Hi flock talk! I was wondering if you could eventually make a video about taking your bird to the vet?
Like... what questions should be asked, proper etiquette, things to watch for to make sure your vet is qualified and anything else!

I bought a "catio" online & made it into an indoor bird aviary for my 3 tiels & parakeet. It works amazingly & now I don't feel guilty when I go to work, they love their aviary. Its HUGE for them. Its 7ft long, 3ft wide & 6ft tall. They have lots of room to fly, hop & stretch their wings. Best $350 I've ever spent. Want to add, it works for small birds. Anything bigger than a green cheek conure would chew thru the wood, but my smaller birds it works wonders!

I let my 2 parakeets have freedom in my bedroom, from the am till pm...which at this point we could call it "my bird room"...that I sleep in...ha!
My one bird had a fascination with my lamp on my vanity.
She wanted to sit on the light bulb. Thankfully light bulbs arent hot anymore. So I had to put a cloth hanky over the top of the lamp shade.
These little ones can get into trouble and should be supervised! 🐤

I have nowhere in my house to make a birdroom but luckily, after MUCH negotiation, I am now turning my balcony into a birdroom!!🥳😂 It's one of those corner balconies with two walls and a roof, and I've used untreated pine and galvanized aviary wire. It's only a temporary 6-12 month structure as I may be moving house, but I'm so happy I have my own space with my birds now!! I'm really worried about the galvanized wire... why do they make zinc-coated wire just for you to have to scrub it all off and stress about your birds getting zinc poisoning!?😫 it was the only thing I had access to and I've scrubbed it with white vinegar and a metal scourer and wire brush several times and left it to weather but I'm so worried there's still zinc there...😬
Anyways, I'm planning on having a 1.3m long java ladder hanging across the ceiling with toys hanging from it, I'm also going to make a tree playstand and a training perch!! This is for two budgies and possibly a cockatiel!🥰

I took some ideas from your original video on this room. I made a "bird space" above/ around their cages. I did the rope as well as hanging large hoops with branches between them, all from the ceiling. They love it! I also wall mounted storage basket & put neat decorative boxes under their cages for storage. I found big mason jars for food & treats. Thank you for all the great ideas.
One question... how often do you clean the water fountain?

Question if your faucet in your bathroom was made from an unsafe metal and they touched it with their beak could it kill them? My budgies passed away a couple months ago out of nowhere. The only thing that was different was a couple days prior I tried to let them bathe in my sink and both birds grabbed the faucet to stabilize them selves. Or could possibly cleaner residue do it? Since you don’t really wash off your faucet after cleaning it.

Hi everyone! I could really use your help on a problem I have with my bird, because I have no idea to fix this D:
(it's not medical don't worry!) it's kind of a long story But I promise it all has to do with the question.
so I got my bird Echo (Kakariki) on the 12th of December, and I told myself to use all the information I got from research to not make those beginner bird owner mistakes, but that didn't work out well. A little extra information: I'm 14 turning 15 in January and Echo was An early birthday present because when I saw him for sale I immediately fell in love. (though only Echo was the present, I had to buy the cage, perches, toys and food myself)
after leaving him in his cage for 2 days to get used (I know it's a really short time and I deeply regret not letting him get used to my room longer!) I let him out to fly because I wanted him to be able to spread his wings. However, since Echo is really young and actually didn't have toys where I got him from (He was in a cage with 4 dowel perches and his brother and sisters D:) I wanted to take on the rule I got from BirdTricks: 20 minutes outside of the cage is an hour inside of the cage. so he could learn to play with his toys.
It went pretty well the first two days, but the third day I decided to keep him out for longer Because he wasn't really attached to me so I didn't see harm in letting him stretch his wings for longer (my cage is an appropriate size, he is able to easy fly from perch to perch and that's how he gets his exercise now, more on that later, but it's still on the small side because everything bigger would suddenly have a price gap of 200 Euro's or the bar spacing would be to big)
That was my first mistake: I didn't pay attention to the time and before I knew he was out for an hour and a half, even worse, he suddenly got REALLY attached to me. I mean like sitting on my shoulder, and SCREAMING whenever I would leave the room, even though kakariki's are known for being really quiet. so when I put him back in his cage he would start walking in circles on the floor of his cage, like really fast and excited, and scream to get out again.
from that day on he never wanted to go back into his cage, any attempt to train him failed because he wont sit in one spot for longer than 2 minutes, unless he is constantly fed. And he didn't seem to catch on to clicker training either, He has a hard time associating the click with food, because he only reacts when he sees the millet. And het doesn't go back to relaxed body language after getting the millet, he just stays bend over expecting more.
because of this I had to lure him back into his cage with treats, which made our already weak bond even weaker. He is an extremely social bird, he took to my three brothers and my mom really quickly, even my dad, who isn't really a big fan of pets (don't get me wrong he doesn't hate them, he just doesn't Love them as much as cats) he always liked them more, because whenever they were around he would get more treats because I would lure him on their hands and stuff. He likes them A LOT more than me.
anyway, I kinda trained him to step up, though it wasn't really trained, I still had to "lure" him, he had to see the millet before actually stepping up. but because I had to put him back in his cage every time he didn't like doing it whenever I was close to the cage because he knew that meant going back in. (smartest thing he does at this point XD) This resulted in me having to lure him on my hand with a sunflower seed (he rarely gets those because I want them to be special) and when he grabbed it with his beak I held on to the seed until I had taken him into the cage.
anyway now that you know the situation, 4 days ago while being out of the cage I was doing something on my laptop (I don't want to focus all my attention on Echo when he's out, because I don't want him to get like really attached to me (I mean I want him to like me, don't get me wrong, but I don't want him to get attached in the way of separation anxiety, like he already had. I didn't want to make it worse) he kept flying on my head, which I thought was really cute. But I later realized he pooped on my head, so I didn't want him to sit there anymore. So every time he would land on my had I kinda moved my head so he would fly off. this made him dislike me even more.
then, 3 days ago, he was out again and he wanted to land on the side of my bed, but he failed the landing, and slid of, falling behind my bed. He got stuck there because the space was too narrow to flap his wings. I immediately ran to him and tried to help him out, but of course he didn't trust me enough, and only got scared more. eventually he walked around and got out somewhere else. but his trust for me was SHATTERED. he would fly away from me because he was scared of my hand and I had to get my mom to get him into the cage.
I decided to "reset", I wanted to start from the beginning and build up his trust before letting him out. well it's been 3 days now, and progress is really slow, he is okay with standing on my hand for a little when I have a treat on there, but most of the time he just jumps to a perch as soon as he has grabbed the treat. I now have a Birdie hat, that I will wear when he is out so he can sit on my head. however, I haven't let him out of his cage since the incident, and my mom is really pushing me to let him out, and she will put him back in his cage so he will dislike her instead of me. I feel like him being able to fly around could definitely help our bond, but I also want to strengthen the bond in his cage first.
so, my question is, what should I do? I'm really thorn, because it has been 3 days since he last got out of his cage and he is really loud (he was already loud before the incident) and he still likes my brothers over me, when my twin brother comes Echo gets all excited and when he puts his face against the cage Echo will come up to him. meanwhile he is still not trusting of my hand or face. So I try to keep my brothers away from him. I mean to be honest I feel kinda jealous. but on the other hand I just feel sad, I really want him to be able to get out of his cage, and for us to really get a strong bond. at this point I just feel like a bad bird owner and it's really getting me down. D:
I would really appreciate if someone could give me advice on what to do, and I just wanna say thank you if you took the time out of your day to read this, and also, happy new year!
