I am so fortunate that Salamat Khansaheb and his sons sang at our home in Mumbai v(1983) in celebration of my wedding. What a wonderful and memorable performance. I should find those recording cassettes and digitize them to post on the you tube.

The background singer is Ustad Nazakat Ali, what a Sur and what a voice it was. Ustad salamat Ali was never the same without his brother singing alongside him. Upon listening alot of the duo, realized that many times Ustad nazakat gave a certain sur and ustad salamat was the one who elaborated it and played with it coz he was certainly more talented. May Lord bless these brothers.

I had opportunity to meet Ustaad Freed Ayaz and played this for him in my car. He mentioned that Ustaad Salamat sang 49 notes at 8:28. In an octave there are only 7 notes, 12 if you count half steps.

Tansen is a real founder of music as well as a symbolic epitome of music. What sir Arun Chandre meant in his comment is that this is the highest rendition that humans could deliver in dhurpad tradition of music founded by Tansen. That’s why Ustad Salamat Ali Khan was titled Tansen of our times by his fans.
Tahir Rizwan Tansen didn’t establish dhrupad style of singing.dhrupad is ancient Vedic style of singing . Tansen developed khyal style of singing . He was court singer of Akbar (one of his navratnas) and was around four centuries ago.
So grateful, and lost for words. Blessed are the parents that brought such superhuman genius maestro brothers into the world AND their Ustads that guided & inspired. I'm in awe of Salamat Sahib's grace, humility and reverence, even holding others above himself -- but that's only possible if Allah Vaheguru has gifted one with such artistic & spiritual wealth which we hear in this -- our favourite voice that heals us and helps open the doors to our sachai truth, insaniat humanity, ekta equality and prem love. after listening to all english rock bands out there, all jazz, pop and hindi/ punjabi songs - this is the song that have brought tears to my eyes. cant even compare classical raag, thumri, khayal, bandish, qawaali to any other form - amazing. never going back to anything else.
It was during year 1945 or so that as a child I heard the two brothers at
Hari Valabh Mandlo in Shikarpur Sindh during the annual musical festival.
A movie 'Dassi" was running at a local cinema and one of its song "Ratein na rahein wo na rahey din wo hamarey ab tum hee batado ke jein kis ke saharey" was a hit.
Renedition of this song by would be future Ustads brought tears to many a eye and won great admiration from knowledgeable audience.
I feel specially privileged to recapture those pleasant moments of history of undivided India and share it now through contributions of Utube in service of the societies.

Do we ever going to witness this kind of singing in our entire life, may be impossible. Ton of thanks who recorded it perfectly.
