Now THIS is how you market a game. It doesn't FEEL like an ad, it's interesting and legitimately fun content. great job to you Alex and the team at SEGA for coming up with this collaboration effort.
@@rdude309 Well it's pretty clearly intended to reach out to a Western audience to give more insight to the series, which is something the studio very rarely does. So it's not a 1-to-1 advertisement, but certainly serves the purpose of increasing hype for the upcoming titles.
Alex OMG, that's so huge! and it's so cool to learn about Composers who are a huge influence on me not only musically but as an enjoyer of so many of the Games they've worked on. this video was awesome, and thank you so much for wanting to show Fukuyama-san so many of these awesome covers, mine included!

This is SO COOL. It made me want to play the games. It's absolutely badass that you were added as a character! Also, it takes a talented interviewer to make it engaging for both existing fans and newbies, so thank you for that :)
You definitely should! I know it's already a meme of sort to recommend Yakuza 0, but if you only want to play one game, and make it the highlight of the franchise, Y0 is the game to play. It's just so much fun, but also damn emotional masterpiece.
@@GugureSux Also helps that, despite being the first chronologically, it's relatively recent, meaning it's very polished both in production and in gameplay.
As someone who had heard the song before I'd ever touched a single Yakuza game, I'm gonna have to go on a limb and say the game wasn't the deciding factor in its popularity. It's just genuinely a great piece that can stand on its own.
There's a special feeling seeing you get more snd more recognition and opportunities like this. I've been following you for a long time and was entranced by your ability to express technicality i music/sound to a layman like myself. Great video Alex! Thank you for this interview
What a surprise to see Marina Rios here! The first time i saw here was in an anime event here in Brazil and she was walking around dressed as Korone and i had no idea who she was and what she did until then. Very cool and very talented. And Alex, as always, is a GOAT for bringing fans and content creators closer to the people that make them.
It's so great that you asked about what other games they composed. Absolutely can get lost in the popularity of what they're known for, so it's so nice to hear it straight from the composers.
To some extent, I think it's true that the games and the characters have contributed to the popularity of Baka Mitai, but there's something special about the song itself that makes it stand out an be so memorable, none of the other karaoke tracks have gotten nearly as much attention as Baka Mitai
Yakuza is my favourite game series. One of the greatest game series of all time. And the in-game music is so perfectly created and used, it brings tears to a grown man's eyes. Thank you for this video!
baka mitai is the meme that made me play the yakuza 0 in 2019, now 7 games later i cant express how the yakuza seriers is important to me, and tracks like machine gun kiss, twin dragons, oath of enma or the goddamn experience that is for who's sake are just as fundamental to that journey as the writing the programing or the acting in these games, so i really wish to thank both composers and their teams for the incredible work, thank you guys
Awesome to see a platform extended to the minds and talents that provided these tracks. Loved hearing the other efforts and also the relationship to RGG that invoke passion. Fun and enjoyable video!
I'm right at the end of Ishin, just completing the last few substories before finishing the main campaign and you're in all of my formations. Ryoma's enemies are no match for the power of funk! Great job on the interviews!!
Fukuyama-san and Shoji-san are amazing. Music is a huge part of the RGG series, and they always deliver with their 10/10 OST's. Each track neatly fits the situation it was made for, enhancing the already immersive experience even further!
This was one of those videos where I put a like on it at the start and almost unliked it because I went to like it again halfway through 😅 The composers seemed so nice!! Especially when you showed him the Baka Mitai covers, its lovely to see that the original composers apopreciate it when we cover their songs!!
Whoever composed Receive and Bite You deserves infinite praise. Yakuza 4 was the first RGG I played, right when I bought a PS3. I didn’t know any of the characters or the lore prior; and that song did a huge part in making me fall in love with the coolness of Majima. That song alone gave me a great idea of who he is
Whiskey and Rhapsody definitely *sounds* improvised, a very wild jazzy track. Cool to know it really was! Honestly, Japanese video game music is so distinct. The approach to melody and extended harmony isn't something you really hear elsewhere. The layering and orchestration too. Amazing video!
I was hoping and WAITING for Shoji to mention F Zero! I honestly remember him most for that soundtrack than for any of the yakuza games, because of how incredible a mark GX left on my adolescence. Absolutely phenomenal work by him!
Thank you so much! I love this video and I love how wholesome the interview was! I'm so happy that you're a summon in the game! Thats suuper cool. Congratulations!

This is super cool to see, especially since I'm currently working my way through the series right now (I'm currently on 5).
