Steve, while you may not work in a "professional" setting. You are in every sense of the word a professional wood worker. I'm subscribed! You have a very meticulous way about you and are able to articulate every step by the numbers, thank you sir. Keep it up!
Hi Steve. I remember watching this a few years ago and I loved how it turned out. I was thinking I would make a chess board myself. But then I saw how much sanding and prepping it took... "OMG, way too much sanding for me!" Now that a few years has gone by and I have a lot more building under my belt I re-watched this video and found that it didn't seem like all that much sanding. It's amazing how much this video has changed. Lol
@andersonec1 I've had pretty good luck with the Jasco filler. I don't think it affects the overall color. It looks scary when you first put it on, though.
Hey Steve I can't find the other videos for the chest board I can only see part 5 to 7,Ive got to say your work is fantastic it's a pleasure to watch, how long have you been into woodwork?
Would you by any chance do a video or send me a list through inbox of all the power tools and measurement tools you use in your shop? It seems I won't be content until I have all the general needs for woodworking.
Steve, Does the Jasco 'natural' grain filler colour the pores of the walnut? it seems very yellow and as I cannot find a clear filler I have experimented with a natural filler but the pores in the walnut are left with a very light colour, does this effect the overall finished colour of the walnut?
Hey Steve- I'm using bloodwood and wenge for my chessboard. Do you think I need to carry out the wood filler step with these woods? They're denser than walnut, but not sure about the grain structure..
Thanks! I'm finally at this stage. I couldn't find the JASCO wood paste you used, but I assume any grain filler (not wood filler) will be fine. I'll send you a post after I'm done! Thank you so much for your tutorials!
I like what you did.but I will not put an thumpup for it....why? Because such a talented handyman like you don't need such a stupid THUMB UP to support you if RUclips is dump to recognize it .this just a shame ... excellent job thanks for showing that.

Holy smokes! The oldest one of your videos I had ever seen was only about 5 years old! It feels almost illegal seeing this. You looked so different!
Nice!!!
Curious, how did you secure the top to the drawer base?
isn't mineral spirits a type pf paint thinner?
Hello, can you tell me what wood you used for the white and black houses?
so what did he sand up to what sandpaper did you use to finish sanding the top and sides before you used tack clothes

PS.… Would sanding sealer take the place of your wood filler in this chapter? Thanks.
I looked for the Jasco Wood Filler, but couldn't find it. Is there an equivalent product out there now?

+tdatt001 definitely, Wenge has a very odd grain structure so you will need to fill it

+Hugo Vazquez I dont think he has a wood lathe
A saw can be enough.

@manfredvonferny Burlap.
what is napha/mineral spirit? 1:20
how much for the board?
Blue Rondo A La Turk!! :DDDDDDDDD
so the only thing holding it together is glue? thats ok?
Titebond wood glue is stronger than the wood once it dries.
Who knew that peanut butter on your wood would fill the pores lol.
you did not have to do all that cleaning if you do the finishing right it would save you all that work of claning the shop
You cut your thumb.
This is the first and only time I've seen you use wood filler in your projects ... what gives?
