  • It's all about me! This is just me talking honestly and openly about my life and what makes me me. I wrote down a list of different aspects of my life I wanted to talk about, ranging from my favourite Christmas movies or what I'd do if I won the lottery to harder hitting subjects such as my mum's suicide and my battle with depression and put a number next to each. I then used a random number generator to decide in which order I talk about these subjects to try and stop it just being a boring progression of events and, in all honesty, I think it was a genius idea! I was only expecting to make a few of these videos but it turns out I had more to say than expected. If you enjoy this, please like and subscribe so you can follow my story as I try to make a name for myself in the music industry.
In this episode, I talk about my battle with depression.
    Thanks for watching, Gareth

What you are saying about Depression makes sense to me. I was diagnosed as having Depression as a young adult, hospitalized at 30 and struggled with mental illness for most of my life. Medication did help and counseling has. I knew I was Depressed because I had practically memorized the Psychology book we had in the University I had gone to.

Thank you; I'm glad you feel it made sense as I know what I want to say but sometimes the words get jumbled up somewhere between my brain and my mouth and what comes out isn't always as coherent as I'd like it to be. I'm sorry to hear about your own experiences but I'm glad you recognised it for what it was, especially at a time when it would not have been talked about to anywhere near the extent it is today. Not everything changes for the better but I think the world is making real progress with mental health issues and the stigma is so much less than it must have been for you.

You gave good advice about mental illness. You explained how it was important to get help, how chemical imbalances can happen and were very encouraging. I totally agree with you about what you said here about those things.

Thank you Cat; I can only explain as much as I understand and mental illness is still a bit of a mystery unfortunately but I just wanted to be as honest as I could be from my own perspective. I hope this can be useful to someone who is perhaps feeling the same way who doesn't realise they actually have depression.

You are welcome. I just hope it helps someone who, like me, may not even realise they have depression. It seems mad to think that I didn't even know until others urged me to get help
