Of all the abandoned mansions I've seen... this to me is the most fun and interesting ....that being with just the layout of the house itself without the pool and bowling alley etc.

That’s a beautiful Wurlitzer piano. I’d love to have that in my house. They’re not worth very much (maybe $1,000 to $5,000 when refurbished), but as a church pianist, I’ve always loved the tone of all the Wurlitzer models that I’ve played at different churches.
It feels oddly eerie going through the house -- frozen in time and frozen wishes/dreams along with it. The amenities inside this house is atypical of how the new millionaire builds their "ideal" house. It takes a good bit of financial acumen to manage and maintain a property this size and, if the original owner who built this did intend it for his children, most kids when they become adults would rather live with their OWN immediate family than have all the siblings & in-laws under one roof in compound. This house definitely confirms/affirms my feelings or thoughts of living in a mega mansion. Thanks for sharing.

It's not it still has a cleaning crew and lawn maintenance the indoor pool is clean covered and clorinated it's not in anyway abandoned, just not affordable ! No dust= not abandoned
It sucks that places like this to to waste when it could be used for youth or something. We have so many kids in group homes etc. Some that have had to be placed due to abuse . Can you imagine being able to live there? How much they have done a out. It can be inspiring to what hard work and believing your self can bring. Even for mentally and physically disabled. I have worked w youth and adults w disabilities and we tried to provide them w activities out side of horne and day hab Well here ya go. We could have used this for so many people. All that money and zero taste. Knew from the outside it was just a bunch square plans sewn together at different angles. No character at all to that place. It’s like if a teenager won the lottery.
From the beginning, the house looked like it was made of pressboard, no substance to it, like taking the details of a grand mansion and imitating them on a mobile home.
That floor warping isn't from water damage. That entire row popping up is caused by pressure on the floor from expansion and contraction. If you don't leave enough space in between the floor and wall as the floor boards expand they will hit the wall and force the weakest row to pop.
Wrong it's from no heat or ac. Floors aren't made to go extreme to extreme. I'm sure the carpenters who did that beautiful woodworking all through the house knew that you need to space shit.
Isn't that why laying the floor out to sit for awhile helps before you actually secure the floor? Doesn't that help the flooring expand first? Asking for a friend, lol

It's for sale. 2.3 Million is the asking price. The original owners have been trying to sell it since 2014. No one is buying it though because they won't lower the price below the millions. There are no listings for it anymore because of the condition its in. The owners gave up and walked.
@@NobodysAngel81 Makes sense. The article I read that said it was for sale was from October 2020. I couldn't find any sold listing. That said, I didn't know the address. I just typed in "Abandoned mansion, Andover MA" in a google search. Now that I know the address, I see on Zillow that it was sold on Christmas Eve, 2020. The original owners were trying to sell it for a long time. There's probably going to be a lot of fixing up needed. Hopefully it can be a beautiful home again.
@@sunlightangel87 The customer I picked up there was actually one of the people in charge of fixing up the place and that was in November/December 2018 or maybe Spring 2019. I think she was a real estate agent, but she was also fixing it up. I think she was a house flipper. When I picked her up there, it was a mess. Weeds were all over the driveway/garage etc. It needed a lot of work and the crew probably worked around the clock to make it sale worthy. I didn't really get a good look inside because there were security cameras. There is a security guard house at the beginning of the driveway. It's in such a weird spot. You go up this hill, and it's on the right. You can't see the house from the street because it's surrounded by so many trees. Andover is a rich town. Lots of mansions of all sizes.
I wish you would’ve looked around the theater room more and checked out the batting cage and pitching machine, outdoor putting green and two locker rooms.

Some history suggest that a wealthy software CEO was the original owner and sold it in I believe 2009 right after the housing bubble burst. That Samsung TV at the pool on the wall had the old logo font on it and a quick search tells me that the current font came in from 1993 onwards, so this place could be early to mid 90's potentially.

Some houses are outside only. They are very specific what they'll use and how. This place is versitle to shoot resident and public locations. Usually it's because their houses are so big that they don't even use a lot of the rooms so when furnishing them they prioritize looks over comfort because they're rarely ever going to use it anyways. Everyone thinks they want a huge house but in reality unless you have a huge family or throw parties all the time after a few months when the initial excitement wears off you start spending less and less time in those "bonus" rooms. Like wine cellars, of course I'd like to have one in my house but I know I'd rarely use it. It's basically just a cool looking closet for wine that costs as much as a used car. Although we don't like to admit it, people often buy things simply because they look cool, and in turn will make them look cool for owning it.

When I built my house people stole tile and doors and other projects I have been on, people would steal copper wire out of the walls. There has to be some security measures in this place; otherwise that slide would be in someone’s back yard. 🤣

Then another family bought it and got tied up in a legal dispute about what to do with it for a bit making people assume it was "abandoned" thus this kid and his friend trespassing. They added security while they figured their ish out. It's never been lived in. It was built by a tv show and used for several others. It was on the market for years with the price dropping from around $8mil to $2mil when it was finally taken off market and left to sit. There have been several "abandoned" videos done on this house and I took interest and dug deeper into the history. The listings can still be found online.
What a WASTE of money. I wouldn't live in a house so huge and UGLY. It feels the coldness, no home like feeling.. l would be happier in a simple 4 bed house and no basketball court, no movie theater, no on door pool, no water slide, none of those wasted spaces that has no feeling of a HOME to come home to. Our small church was looking to replace our 90 year old piano. The ones they looked at started in around $8000 and went up to around $17000, we couldn't afford either. Luckily we were able to get the old one fixed after being told it could not be fixed. And here you have one in an abandoned house wasting away, what a shame.
floors buckling can be caused by a greenhouse effect. when a house is closed up with no heat or air for long periods of time it can cause a green house effect. cool temps at night and warm temps in the day cause high humidity which can cause floors to expand and eventually buckle

That floor warping isn't from water damage. That entire row popping up is caused by pressure on the floor from expansion and contraction. If you don't leave enough space in between the floor and wall as the floor boards expand they will hit the wall and force the weakest row to pop.
Wrong it's from no heat or ac. Floors aren't made to go extreme to extreme. I'm sure the carpenters who did that beautiful woodworking all through the house knew that you need to space shit.

It's for sale. 2.3 Million is the asking price. The original owners have been trying to sell it since 2014. No one is buying it though because they won't lower the price below the millions. There are no listings for it anymore because of the condition its in. The owners gave up and walked.

I just typed in "Abandoned mansion, Andover MA" in a google search. Now that I know the address, I see on Zillow that it was sold on Christmas Eve, 2020.
The original owners were trying to sell it for a long time. There's probably going to be a lot of fixing up needed. Hopefully it can be a beautiful home again.

I think she was a real estate agent, but she was also fixing it up. I think she was a house flipper. When I picked her up there, it was a mess. Weeds were all over the driveway/garage etc. It needed a lot of work and the crew probably worked around the clock to make it sale worthy. I didn't really get a good look inside because there were security cameras. There is a security guard house at the beginning of the driveway. It's in such a weird spot. You go up this hill, and it's on the right. You can't see the house from the street because it's surrounded by so many trees. Andover is a rich town. Lots of mansions of all sizes.

Some houses are outside only. They are very specific what they'll use and how. This place is versitle to shoot resident and public locations. Usually it's because their houses are so big that they don't even use a lot of the rooms so when furnishing them they prioritize looks over comfort because they're rarely ever going to use it anyways. Everyone thinks they want a huge house but in reality unless you have a huge family or throw parties all the time after a few months when the initial excitement wears off you start spending less and less time in those "bonus" rooms. Like wine cellars, of course I'd like to have one in my house but I know I'd rarely use it. It's basically just a cool looking closet for wine that costs as much as a used car. Although we don't like to admit it, people often buy things simply because they look cool, and in turn will make them look cool for owning it.

Then another family bought it and got tied up in a legal dispute about what to do with it for a bit making people assume it was "abandoned" thus this kid and his friend trespassing.
They added security while they figured their ish out.
It's been restored since, their issues have been worked out, and it looks like it's about to enter the real estate world again after a few years.

It's never been lived in. It was built by a tv show and used for several others. It was on the market for years with the price dropping from around $8mil to $2mil when it was finally taken off market and left to sit. There have been several "abandoned" videos done on this house and I took interest and dug deeper into the history. The listings can still be found online.
What a WASTE of money. I wouldn't live in a house so huge and UGLY. It feels the coldness, no home like feeling.. l would be happier in a simple 4 bed house and no basketball court, no movie theater, no on door pool, no water slide, none of those wasted spaces that has no feeling of a HOME to come home to. People think that huge mansions, would make them happier, then they realize, that, it lacks the home feeling and they feel depressed and lonely. Our small church was looking to replace our 90 year old piano. The ones they looked at started in around $8000 and went up to around $17000, we couldn't afford either. Luckily we were able to get the old one fixed after being told it could not be fixed. And here you have one in an abandoned house wasting away, what a shame.
floors buckling can be caused by a greenhouse effect. when a house is closed up with no heat or air for long periods of time it can cause a green house effect. cool temps at night and warm temps in the day cause high humidity which can cause floors to expand and eventually buckle

That wasn't dust in the theater, that was mold. Humidity in an unconditioned house, has enough moisture for mold to grow on anything organic.
