How can anyone say this wonderful man is not musical?? He writes and plays his own music, he enhances others' music. He has won international yodeling contests in the past. He is a wonderful entertainer and his music helped calm my soul during a difficult time in my life. Luckily for me he frequented our part of the world. May he continue to write, play and sing for many, many years to come.
If we could all follow this simpe prescription--be about making bridges--what a better world this would be. Thanks Bill, for your beautiful songs, but more than that the beautiful sentimetnts embodied within them!!
Bill Staines is an amazing song writer and wonderful to see in concert, as he entertains not only with his music, but also with his stories and tall tales.
I grant you that Bill Staines isn't the best vocalist ever, but his specialty is in writing beautiful tunes and then backing them up with profound lyrics that give you insights and inspiration. In my opinion, that more than makes up for whatever he lacks in vocals.
The Bridge Builder by Will Allen Dromgoole An old man, going a lone highway, Came, at the evening, cold and gray, To a chasm, vast, and deep, and wide, Through which was flowing a sullen tide. The old man crossed in the twilight dim; The sullen stream had no fear for him; But he turned, when safe on the other side, And built a bridge to span the tide...
RIP Bill. We miss you already.

What a wonderful song and what a heartfelt performance. And I love his genuine voice.
One of my favorites too. Played it for my daughter's 4th grade class, and they loved it.
One of the few who can play/pick a guitar upside down and backwards. Amazing!

amazing Bill, cheers The Makem Folk Singer,
Super song from a talented songwriter.
Nice player too in the Libba Cotton style
We need to build bridges, and remember, they need to reach both sides.
The Bridge Builder by Will Allen Dromgoole
An old man, going a lone highway,
Came, at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast, and deep, and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fear for him;
But he turned, when safe on the other side,
And built a bridge to span the tide...
It's he playing a right handed guitar, left handed?
YES he is!
Like Libba Cotten.
This is absolutely so à propos in the Trump era.
Why make it political. This is a song for all times.
@@mrs.marshajohnson7431 It is a song for all times, and like listeners in all times and places, I was listening to it in my own time and place.
