Why your kimonos are so expensive, you force your students to buy that to be uniqe, but your staff is almost 2 times more expensive than fuji or tatami etc. This is just business and not cool.

You can start old. However, BJJ is pretty damned hard on your body. Even with relatively gentle training, it takes a toll on your joints. Wear and tear builds up as you age and you can accelerate it or hold it back. Tough exercise, be that BJJ or other, accelerates it and you might well find yourself in a bad way quicker than if you'd stuck to say swimming and yoga. Your knee ligaments take a pasting, spinal facet joints and in the gi the fingers take a real bashing. It's fun but is it more fun than not having crippling hand arthritis when you're in your 70s+? You have to make an informed choice. "Anyone at any age" isn't an informed choice IMO. The longer you do it, the worse the effects. The harder you go, the worse the effects. But at some point, you have to pay the piper.

OK as someone who has taken one class and got injured (ribs), but also practiced TKD for 10 years I'm curious about your comment. I'm going to keep going, but It seems to me that your partners and general school program will determine your risk for injury. Everyone will get injured given the sport but if you choose a non MMA focused school, aren't training for competitions or trying to prove something and be a "bad ass" of some kind I would think your likelihood for injury is reduced. I'm a complete novice but my goal is technique and proficiency in the art not full speed competition with the intent of submitting my opponent at all costs. It goes without saying that BJJ is harder on the body than swimming or yoga but just like other martial arts I've practiced you can train to your level of tolerance and focus on your specific goals.

Both my littles started this week. After the first class of their belts continuously coming undone, I figured I better figure out how to tie it more effectively. I had it down after the second try, using my own legs as a model (God knows my waist is too wide for their belts). Very simple and super effective. I doubt this will fall off the entire class. THANK YOU!

Best video demonstration of this knot, by far. I had seen dozens of these but never had I been able to grasp where the bottom end enters in the belt layers. Thanks a lot! Also, This is great for those of us who have younger kids but it is even better for those of us who train. This knot does not come off even if you don’t tie your belt (or the knot itself) tight. This means that you don’t waste time re-tying your belt between drills, rolls or specific sparring. You can always have a sip of water if you need one because you only have to concern yourself with tucking your jacket inside the belt (which is easy because this knot does not require you to tie the belt tight to your body)

1:25 .. incorrect, there are 4 ways. You can also lock up a submission and the match then rolls out of bounds and the referee stops the match. The player having the submission locked in, gets 2 points and the match resumes in a standing position. 2:20 .. also incorrect, there are 3 positions that reward 4 points. Mount, rear mount and back control. Yes, there are two positions from the back.

From a vertical perspective maybe relative to his legs, but look at fitness competitors or athletes that height and you see 42 - 50+ inch chests and pushing 200 pounds in some cases. If you mean he should wear an A3 I disagree as that fits me at 5'10 195 & 32 waist but I use A2 pants.
