    This video is misleading. Turning black belt at age 57 after just 7 years is anomalous (and, sorry to say, a bit fishy). BJJ coaches/gyms favor younger and stronger guys. Old guys need to be patient that they will progress much more slowly than younger guys. It's a personal journey, but saying that "BJJ is for anyone" is just not quite precise...

    I took my second class yesterday... I am 54 and totally loving it! The first class I went too hard trying to show I wasn't old and just got so winded and sore, threw up several times. The second class I took, I relaxed a lot more worked on my breathing and didn't try to show off, it was one of the best days of my life. I'm a little bruised and beaten down, but I'm so alive right now!

    Nice video explanation. Not sure if you realize this but for the adults, you described a timeframe of 6 years to get a black belt. I know how the Gracie Barra system works and I can tell viewers that this is absolutely not the norm for someone to reach black belt in 6 years in Gracie Barra. What he fails to mention is that the time shown on each belt is the MINIMUM time requirement at each individual belt level. Most importantly, attendance is only one factor for belt promotions.

    Why your kimonos are so expensive, you force your students to buy that to be uniqe, but your staff is almost 2 times more expensive than fuji or tatami etc. This is just business and not cool.

    • @paisano316
      @paisano316 3 месяца назад

      You’re right about the gi prices. Currently, a new GB adult gi runs $150 as compared to a cheap model of Tatami or Fuji that are currently running $85-100 new. I wish GB would offer lower cost options because it can definitely be very difficult for students to afford not only the registration fee & tuition, but also pay $150 for a school brand uniform. I understand their desire for uniformity, but that can easily be solved by changing the rules to where you just have to have like 2 or 3 GB patches on your gi and it’s gotta be white or blue and sell low cost patches at the front desk.

    Both my littles started this week. After the first class of their belts continuously coming undone, I figured I better figure out how to tie it more effectively. I had it down after the second try, using my own legs as a model (God knows my waist is too wide for their belts). Very simple and super effective. I doubt this will fall off the entire class. THANK YOU!

    Best video demonstration of this knot, by far. I had seen dozens of these but never had I been able to grasp where the bottom end enters in the belt layers. Thanks a lot! Also, This is great for those of us who have younger kids but it is even better for those of us who train. This knot does not come off even if you don’t tie your belt (or the knot itself) tight. This means that you don’t waste time re-tying your belt between drills, rolls or specific sparring. You can always have a sip of water if you need one because you only have to concern yourself with tucking your jacket inside the belt (which is easy because this knot does not require you to tie the belt tight to your body)
