Political organizer, pilot, and the possible reincarnation of a comedy legend. Krist Novoselic has certainly kept busy since his days playing bass for Nirvana.
I was just about to say “That’s really a shame it didn’t happen, as Krist missed out on a ton of money”. Then I realized that Nirvana was so big, that Krist is still worth 80 million 😅
I got to shake Krist's hand when he ran for City Council. He's a really nice guy. Definitely has left his grunge days behind. You wouldn't even recognize him if you passed him on the street. He just looks like a middle aged white guy from Lakewood.
Krist has been part of some pretty cool bands since as well. Look up "Giants in Trees" or "3rd Secret" (featuring members of Soundgarden) if ya don't know already.
Kurt was the band. Foo Fighters had a lot of fun songs, but Kurt made them something special. To this day, I still refer to Nirvana as my generation's The Beatles. When Kurt died, it really damaged a lot of people who needed him to speak and be their voice. It was a formative event for many. I will never forget the way the teens in my school responded to news of his death... School authorities caught wind of our plan to wear black armbands and walk out of class at a predetermined time for a funeral service on the front lawn. They warned that they would punish us if we did it. I don't think they understood that telling us that galvanized us. So many kids ended up participating that they realized it would be in the local news if they suspended us all. In the aftermath, it was explained to them that, for us, it was like the day Lennon was shot had hit them. When they realized that, it ended their upset.
Kirst was always the most mysterious of the 3 always wanted to know more about him from what I've seen he is an interesting character hope he is still doing well Nirvana was a huge part of my childhood
Does this mean that Dave and Krist in a band looks too much like Nirvana and puts too much pressure on the other bandmates to fill the role of Kurt?
Sunny day real estate bassist is amazing. Those are some talented people in that band
Pat Smear wasn't just Nirvana's "occasional guitarist". He's a punk rock legend from long before that. That's how they knew who he was and wanted him.
I heard that Krist said no because he didn't want to put the pressure of 'being the new Nirvana' on Dave Grohl.

Pat Smear wasn’t the “occasional” second guitarist - he was the second guitarist, period. He just joined late 💙
I had the privilege of seeing Krist play bass for the Foo Fighters, for a couple song's, at the 1st concert I ever went to! Freaking awesome show.
Grohl was greatest thing about Nirvana tho Kurt gets all the credit.
I'd be surprised if Krist would have wanted to be in Foo. He, like Kurt, seemed very averse to that slick, slightly corny sound.

Krist's bass on Wasted light is my favorite part. Grungy, real and beautifully crushing.
Smear wasn't their "occasional" guitar player. He was their live guitar player to back Kurt, making the sound more full.
man, those clips of kurt from the early days before color television, so nostalgic
LOVE the Buck Owen's guitar!! Got mine with Green Stamps!!

Honestly there's no way i could picture the Foo's without Nate

Oh yeah, that classic band Sunny Day Real Estate. I love all their albums. Found one at a garage sale, guy just gave it to me.
That’s not true, pat smear was officially the fourth nirvana member when he came on his first appearance with then on tv
