My New Boat Part 3 of 3: Why I chose this boat and why I made the modifications and changes that I did. • My New Boat Part 3 of ...
First I want to say, that without the grace of God I would not have been able to buy this boat. Everything I have, all that I receive is through God's Amazing Grace. This is my first new boat at the age of 67. Our son, Javi, told the guy I have been waiting 40 years for a boat like this. I thought back to when we took him and his brother Orlando fishing years ago at the White Mountains. Dang, it has been 40 years.
God saved me from Viet Nam, introduced me to a great wife, lead me through a (sometimes) dangerous 20 year first career, blessed us with fine sons, grand children and daughter-in-laws, has blessed me with a solid business since finally committing to him and has been looking out for me for decades. All I can say is, God Thank You and let thy will be done. Let your will be done through me.

I love the 2 Humminbird units and the trolling motor upgrades.
A 75 hp and power poles would make this an ideal bass club tournament rig.
I have come to realize that 70 mph on water isn't nearly as much fun as people think it is.
A 75 on this boat with a 4 blade spitfire stainless prop will get you in the mid 40s with no problem and for me, at age 62, that's plenty fast enough.

Budget determined at the time to keep the 60, though I agree a 75 would have been nice. Reservoirs are so deep here I'd hardly use power poles, if in shallower waters definitely would help.

I just purchased the exact same boat. I bought mine from a local Tracker Dealer, so the idea of switching out the electronics never came up. I special ordered mine with three options from the factory: passenger console, boat cover and 75hp. I had the dealer install a few things for me. FWIW, the 60 is made in China and the 75 is made in USA! I ordered it in January and finally took possession last month. I have yet to get it wet. But, it sure is pretty sitting in my driveway. Great conversation starter.

Okie Outdoor Adventures Glad to hear that. It’s been fun fishing on a reliable boat. Hope you get the chance. I weighed buying outright vs payments and went with payments with a sizable amount down.

Yeah you made some good upgrades. Been looking at these boats. I guess you can choose upgrades at tracker didn’t know that. The trolling motor is a biggie for me I’m not mr mechanical so I’m don’t want to do it myself haha. Had been looking at used but you make a good point on break in hadn’t really thought about that. Great vid

how does the cover go on with the trolling motor sticking up and out so far? I'm planning on upgrading my TM but I'm afraid that the cover will no longer fit and I don't want to pay for a custom cover as well.

I use an inexpensive one from WalMart. Fits perfect. Couldn't see paying $450 for the Tracker one.

Nice boat! I see you have upgraded graphs. Was that an option they offered or did you have to buy the Lowrance Hook units also? I will be getting the same boat in white with vinyl flooring! Congrats!

Thanks for the congrats. If you subscribed and saw what I upgraded from, you'll see it was a big improvement. Tracker Marine in Mesa (Cole Norris Sales Rep) worked with me. They pulled the Lowrance system and the Maxxum off the boat and saved them for me. Those are all going on an 87' Bayliner Trophy 1810 I am refurbishing for our son.
I bought a Ulterra iPilot Link with DI, Helix Gen3 9" SI for the Console, Helix Gen3 9" DI for the bow, added Ram mounts, and had the Ethernet installed to coordinate all three. I chose the Helix units so I can (1) see them and (2) they can work with the Ulterra and iPilot so I can focus on fishing and not running the trolling motor. I paid extra to have them install it so I know it's done right and will work. I discovered on our second trip the 500 amp hour cranking battery wasn't enough to handle 9 hours of running the livewell, both graphs, and auto charting that comes with the Hummingbird. So, Tracker Boats Mesa were real good about installing a 100 amp 27 series cranking battery that is better equipped to handle all my electronics for a longer period of time. I may add a Talon next year that can also be run off the iPilot Link remote. Juries out on that for now. Discovered also that the rods fit in/out of the tubes better if the rods are sleeved. Helps protect the guides as well. Went to Lows and bought battery operated 3 light pucks with self adhesive strips. Mounted the rod locker ones at the bottom outside right below the rods on the black rod holder. The third I mounted on the center of the lid to the center storage compartment. Work real good for before sunrise preparing the boat. Added Boat Buckle retracting transom strap tie downs, but be sure to order the adapter brackets with them since they won't directly mount to the trailer. I also found the navigation light fits perfectly on the port side along the side rail with the end tucking neatly near the transom. I took a 3-4" piece of Velcro roughly parallel to behind the passenger seat and screwed it the center to the side under the rail to hold it in place. Makes for easy access and out of the way without the hassle of the center locker or rod locker storage. Congrats to you as well on your boat. You're going to love the boat. I should have the video out soon for breaking in the outboard. Make sure to read page 37 of the manual to break it in right before taking it out. Boring as heck those first two hours breaking in the motor and feels like forever, but a big money saver down the road by doing it right. The ingraining 8 I'll do as I go fishing. I hope all that helps for your boat. Enjoy.

Old Man Bass Fishing Arizona .... thanks for that well detailed description! I will most likely do the same as you. I may have to purchase the upgraded graphs and trolling motor separately that’s like a $6k upgrade but man the functionality and ease of use you will have! It’s worth it in my opinion. I guess I will just have to sell the stock units... it’s to bad they won’t give you credit for it, maybe they will... I’ll ask. I am going to go with the 75hp Merc. I will subscribe because I want to see how everything works when you get out on the water!

Paul I took the advise to sell them on my own. Trade in is near nothing. I did find the right step, costly, but better than a broken back. How can you put a price on safety and health. Trick Step at $489 with 3 steps and a pole. Just need to reverse the swing of the trailer tongue. Two week delivery because of COVID19.

I am looking at this boat too, but I don’t know how the vinyl will do in the heat and moisture. Will it get too hot? Will the moisture get trapped underneath and rot the wood, if there is any?

    • @oldmanbassfishingarizona5706
      @oldmanbassfishingarizona5706  4 года назад

@@rockhouseoutdoors9554 That is why I chose the carpet. In the Arizona sun with temperatures commonly over 100, vinyl would be miserable to me. The seats get hot enough as it is. Tackle bags and other gear do help to shade the seats w bit while fishing though.

weird, I just bought the same boat like yours, but my setup is different from yours.
    hmmm...seems like your motor is a 2019.
    But Congrats..

My boat was a roll of sheet metal in February when I ordered it. Serial number does indicate 2019, I believe October. Since manufacturers buy in bulk I'd be shocked if it were a 2020 motor. Everything else was probably made in late 2019 as well. Just like 2021 cars will be rolling off the factory line in August.
