Not gonna lie. I subscribed to Daily Drop for the sole reason of getting extra Kara & Nate content. I know I will never get the necessary time off of work to travel enough to earn the necessary miles to take advantage of any of this. Thus will never qualify for any of these rewards. I just FF through the video until I see Kara or Nate's face again.

You don't earn miles/points by traveling, you earn points by opening and using credit cards.

I also subscribed for more Kara and Nate… I wish more time was given for ROUND trip routes or basic economy routes.
I understand “value per point” is insane with these luxury tickets, but you need an INCREDIBLE amount of points AND they show you getting there. Not coming back home.

This is hands down, one of the best explanations on how to use miles to book a reward flight, I've seen on RUclips. Well done!

Great video as always though I'd definitely add an asterisk in that it's much more difficult to earn Aeroplan or lifemiles outside the US as the credit card points offerings or sign up bonuses are either nonexistent or much lower than that of the US market.

Can you explain how to accrue miles and points in these amounts on a limited income? I just dont have money in abundance to earn a lot of miles and points.

    • @LK_EBM

Open up credit cards for the sign up bonus. Amex Gold or Plat will get you enough points

      A) put every bill and everyday purchase you possibly can on a credit card - making sure to pay the card off in full every month so you don't get hit with interest
      B) save up your points over time - it doesn't matter how long it takes you to earn enough points because they don't expire

We just bagged return flights from UK to Dubai for only £50 each way using Avios Points. Does anyone know what other reward programs you can transfer Avios into when in the UK?

Premium economy is not bad. Best bang for the buck if you fly often. Paying for first class is just ridiculous.

I enjoyed the more advanced content of this video compared to previous videos. However, you may want to have this channel stand on its own and target the right audience so that you don't keep getting confused Kara & Nate fanboys and girls who understand close to nothing about the topic discussed.

Spanish speaker here, Avianca is pronounced "Ah-vee-ahn-ca" not "Ay-vee-ahn-ca." But no matter how you pronounce it, AV is the sweet spot for LH award flights. Thanks for a good tutorial!

I'd second what MattNav says. This is super useful for US/Canada based travellers but is not so useful for European travellers as conversely we can often transfer to the Lufthansa Miles and More Programme (or in many cases not at all with cards) but not Aeroplan/United programmes.
So that then means that many of the sites referenced do not help people with European FF programmes or cards. The only site that currently helps us find the availability calendars of First class, like that displayed at for example 9:19, is actually Expert Flyer. And that can be clunky and difficult to use. So over here we really lack those calendars for our FF programmes redemptions and it can take forever to find availability.
Other than that, overall super useful for North America based travellers.
Final minute point - Nate is in Lufthansa's Premium Economy and not econony. Lufthansa economy on that plane (and generally) is supppper cramped.
    Thanks a lot!

I am going to do a month in New Zealand. I was thinking about renting a car. Since that is a big expense is it a good idea to use points for a rental car?

Confusing. Was this 1st class flight booked with Avianca points or Aeroplan points? I thought it was Avianca for 87K New York to Frankfurt but then it ended up being Washington to Munich and 100K with Aeroplan?

They never stated what route they flew. This video is simply showing you how to fly Lufthansa 1st class using partner award.
