These JD single barrel, barrel proofs are taken for granted. Amazing juice, higher proof, readily available. Definitely one of the best values in whiskey.

Prideful Goat 8 yr, Old Overholt 10 or OFSBBSR
I liked the prideful goat alot, but it is much more that herbal/spicy rye. Oo10 and ofssbbsr are both so hard to get, but I have to agree those are excellent as well.

I got a Jack daniels SBBP rye recently. 130.7 proof. For that high of a proof, it is easy drinking. Absolutely stellar pour. Tastes like mint chocolate brownies.

Great idea for a series and a great blind to boot. My JD SBBP Rye is 132 proof and would give Handy and Saz 18 a run for their money I think. Cheers buddy 🥃

The Hard Truth black label bourbon is great for me. I think it compares favorably to Buffalo Trace. Might work well in a BT alternative video!

I was slightly under the weather the other day and I had a small pour of the JDSBBP rye and it tasted like horseradish and I was ok with it. I like spice so I’m going to try it again and see. Enjoy!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with mentioning bottles from notes you get. It’s normal and human nature to say, “That must be the Jack” or whatever. I don’t even get the issue as you are labeling what you are sipping in the video, lol. I think it’s funny when you’re wrong too.

Any thoughts on which Whistle Pig Rye would hold up well in this blind? It seems to be widely available around my area as compared to the others. Thx!
I don't think they would, but I find I only like their very expensive stuff so it would be hard to recommend due to price and availability.

Handy is definitely a unicorn, but it’s the only BTAC bottle I’ve seen in person or had a chance to possibly purchase if I felt like shelling out the money. I also feel like the JDSBBP ryes are pretty limited in my area, I’ve seen them but stores will only have one or two at a time. One of these days I’ll pull the trigger on one. Cheers YDB! 🥃

I did something similar to this recently. I set out a bunch of hitter ryes. She picked a couple to go up against Handy.

I think you have to ask. If you know someone who orders liquor for a store, ask them to try. It seems to be available everywhere, and no one is putting it on shelves...

He nails every bottle guess when he does his own blinds, but swings and misses when he gets blinds sent to the channel. 🤔🤣
Yes, because there is a VERY big difference between a blind and a double blind. A blind, I know what is it and therefore know what to look for. When it could be anything? That changes everything.

Not only that, but you’re used to drinking them. When you haven’t had it or had it often, it’s hard to guess what it is.

People often think I am cheating as well, since I do well in blinds but struggle in double blinds. It is a completely different thing! The double blinds could be ANYTHING.

Hey there buddy, have you been able to try any of the Corbin Cash 1917 barrel proof Merced Rye, or any of the 8-9 year barrel proof Old Protrero 100% malted rye picks? I really think they would stack up in this tasting for sure. I pretty much only drink rye now and both of those beat the Driftless picks and JDSBBP rye bottles I own.
I have a good buddy that has sent me several samples of their stuff. I do DIG it. I have not tried the Old Protrero though and that sounds UP my alley. I love malted rye.
