@@brendanlynch3439 I've heard others say that too but I still think it is he's checking for alcohol. That was Liz's water bottle, and she'd been oblivious to the bad water complaint. That's a possibility. The episode made it seem like Liz doesn't drink much, maybe she used to drink too much? It's also interesting that she's not concerned with driving drunk considering it was hinted that drunk driving was involved in Jake and Holden's deaths.

Respectfully, I think the point that’s being missed is this is essentially an outpost in the furthest reaches of an otherwise unregulated, uncontrolled, undersupervised, resource-dependent community at the whim of its corporate provider. Do enough research and understand the power that mining companies have over their land is pretty much absolute. (And yes, patrolled by the coast guard)
I grew up in rural America. Cops are human and loyal to their friends, their immediate family, and whomever is paying.
Checking into a “facility” near this town ain’t the same as checking in anywhere else. Ive read a lot of reviews about how “in America this could never happen” and it only deepens my conviction that, 1. People don’t truly understand the country they live in, and 2. People think the rules are the same regardless of where you are.
Not to mention the colonizing factor, or fun fact: you can fit 4 California’s into Alaska.

I played a lot of football and I believe what he was doing with her hand was relocating a dislocated finger or thumb. It is typical to distract the patient so they don't tense up and resist the painful tug. I never noticed him be anything more than supportive given the poor treatment he gets in return I'm surprised he's still hopeful. Feigning kneeling to propose was a comical distraction I found and good bed side manner on his part. I'm holding out for him as a landing place for her when the smoke settles. I thought the sniffing the water bottle was either him going "Is this water or alcohol?" or checking to see if the water wasn't really old and stale. I thought the whole thing was a little power play, like condescendingly tidying her office and watering her plant because he thinks she's a mess and can't take care of himself. It was weird to have a potted plant in an office in Alaska, where it wouldn't be able to survive without central heating, so it'd made sense that it was shriveled and dry due to neglect.

At a voluntary mental health facility, you can’t just walk out once you’re admitted. It’s a HUGE liability to the facility. There’s a whole discharge process.
They didn’t need to include the mental health place at all. When she calls her cop sister, just tell her then that she’s ending it all (instead of cop sister coming to meet her). That way, it makes sense that she would be found. Cop races to stop her but she’s too late, and then searches the area and finds her body.
As it stands, how did the coast guard ID her and call her sister? She was naked. She’s a Jane Doe. How did they even find her within hours in the first place in pitch black arctic waters?

I still like the show very much but I'm also starting to worry that 6 episodes won't be enough. The first two were spectacular imho, but then 3-4 were just ''good''. Not bad by any means, because this season is still better than a lot of crap on streaming these days, but I think they went a bit too much with the mystery box route so far and with only 6 episodes, I'm not sure how they will wrap everything in a cohesive manner that won't feel rushed. Unless the last two are like 1h15 each or something. My guess is that, like in season 1 when Rust saw space in the shed, 99% of the mysteries will be grounded in reality and 1% will still be left opened to interpretation.

In case this turns out to be true:: SPOILERS AHEAD::
I found a theory on reddit which I basically think is the real deal and possibly can ruin the ending for you but here it goes: The killer is the goddess SEDNA, who in turn is actually one of Evangeline's personalities, This is why only she is seen interacting with Rose, with "ghosts" and other stuff. The overall crazy stuff people see and do has more to do with the pollution of the mine or even some virus or bacteria Tsalal found in the ice, but the TRUE KILLER is Navarro, this is also why all "ghosts" point to her (SEDNA)

Navarro may have mental health issues that are slow in emerging. But, last episode, she slips on the ice & hits her, then hallucinates. This episode, she gets the sh*t kicked out of her, including some punches to her head. She may have a concussion or something. Of course, it’s a murder mystery, which means ANYONE can be the murderer and maybe have two things going on at the same time. I hope Navarro is not the killer, but she MAY have killed her mother to protect herself & baby girl. Now, that guilt is truly messing with her.

One person we don't know too much about is Adam Bryce. He definitely seems like a guy who knows a thing or two about more than geology....
If you look at the scene in Part 2 where he points to the whiteboard you can see the spiral represented as Earths core structure.

    -Orange
    -Black
-Blue (black can be seen as a barrier from Orange to Blue)
Also, it clearly looks like "Yellow" is inside Adam Bryce's mind with INNER pointing directly to his temple. And he's wearing an orange sweater.
In Part 4, he's wearing a blue sweater - indicating two sides of him. We have only seen these two sides. Another weird part is him bumping his head in the ceiling light.. if he sits there all the time why not move the desk so he doesn't have to hit his head everytime he gets up?
