Forcing heterosexuality on herself probably caused much of her downward spiral into deeper drug addiction. Always covering up and denials to the media takes a toll on a person.
Her immersion in the church beliefs did not help either, she was doomed from the get go.

Funny thing about this. Robyn's book paints a different picture. Yes they were lovers very early on but according to Robyn that stopped before she became this huge star.
It is probably what caused her to turn to drugs, and ultimately her untimely death. Being in the closet, never being able to be who you are because you are afraid of people judging you. That it is a very dark, depressing place.
Whitney was doing drugs even before she met Robyn and she never stopped using it while Robyn was still around. We will never which demons she was running from!

Maybe Whitney wasn’t gay and had an experience with Robin that came to an end (as Robin stated herself) and simply remained friends with Robin. It was clear Whitney REALLY loved Bobby and even Robin wrote how Eddie Murphy broke Whitney’s heart. I don’t why so many people want to just jump to believing tue whole gay thing. Some people just have experiences and that’s it. It’s no secret Whitney didn’t have many friends and was bullied by other girls when she was growing up and then Robin (whom was two years older; notable difference at that age) comes into her life and just hangs on wanting more from Whitney. Again, a “gay” experience doesn’t make a person gay. Plus, have to remember that Robin is telling Robin’s story from Robin’s perspective. Also, too often people label people gay by association. Whitney even said herself, on camera, that Robin said to her, it’s either me or Bobby. To which Whitney said she said (on camera), “are you kidding? That’s my husband.” I believe Robin wanted their experience to be a relationship and held out hope that it would be that one day. She’s basically admitted that I’m so many words. This whole book thing reeks of Robin trying to validate her experience in Whitney’s life in a manner that makes her feel better about the whole situation. In my opinion, Robin has dishonored Whitney by breaking her trust…..in death, which is just awful in my opinion. If you read Robin’s book, based on her professional career, seems like Robin needed this book. I mean really…to go so far as to say, “we were intimate in every way…we didn’t hold anything back”....and on camera….and speaking this about a person that is now deceased! Like I said, sounds like a person trying to validate their experience, especially when everyone around Whitney seemed to push Robin away the entire time. It’s like “aha, now I have the last word.” If Whitney were gay, I believe there would be someone other woman that would’ve come forward to say she had a gay/sexual experience with Whitney…and that hasn’t happened. I’ll say it again, I think Robin and Whitney had an experience and a friendship that lasted well after Whitney ended their sexual interactions. Period. See this is why people get so screwed up about sexuality. People often make other people out to be something their just not. Robin has done what so many other people around Whitney did…sell her out one way or another. Damn woman can’t even rest In peace in death.
People, grow up. Rosie isn't disrespecting Whitney. She's being honest about something that everyone was dishonest about, as if Whitney being lez were something shameful to be hidden. Clive Davis encouraged Whitney to stay in the closet to protect his cash cow. So if you want to spew bile at anyone, spew it at the music industry that couldn't figure out how to let Whitney be herself. The pressure to stay in the closet no doubt contributed to her drug problem, her overdose, and the eventual overdose of her daughter.
she's bringing it up because the fact that Whitney Houston was bisexual and had female relationships is FINE, she had to hid eit at the time because of the time, it's good for us to know who she really was and that she was in a loving relationship with a woman as opposed to an abusive relationship with body. Why does Whitney Houston need to defend herself. There is nothing wrong with love. She loved a woman, she was afraid and obviously advised not to come out. She couldn’t be who she naturally was and turned to drugs to escape as so many people do. Rosie did nothing wrong. In fact she probably broke a lot of peoples stereotypes that gay women are overweight, shave their heads and wear no makeup.
Rosie O'Donnell wasn't in Whitney's circle. The first time Whitney ever interacted with her was in 1996 on her talk show. Whitney had been married for three years by that time. Their last public interaction was in 2000 when Rosie mocked Whitney at the Grammy award and Whitney was falsely accused of flicking her off in response. They were not friends. Regardless, Whitney's sexuality was her own personal business. Whitney didn't want to talk about it while she was alive and people should respect her privacy in death. This isn't Rosie O'Donnell's place at all.

That's not entirely fair. It's been confirmed by numerous people around her that she was in an open/on&off relationship with Robyn. However at that time, being gay wasn't accepted and in order for her to be Whitney Huston image we all know she had to play the part. I studied Whitney´s life for a long time, and yes she was madly in love with Bobby B and had an affair with Jermaine Jackson in 84, and dated Eddie Murphy in late eighties and had romances with men in between. NFL player Richie Cunningham in the mid 1980s. And she loved men. That doesn´t rule out that she also had and relationship to a woman. I do believe that Whitney loved PEOPLE more than the gender. She got to know Robyn Crawford in 1980 when she was 16 sixteen years old. Whitney was bullied in school for many years, and didn´t have many close friends. Robyn became her very close friend and was very loyal and protective towards Whitney. They moved together in a flat in Woodbrigde, New Jersey and live together. Well that doesen´t prove she was intimate with woman. BUT so many people close to her tell the story of a woman who had an close relationship With Robyn and they were more than friends. We all must listen to the people who were close to Whitney. Her Make-up artist and her hairdresser during 1999, her english bodyguard, her female bass background singer, Bobby Brown (seen in the new documentary "Whitney Can I Be Me"). But also search the internet for Vernal Scott author of "A London Memoir - Gods other Children" a Gay man and activist who invited Whitney and Robyn to London and Hyde Park for a speech in 1991. He said on a youtube video, that Whitney and Robyn came as a couple and presented them selves as a couple.
Well, so in my studies of her life, I believe Whitney was a woman who was very loving, kind and a woman who needed protection and loyalty. I do believe that Bobby Brown was the love of her life, and she wanted to live with him forever. But I do also believe that Robyn Crawford was the most loyale of loving friend for her, the one who kept her life together, together with close friends BB and CC Winans and got her back in times with all the drama with Bobby Brown. I believe Bobby Brown gave her a had lot of romance and acceptance of her life style, because he knew the life and demands of being a superstar. And he accepted her lifestyle with smooking weed(started in the 1980s) and doing cocaine in the late 1980s to cope with the presure and demands of being and superstar always in the media spotlight. She also had 3 miscarriges in 1992, 94 and 96. which was so hard on her. I believe she both loved men and women, but she stopped her relationship with Robyn Crawford in 1999-2000.

Finally someone came out and plainly said what has always been known. Whitney Houston was a gay women. Bobby knew it, Clive knew it. Cissy & Dionne knew it. Most everyone in the music industry, both secular and gospel knew it. She was someone who never felt she could honor her truest self and I believe her relationship with her mother was the main reason why. I think this is why she made so many horrible choices in her personal life & career.

I'm also gay and it doesn't make me angry. Whitney could never speak her truth and Robyn deserves some acknowledgement. People are inferring that Rosie is lying in the comment section but you know what you know and she knew. I remember in 2000 I had a very good looking friend that happened to meet Lance Bass at a AIDS benefit. They ended up hanging out after and Lance was gay. Lance wasn't out publically at that time but I knew for a long time he was gay and told people. Visibility is always important and I am one of those old school gays who believe in outing. The more visible we are, the less mystified we are. If every celebrity was outed tomorrow it would completely change the playing field.

Clive Davis is gay himself and was closeted for the longest time. He just recently came out himself in the last few years. So he and Whitney absolutely talked about her being gay. I'm sure of it. Just as Whitney new Clive was gay and was hiding it. They could relate to each other. It's unfortunate that Whitney wasn't allowed to be who she really was... gay, bi, whatever... FREE.
