I run a vertical folded , diamond dipole, best antenna ever on 11m band, 1.2m wide, 5.5 m tall, low, low, noise, excellent send and receive. Best antenna I have ever used. Bests, my quads,moxons,j-pole, 1/2 wave gp, 1/4 wave gp, highly recommended. Perfectly omni, 5 degree takeoff angle. The best one yet.
I wonder if anyone has tracked global HF noise floors over the years. I am experiencing a very high noise floor in the midst of a large urban environment. I have tried to track this down. It appears to enter via the antenna and is less on bands in which there is no propagations suggesting that it is either propagated in over a long disbalance or perhaps is coming in fairly locally as some form of vertical incidence propagation.
I have a 14 by 8 loop with a 9 to 1 balun along with a 28 dB preamp. I built it because of the noise level in town. I am moving to the country side dreaming of a lot less noise.
Awful conditions.. worst I have seen in more than 62 years of listening to radios..normally I suffer in silence, but today i am gonna allow myself this one brief rant..I'm sick of this crap...what i really fear is a Maunder minimum..if that is the case, i have seen the best conditions on the radio that I will ever see again...
@@stangibilisco nor do i..I certainly don't predict a Maunder minimum..I certainly hope there will not be another MM Stan..but just because I hope it won't occur doesn't mean that it won't..it has happened before, so there is a precedent..I can say only this definitely, I, myself, have never seen conditions so poor, nor am I aware of such a duration of no sunspots..(I may be wrong here, in that I have never observed such a string of no sunspots because I did not study it specifically) Whatever happens will happen and I will adjust😏 My only observation is that propagation has been most peculiar for the past few years..
@Greg White --true Greg--i merely note that regional and local communication isn't up to it's normal level--i'm no expert, not do i want to be---i was merely referring to a long string of 'no sunspots' and what i consider poor conditions--but that's just me--DX is not for me a major goal--i prefer copying local ragchews on CW-- oh, i forgot--your comment on ineffecient stations is absolutely correct--i live in a nursing home and have no way (absolutely no way) of improving my setup--the antenna is a laugh, but it has worked better in the past--an 8X11 room is my world, except for the radio
Thanks for making easy for students like us 🇺🇸😊

Your best video ever, Stan! You see, what I like best about you is that you are kind of philosopher.
Thanks for the kind words. 73 de Stan W1GV.

Great video. Did you find your mic?
Noooo. Didn't even look for it. 73 de Stan W1GV.
@@stangibilisco Stan are you familiar with the SKCC they are a fun group that I enjoy. Google them and take a look. WA4DD

Some of the worst hash is generated by poorly-designed inverters attached to solar generators.

Some people think there will be another Maunder minimum. I don't know what gives them that idea. 73 de Stan W1GV.
