Thank you so much! This is the first actual nice painting I have done so far. I wish I could show you! Thank you ever so much, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with how it turned out and what that has done for my soul. Thank you. Truly.
Thank you for your easy to follow paintings. I am doing some thank you cards and I did 2 of these little guys. Not as good as yours but I’m learning. I so appreciate it.
I can’t believe you did all that with a half inch brush, especially when you went into the eye. I would have broken out my small detail brushes for sure. Great job.
As I have said a gazillion times...I love your style...and the fact that you have done this amazing painting with a flat brush, just amazes this beginner..thank you for sharing your talent
I loved this video, as an aspiring watercolorist. Also, the chickadee is my favorite, as my (then young) children and I would feed them from our hands. They were cheeky little things. Thank you so much.
OH YES PLEASE!!!! I have three now framed and on display! My kids and grandchildren think I am talented.....I of course give YOU all the credit! I would LOVE to add another bird to my collection. I was wondering, why didn't you do a splash of color on the Wren painting in the background?
I really enjoy how nice a simple ink drawing and wash turns out! On this particular painting , I cant help but see the brown background looking like a bird, riding backwards on the chickadees back. lol
Nice one Peter. Davy's Grey is a bold move indeed. I have never tried it because I think it has white in it, but you used it in such a way that was very transparent. Always a pleasure to watch you. Your confidence shows indeed.
+Adam Wallen . Thanks Adam. I rarely use this pigment straight and when using it I usually mix it with each colour used. Just something I do sometimes.
Hello Peter. I just found you last Friday on RUclips and I can't stop watching your videos! I love them and love line & wash! This is exactly what I've been looking for. Can we try and paint your demo paintings? I'm asking because I know you sell them. Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you very much. Hearing that makes this all worthwhile for me. Yes you can paint them. Feel free to post your completed work wherever you wish. Any credit or mention is always appreciated. :) Peter
Thank you so much for all your great videos. I was always a little wary of watercolours. Nothing came out right. That was before I found your channel. You are truly an amazing artist and a great teacher. Please keep these videos coming. Would love to see more bird videos too!! Warmest regards, Sarika
Wonderful work. Thank you for sharing. I 'listen with my eyes', try and learn ... by the way, a interesting brush. It seems in a special way very sharp for little lines. For me as a beginning it is very helpful to read your list of materials.
@@PeterSheelerart It is so nice to watch your videos. 🎨🐀When I paint I get a bit exited. I assume it's got something to do with things that has happend recently in my life. If I'm sad, I get frustrated, then the coordination with the hand and mind stumbles... 😪 On the other hand - painting and drawing relieves stress. Maybe art gives a satisfaction that comes from doing with your hands... 🙂💛
+Peter Sheeler so true. Same reason I ended up having m palette on the top. I guess it's hard for you trying to fit the painting plus palette in the camera.
Peter, I just subscribed a few days ago and really enjoy watching your videos, especially the birds and weathered buildings. Would it be possible for you to show your reference image so we can get a better understanding of your process as it relates to the reference? Thank you so much for sharing your work!
Thank you so much. Very glad to have you as a new subscriber. I will usually include the reference if I use one. I've painted chickadees so many times I do not need one for this little guy.
As a beginner, I just found your channel and love your style! You obviously prefer using cake paint over tube paint? Can I just squeeze my tube paint into the corners of my palette and let it harden and use it the way you use the cake paint?
I love your vids. But I would like to ask you to put up your reference pic in a small box on the top corner (or lower corner) just so we can see what you are seeing as you paint it. thanks,
+Harold Scott . Thanks Harold.. There's really no reference for this. I'll look at several photos and make up my own image. I rarely draw what I see. I tend to draw what I may have seen. If I use a reference photo, I prefer to look at it on my phone screen, nothing bigger. I'm not looking for a scene to paint, I'm looking for an idea to paint. Once I begin drawing I'll go for several minutes before I check the reference. Sometimes, once I've stared, I never refer to the reference again. I don't have the ability to overlay a photo on my videos. Peter
For such a little guy, he has attitude! Love to watch you draw and paint birds!
Thank you Peter, I have been watching you for a long time and love 💘 your work. You inspire me to have a go at painting.
3 of my favorites! Chickadees, watercolor, and watching the ease and confidence with which you paint! Beautiful! Thank you!
Fantastic!! More birds please Peter, you are such an inspiration, because of you I'm now doing line and wash
+Angela Taylor . Thank you Angela. Very nice to hear that. More birds coming. :)
Thank you so much! This is the first actual nice painting I have done so far. I wish I could show you! Thank you ever so much, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am with how it turned out and what that has done for my soul. Thank you. Truly.
It was so peaceful to watch it ... thank you Peter 😊🙏
really enjoy watching a fearless painter at work
Fearless he is!
Thanks 🎨 from ✨Bethlehem PA. I’m following all your tutorials. 🥰😻🎨👍
Thank you for your easy to follow paintings. I am doing some thank you cards and I did 2 of these little guys. Not as good as yours but I’m learning. I so appreciate it.
Thank you for doing this little black capped Chickadee, they are my favorite too! The colors you used are perfect... Thanks.
+Isa Lawton . Thank you Isa. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy painting birds. Peter
So confidently done, wish i could do this. Chickadees are my favorite 🎨🐦
I can’t believe you did all that with a half inch brush, especially when you went into the eye. I would have broken out my small detail brushes for sure. Great job.
Very nice! Beautiful painting and demonstration!
As I have said a gazillion times...I love your style...and the fact that you have done this amazing painting with a flat brush, just amazes this beginner..thank you for sharing your talent
You are most welcome Margo. Thank you for watching :)
Your painting of the bird is wonderful and your backgrounds are fabulous they make the painting
I loved this video, as an aspiring watercolorist. Also, the chickadee is my favorite, as my (then young) children and I would feed them from our hands. They were cheeky little things. Thank you so much.
Thanks Joan. I've fed them by hand as well. They are bold.
Another great lesson, Peter. I did the bird completely free hand and it looks great. Thank you.
Amazing AGAIN! And now I can frame a chickadee to hang beside my hummingbird! LOVE your art and you are so easy to follow!!!
Thank you Barbara. Great to hear. I think it's time I did another bird demonstration :)
OH YES PLEASE!!!! I have three now framed and on display! My kids and grandchildren think I am talented.....I of course give YOU all the credit! I would LOVE to add another bird to my collection. I was wondering, why didn't you do a splash of color on the Wren painting in the background?

LOL. Thanks Terry. I see it now.
I never dared to paint a bird (just did landscapes). But now I have a cute chikadee of my own. Thank you for the tutorial!
Great to hear Domesticus :)
You make it look easy - but your sketching is very skilled.
One of your best art work! Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely little bird! I can learn a lot from this.
+Petka Anita Bielert . Glad to hear that Petka. Thanks, Peter

You are very welcome. Appreciate you're watching :)
Wonderful and unique. I’m a Brit living in Canada that worked in the USA. Is there any chance you could paint a British Robin.
Love your talent and thank you for sharing it!
You are most welcome. Thank you for watching :)
Really enjoyed seeing how you used fuschia for the sheen.
+Rebecca Page . Thanks Rebecca. Very glad you enjoyed it :)
Simply beautiful
Thank you Meena!

Your bird paintings are fantastic. You must have such a steady hand to be able to use that 1/2" flat brush for such small areas. Amazing.
Thanks Mary. Actually, I'm quite shaky :)
Muchas gracias por enseñar y compartir tus técnicas! Hermoso!
Amazing watercolor work! 👍
Thanks so much! Greatly appreciated.

Very cute little birdy. Looks like you have a couple set palette, one for landscape this one for more colourful things?
+Weiran Yang . Hi Wieran. Same palette. I've just added a couple colours and switched it to the other side :)
+Peter Sheeler lol that "switch" was what confuses me
+Weiran Yang . Had to switch it. I kept getting my hand in wet paint on the right side ;)
+Peter Sheeler so true. Same reason I ended up having m palette on the top. I guess it's hard for you trying to fit the painting plus palette in the camera.

I should do more birds. I do have an item listed currently. Better check my link
Amazing
I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d love to see the reference pic... ?
a sinple masterpiece
+Damià Pou . Thank you very much Damià.
Peter have you got a reference you are using? Love your work ❤️❤️
Hi Moragh. Mostly from memory, but I will look at several photos before I start.
Peter Sheeler impressive. I must practice more drawing clearly.. Have you seen any of my work on face book ArtbyMogs
I did two of your tutorials and I love it! The results were amazing. Thank you
Thank you very much. That is what I like to hear :)
