When you talk about the Taycan's software [and you have been], and its foibles, you could be describing my ID.3. Another VW group car with, quite frankly, pretty lousy software. And laggy, limited software really doesn't cut it anymorre. I wouldn't be expecting Tesla-like sophistication, but maybe it could be as good as say... Hyundai/Kia? Here's one little bit of trivia. On my last roadtrip, quite a while back, where I'd had a software update, I noticed rapid and destination chargers popping up on thr map. Great! That was something I hadn't really noticed before. And then alongside my planned route, places of interest [POI] were popping up including... [wait for it]... petrol stations! Really VW Group? 😁
I'm not going to buy one of these cars until they get a CPU update or seriously refactor/redesign their infotainment. Poor software/infotainment is excusable in an ICE car when the driving experiences is extremely engaging (I'm thinking of iDrive when it was really bad...) but half the point of an EV is the software.
Seems a little odd that you still need to go to a dealer for software updates especially if the car has WiFi or 4G/5G. OTA updates aren't new and a massive automaker like VW Group/Porsche should really have that figured out by now. Won't even begin to wonder why they still bother with paper manuals.
