It's because of how hiragana works in Japanese. They have a letter for a, i, u, e, o, and then one for ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, then na, ni, nu, ne, no, and so on. The animalese generator maps letters or "syllables" (a consonant and then a vowel) as hirigana sounds. Welcome back -> U e ru ko me ba ku (i am not sure if it would recognise "ck" as one consonant though)
This format has so much potential dude! You bring the best of both main types of coding/general education channels. You are thorough enough while explaining what's going on, while also being engaging and entertaining without being too loud or getting sidetracked. Good shit.
the equalo pitched quote i could understand *ALL* of what he said sometimes acnh makes the animalese on the characters quite not understanding sometimes *nice video btw.*
I'm currently Working on a Uni project for animation and we needed dialogue sounds for our characters, and was wondering if we could use this to generate the sounds? Either way, awesome work, this is really neat!
I think this could be fairly powerful if you record all of the sounds in English, then tie them to as many basic structure rules as are needed to handle 90% of the words in the english language. There will still be some oddities, but you can always add exceptions by just defining the entire word syllable by syllable if the base rules make it sound too silly. Okay, so obviously this approach is patented by Nintendo, so even if you do recreate it or improve it, they'll be coming for you if you use it in anything. So, new plan, aesthetically driven sound design. Since we can't reproduce the sound this specific way, I think instead I should recreate the syllables using non-human noises, then stitch like so, because that's obviously the easiest implementation.
its VERY complicated to get this working, please try and implement this into another coding language with different, and easier to use programs, ffmpeg or libav are just too complicated to get working, please consider converting this into a website or something, or try and give more explanation on how to get this working properly
Hi, I'm having some trouble installing this. I'm getting an error on line 34, but python wont tell me what the error is, it only says 34 on the command line then back to the C prompt. Could anyone please help? I'm running Python 3.6, and trying to integrate it into OBS Studio. Thanks.
sorry if this is a silly question, but I cannot get the program to work. I have installed the dependencies but every input in either python and the IDLE shell after running the script has a syntax error no matter what I do. again sorry for the beginner question, I don't do much with python but really want to learn!
You'll have to make sure Python 3 is installed. What you'll need to do for that depends on what your operating system is. I recommend watching some tutorials on installing Python on your computer and then on installing packages with pip. It might take a few minutes to get the hang of all that, but then all you'll need to do is install pydub with pip, and you'll be set to run it! Then you can open the program with Python Launcher and it'll work!
I don't know if you're still working on this, but what part of the code can I change if I don't want the pitch of the animalese to go up? (aside from the random factor)
Videos talking about or dissecting certain sound with background music are irritating. This is good stuff but can you drop the background music please?
Noted. I don’t usually work on audio projects that aren’t music, so I’m a little out of my element on this one. Hope you stick around for some future videos!

I don't think the English version of Animalese uses Japanese kana syllables
Thanks for doing this, I have never used Python before and was able to make animal voices in the blink of an eye
how
i followed all directions and got no where, ffmpeg or libav both wont start/work

Is there a tutorial on how to use this? I downloaded it, but kinda lost. The Readme file is a bit confusing too.

This video is amazing, its gonna make my academic project so much easier, without needing to find actors to record hundreds of lines of dialogue :D
Now plug it into FB and make messenger talk to you, when people type you messages.
Idk if that's how it works
Oh wow! You actually did it! This is great! Part of me wants to prerecord phrases and play them as I shop to make people laugh

How did you added the animal crossing captions in the video?
Also Amazing tool just tried it! Kudos
The video was edited with Final Cut Pro. It has a built in caption feature. And I’m glad you liked it!

thanks for sharing this!
How did you delay the loop through each letter so that it doesn't play them basically all at once? Basic for loops don't support wait functionality.
