lockdown and found my belt became too short for a regular knot, I was literally on the edge of buying a longer one lol. But with the superlock my current belt fits just perfect! :)
I think ive used the traditional knot for a while know and it always comes undone for me (at least 4 times per class), so now im gonna try this, hope it works lol
Some people likely want their belt to be coming undone during rolling or competition for different reasons, whether it is to use for lapel techniques or to catch a breather when the referee makes them tie it back on.
Yes, technically you are correct! As Master Carlos Gracie Jr. said: "The red strip on the same side of your heart". But still superlock if you do this way ;)
I have a question. My kiddo started up karate. Would this knot be ok to do for him or no? I don't want to do it if it would be disrespectful in some way towards anyone. Sorry to bother with a dumb question but I figured to just ask.

Great to hear!! Awesome!
This is the only way I'll tie my son's belt. He has never had his belt come undone.
Finally a video that is slow enough for a new guy like me to follow step by step!!
Thank you, now as a grown man I don't have to ask my bjj friends to tie my belt anymore... Baby steps 😂
Hahahhaa 🙌🏾
I felt this comment 😂😂
That’s how I felt lol
Facts 😅
Ah, that one hit me hard.
I guess after three years it’s time to learn the fancy way to tie my belt. OSS professor.
It’s good to know, especially for kids or special events 🤙🏽👊🏽
I am a 1 stripe blue belt and have won local tournaments. I still can't tie a good knot on my belt
Best video I’ve seen. Everyone else zips through it with no extra camera angles. Best video I’ve seen. Thanks 🙏

Just had my first BJJ class last night ! what a work out and an experience !!
Life-changing experience for many many people.
Love it keep up the Rollin
Hope you're still at it!!
My first was yesterday. I saw somebody tie this knot this evening I needed to do some research to remember how it was done and this is perfect!

I've watched this like 10 times already in the span of a month and I'm gonna keep watching it until I am able to do it from memory hahahaha
I tie my kids belts like this every day for class and they never come undone! Best method by far.
Awesome!!
I just did 2 years of Muay Thai and feel pretty accomplished, now I start BJJ tonight! I've always wanted to wear a Gi cause I never did any martial arts as a kid and know I know how to tie my belt like a cool guy 😎 Thanks!
I have to watch this video every time I take my sons to ju jitsu class! This is the best way to tie their belts.

I've done BJJ and Judo for a while now, and immediately after trying this... yep it's a game changer
I've tried other video tutorials and this one was the best one, not once did my kids belt unravel in class. Thank you
Best video I’ve seen, and the knot is by far the neatest!
I've watched dozens of videos. Either I wouldn't understand or the knot would fall quickly.
But not more of that now thanks to you!
Thank you I just started BJJ, JKD, and MMA about 2 months ago and for BJJ I had no clue how to tie a gi belt so I had to ask my instructor thank you very much!
This is awesome! I have been double knitting my daughter’s belt but it comes undone. Thanks!
Been trying this the last few weeks. Works great, doesn't slip and it's easy to adjust, thanks!
Thank you so much I tried 5 different videos and this is the only one that worked
Holy crap...that looks easy as hell! Im going to have to try this next class!
Yeah. I made myself watch this video and learn the tie. Just got promoted to blue belt, so I can’t have my belt looking like it’s my second class ever and I tied my belt for the first time.
Thanks!
Haha same reason I’m watching it. Before didn’t really care but now would look silly
I’ve always wondered how to do this, but never looked into it. Thanks for making it easy! I’ll use this for both of my kids and myself too!
Somebody showed me this technique in the adult class and I quickly forgot how to do it. Glad to find your video.
absolute GAME CHANGER. Tried this today and belt did not come off once. THANK YOU
Thank you so much, everytime in class my belt falls off and becomes a hassle, this is a life saver!
Im watching this right before training
Same 😂
I've been tying my belt like that since 1971.
I thank you sooo much I just got off class using this tie and it's literally like a rock, it couldn't be better. Thank you again ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏
Thankyou. I’m finally getting back to the gym and I had forgotten this knot
Only now deciding to learn to tie it neatly after receiving my blue belt, better late than never thank you!.
How did you do it before lol
Or did you mainly train in nogi
@@FonyTerguson713 bog standard double not and yeah mainly Nogi to start XD
Thanks for the vid. I don't take part in bjj but I bought a bjj belt for karate simply because the quality of the bjj belt was vastly superior to the karate belts available in the shop :)
Thank you very much for this method. It is not commonly used where I train but it's very effective and better than most methods.
New belts come undone to easy, learning this method of tying my belt was handy
Went at one of those dojo’s 2 ish years ago, for 3 years, was really fun, and now I know how to break someone’s arm, thanks for the joy.
This is the BEST way! I can roll for weeks and it will never come undone! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Awesome, thank you. I was using some bastardisation of the actual knot here and the standard knot, will see how this holds out later :D
Tied my son's belt successfully for the first time using this technique 👌
Amazing!!
Very helpful. Thank you!
Dude!! THANK YOU! I was pulling my hair out over here watching other videos!! Lol
it is the most beutiful belt lock i ever seen, you look so cool with that
On my way back to class in awhile and had to make sure I was ready
thank you for taking the time to make this
This style worked the best! Thank you
*NEW SUB!* Im gonna try this on my BJJ Belt! Thank You!! 🙏
Excellent, thank you very much! My son just began lessons and this was very helpful.
Super helpful and easy! Thanks a million :)
Thank you Professor Marcelo 🙏🏽
My son and I appreciate this video very much.
Great and clear instructional and cool points for this awesome and functional variation
Finally a method that doesn’t come undone
Thank you for this. I thought my son's belt was too long but it's the perfect size for tying it this way.
It's so weird. I actually thought my belly had sized up during lockdown and found my belt became too short for a regular knot, I was literally on the edge of buying a longer one lol. But with the superlock my current belt fits just perfect! :)
@@irva5762 I thought I was going to have to get my son another one too...glad I no longer have to at this point
Thanks for making it easy for me 😅 before I was free-styling using my stupid brain 😬🤣
Uso where do you train?
Thank you professor :) new way to do it 🙂
Thank You!! This was a really easy step-by-step process, and I learned in minutes! .. I sound like a bot. Well I'm not, anyway, thanks!
Thank you now I can finally tie my belt
Awesome stays in the whole class for me!💕
I think ive used the traditional knot for a while know and it always comes undone for me (at least 4 times per class), so now im gonna try this, hope it works lol
Most people still use the traditional way and it's fine. But this knot is good to know, especially for events/ceremonies or for kids.
Best video ever. Thank you so much!
I’m a blue belt and have been for 2 years, I always tied the simple way because this way is hard but I finally got it
Thank you for this! My belt doesn't get loose when rolling and drilling anymore!
Tysvm for the show, I can never focus with my belt untied ^^
Thank god I found this video this is awesome
Simple right 👊🏽
I can do this tie with my karate belt but i can never get the final knot to look neat and tidy like the black belts seem to be able to...
I am wondering if there is a standard requirement for putting the bar stripe end to left or right?
Thanks for this useful knowledge Mr. Marcelo 🙏🙏🙏
Best method everrr!!!!
thx this helped alot im just about to get my uniform and i rlly needed to know how
Ever since I watched this I've noticed how ugly everybody else's belt looks... this is by far the best look for it
Please also post a video on how to keep the gi inside the belt too
haha that's impossible unless you glue it to the belt
This was so helpful thank you so much belt ting starts at 0:30
You couldn’t struggle through those 30 seconds.
Some people likely want their belt to be coming undone during rolling or competition for different reasons, whether it is to use for lapel techniques or to catch a breather when the referee makes them tie it back on.
Outstanding! Thank you so much.
Is the stripe label correct on the right side or the left side?
Thank you this has helped so much!
I'm a kid and that really helped
why you put the red strip on the right ????? the grades strip should always be on the left right ?
Yes, technically you are correct! As Master Carlos Gracie Jr. said: "The red strip on the same side of your heart". But still superlock if you do this way ;)
Yoh 😇🤍🖤🥋
Fabio Ferrone Viola im confused
Wow, this helped so much. Thank you
"Superlock style" i feel like that's also a suitable name for ypur art! Haha
Just tried it for the first time. My daughter has class in 30 mins. I’ll let know how it works out.
how did it go?
@@ItsSonderlike a glove. Both kids belts stayed tight the whole time. I did the same knot on my nephew’s belt. Very good video
Best guide!!! Thank you
I have a question. My kiddo started up karate. Would this knot be ok to do for him or no? I don't want to do it if it would be disrespectful in some way towards anyone. Sorry to bother with a dumb question but I figured to just ask.
fenixarchenfel it shouldn’t be a problem 🤙🏽
@@gbsainteanne Awesome! Thank you!
I’m a karate instructor, and it’s fine to do that knot. Karate does not have a specific way of tying the belt.
Belt tie starts at 0:30
Thank you for this. It's absolutely perfect
Many thanks Savon!
Thank you professor!
So far the most complicated lock I have learned in bjj
Professor, please film with Go-Pro
Yeah, we like that idea for sure!
Why?
Thanks man you made me get my first stripe 😁😁 I’m subscribing..
Thank you now my belt doesn’t fall off
Voila!
Great tie!
I can’t do it, how does he get it so perfect even though I did it exactly like supposed to it doesn’t work for me. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
When I pull at the end it just all comes undone how do I prevent that from happening
Thanks I did a whole 4 hour grading for my brown belt not bjj but it still didn’t come off once
Hopefully, this is good for when I do my weigh-in. Apparently, it’s on the day of the match.
So that's the correct sides the pictures on the belt go on???
Oh dang that looks good
This helped me a lot thank you
Thanks! very helpful.
