  • Abandoned overgrown 1920’s castle mansion in Canada. Explore #55
This abandoned castle mansion is pretty overgrown and hard to see. It didn't look that big until I seen inside and did a few drone shots. I was told this house and others in the area will be demolished for newer mansions. I'm not sure why as this house seams to be in great shape and looked newly renovated. It looks like this house had a lot of kids living here or it was a daycare. Pretty fancy daycare if it was. I tried looking up information on this mansion but only found out that it was built in the 1920’s. This house has been abandoned for approx. 2 years.

    About me:
I have been exploring abandoned places since I was a child and now I would like to film the explores and share the videos with you.
My father took me to my first abandoned house when I was 7 years old. I remember going into the house and a old farmer came in and told us "we better watch out as the floors are all rotten and unsafe". Ever since that day I was hooked on exploring abandoned places.
If you have a location you would like to share with me or want me to explore for you please send me an email at abandonedurbexcanada@hotmail.com and I will give you full credit for the share in the description and during the video if you choose.

Just the thought of that house being destroyed is insane! The architecture both inside and out was amazing and unique, and in great condition. People are never satisfied with the blessings they have, it has to be bigger, better, showier. WHY?

That's a Mezuzah from the Jewish religion. It's typically a affixed to entryway and inside is an inscription of the 'Shemah' ( a Jewish prayer).

Actually inside written usually on rice or parchment paper are two scriptures of the Bible so whomever enters thru the door the person is blessed with G-d’s promise of passover. Used to be affixed to the top of the exterior door post but today the Mezuzah boxes are so delicate and beautiful they get placed on the side of the door inside.

@@loridietz9154 its surprising usually the Mezuzah is the last thing people take when leaving the house for the very last time. These kinds of videos are meant to bring ideas into your head, varying from I wish I knew where it was at so I could get that Jagger painting, to reclaimers wanting to salvage everything from windows to the marble. As for the item you found on the wall, I believe that it is from the Jewish faith - a friend has one right inside his front door - or could be of the Catholic faith - couldn't see close enough (however, I could be wrong on both counts lol). It looks like a fairy tale house from the outside. So lovely. It’s a crime to demolish something like this to put up a McMansion that won’t be built 1/4 as well!
The religious symbol may be a mezuzah; however, they are usually put on the front door or immediately beside it-either interior or exterior, I think. Know this only because of a series of books I read, so not 100% sure.
Brent, I think you and I are stmpatico on houses and design! Just before you mentioned the windows, I was thinking, “look at the diamond-shaped windows.”

Don't worry - I just joined 1 vid ago and I won't leave you! I think this house almost makes me sadder than some older abandoned house as it is in pristine condition and not much would need to be done to it. The outside is gorgeous! Broke my heart to see the play kitchen in the upstairs bedroom. I have the feeling something happened and the family had to move. Can't believe how greedy some developers must be to demolish such a house. And you know they are also going to cut all the trees. The new houses are ugly, windows with no symmetry, and in 10 yrs will look old. Shame on them. Thank you for what you do for us.

Pockets of areas in the United States have Historic Preservation and the homes in these areas are (never) to be torn down and must be maintained to exact standards as when it was built. I live in an 1897 stone castle with all the bells and whistles, and I would never think to live anywhere else. Its not as large as this one, but it was designed more efficiently and has five bedrooms and one and 1/2 baths, towers, turrets and wrap around porch.

My issue is how MANY houses they cram into a little space, plus they all have HOAs. I live in Las Vegas, and if you want a house that's under $200k, isn't so close you can jab a neighbor's window with a broom handle, and not in an HoA, you need to buy a house that's at minimum 20 years old. Nevermind the fact they ARE so close together that all it would take is one grilling accident and the whole neighborhood could go up in flames by the time the fire department gets there... Because the roads are all dead ends. It's nothing but cul-de-sacs, so large vehicles also run the risk getting stuck or damaging cars or property to get out, so add in a fire...

It absolutely blows my mind and infuriated me that these houses are just bulldozed. Look how many beautiful pieces could be repurposed!!! Sad.

These people have so much money it doesn't matter to them. They'll rifle through one mansion, it becomes dated, knock it down, build another. Their kids inherit the family fortune, rinse, repeat.

Yes! Fixtures, doors, cabinets could at least be donated to organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

Spot on. Real estate developers are the Devil. Absolutely NO reason this house should be torn down. Sell it, and build around it.

There's a special place in hell reserved for the investors and developers responsible for destroying these homes.

That house is wonderful, why the hell destroy such a place? The lovely entrance, roof line and exterior has an English "Arts and Crafts" movement look to it, great quality. The interior is more French Chateau and really nice with those white cabinets. The panes of glass 2:53 are called leadlights and are beautiful. Also the staircase is really nice. The item at 5:21 is a Jewish Mezzuzah. Inside is a blessing for the house from the Bible verse Deuteronomy 6:4-9 saying "You shall love your God, believe only in him, Keep his commandments and teach your children". In order to be a Kosher Mezzuzah it has to be handwritten by a scribe in Hebrew and afixed to doorpost. It is considered to be protective of the household. Such a fine house in good condition really should be kept. Cheers, Brent, great explore.

I live in Hamilton Ontario and there are a couple of houses in my neighborhood similar to this. I live in the area of Hamilton that the show Handmaids Tale is or was filmed for its first couple seasons.

I LOVE THIS HOUSE!!! Especially the kitchen. My husband and I are in the process of renovating our kitchen and I would take the one in that house in a second! Bad thing is that our entire house would fit into that kitchen. When I'm not sewing on one of my many sewing machines, or watching your Great videos, I'm baking. I love to bake and THAT kitchen is my dream kitchen. Keep making videos for us because I love them!
Almost forgot........ My guess is that this house was built in about 1900 and added on to a few times.

I believe the house was built in 1920 during the Arts n Crafts period. The give-a-way is the 7:34 finial on the staircase typical 1920's era.
