I have the Pixel 8 Pro currently, despite not being a fan of large phones. But I really appreciate the bigger ultrawide and telephoto cameras. @BasMeijer yup I got a s23 ultra and while I'm happy with it the downside of repair and its durability is something I'm concerned about which makes me look at the pixels.
Very nice and clear review. You centered the point in this video, I recently switched from S23U to Pixel 8 Pro and I completely agree with you. I noticed exactly that! When turning in busier areas, but like I said only because I was looking for issues. And the 30FPS is consistent with what I get , not gonna be an issue for most users
New to your channel. Thanks for a relaxed easygoing review. Just bought the phone from GiffGaff in the UK on one of their reduction days. Got 256GB version for £750 which is £250 cheaper than the usual price. The phone performs great for me and have experienced none of the problems many have reported in the past. Photography wise it is really great
I have both the p7p and 23 ultra... Ive always loved the pixels. I gotta say, i always prefer my ultra. Something about this phone is just unbeatable I carry both all day one sim in each one. The ultra just feels so powerful
Maybe you have a faulty iPhone 15 Pro Max because I haven't experienced any "overheating" on mine. I don't play Genshin Impact but I do play Diablo Immortal, COD Mobile, I tried the Resident Evil Village Demo, along with various other less intense games. I even do point cloud LiDAR scans that contain upwards of 1GB of data (I'm a structural engineer so I use it for work sometimes alongside our Matterport LiDAR scanner) and it has run smooth and cool to the touch all the time. Just saying, you might have a defective unit if yours is getting super hot.
Anyone notice battery decline yet.I got mine as soon as it was released, got 7-8 hours consistently . I'm now getting 4 1/2 and I haven't made any use changes Only thing I've done differently is installed every update including the useless video update
Awesome video Alex. I really like the looks of the multi screen view and the quality of the photos. I didn’t realize the iPhone 15 Pro could reach temperatures of 120°F. Imagine that here in Florida where the temperature outside is always hot. I’m glad I haven’t purchased The 15. Becoming more impressed with the Google phones.😊👊
Thanks Don! Yes the recent iPhones do reach some crazy temps. I've been really impressed by the Pixel again this year, just think they may have priced themselves a bit higher than normal. I think that's changing already though with some really good deals in the US. Next week we have a new beast though in the S24 Ultr, can't wait to try that!!
I was thinking about upgrading from my S22ultra but seeing how the pixel 9 might be coming out this year I might wait a bit longer. But great review almost made me want to switch now haha.
Love your review. That said, I use a switch to play games. I would only play simple games on my phone. I use it mostly reading emails from work and pictures. I used a Samsung, I am fed up with the UI. They push Samsung pay and Bixby or whatever it is called. I am just ready to try a new phone.
Love this review video. Your content keeps getting better and better. I gotta say one thing tho, all us Samsung users have high expectations from Galaxy AI, but we gotta remember that Samsung will never be able to compete with Google in that aspect because the sheer amount of research and innovation that Google has been doing to compete at the top with Microsoft and Open Ai is just way above what Samsung can ever deliver. Samsung is a good hardware company and I love them for that but in terms of software and AI, their Galaxy AI model will definitely fall short of the competition.
thank you so very much! I have to agree, Samsung will do a great job but it will be a few years until it is matured. I like where we're going with smartphones though, finally being really 'smart' and the Pixel is a great example of it
I just purchased one and I have no regrets. The Pxel 8 Pro is a great all around phone. I also love the fsct this phone will be supported with software updates for years to come. I'm currently watching this video on my 8 Pro. Lol
I saw you had Lightroom Mobile installed on the P8Pro. When I tested it at launch, it struggled processing and exporting photos especially with some of the advanced editing features in LrM. Since the recent updates, has that improved at all. I currently use the Xperia 1 V with the snapdragon 8 gen 2 and it chews through LrM tasks.
My Pixel 8 Pro remains pleasant but mine has since the beginning slowed down and stuttered when scrolling in certain places like Twitter, Google discover, Playstore, Google Weather app and so on. In other places it's fluid.I don't see this with my Xiaomi 13 Ultra for example...weird! For most reviewers there are only 3 phones: Apple Samsung and Google...There are, however, other flagships with plenty of power, interesting interfaces and 1-inch photo sensors 😉
@@AlexGTech yes it's not pleasant these lags here and there but apparently and fortunately not everyone has this problem with their Pixel 8 Pro. the updates haven't changed anything for me...and I'm still waiting for "zoom enhance" which was supposed to arrive in December. cool for possible reviews of other flagships! 😃
Great video as always. I noticed that you even made it into the news😲!!! Overall the pixel 8Pro is a good device, got a lot of features that I really like. However..could I've used it as my main device? Nope... For my type of usage it just lacks the power and a lot more that the S23U have got, on both sides of the hood if you catch my drift. Did you get it?? You know.. Pooower, hood & drift💥!!! ( I'm just a very, very smart Norwegian who's got a highly tuned/modified 200SX S13) I even think that my iphone 15Pro does it better in some areas, but please don't tell anyone😱 I do still hate the iOS.
Haha I agree on both S23U and 15PM counts. And you can bet I will be 'powersliding' into that S24 Ultra when it comes out! I can't drift with my sad 2 litre diesel 😆
GRACIAS. Thank you for saying that matte finishes are more slippery. The glossy finish sticks more to the hands, and that's why it gets more fingerprints. I don't get why other reviewers think otherwise (it may be bc they use the phones with a case but dude!😂)
Alex, amazing video. One complaint I always have with Android phones is that if you keep your phone idle with internet (Wi-Fi/mobile data) connected, I still don't get notifications about RUclips videos and Gmail notifications. However, as soon as I pick up the phone and turn on the screen, I start to receive notifications for Gmail and RUclips. Is that the case with you, Alex?
Now $749 in the US so I bought it this week. Very impressive, smooth to use and smooth to hold, as you said. Still have to test the cameras but clearly aa worthwhile upgrade from the Pixel 6 I bought for $599 2-1/2 years ago.
Does this phone have the same messaging features like chat assist on the s24 ultra? Where it gives you fancy wording and spell checking ? Also what's your favourite phone at the minute
Ive been switching back snd forth between the pixel 8 pro snd the one plus open. Tough to beat the pixel camera Have you tried rhe OnePlus open? i think youd like it better than rhe samsung offering
I have the iPhone 15 and pixel 8 I absolutely love both phones but I've made my pixel my main everyday phone lol I've always been iPhone this pixel is the first android I've really liked
Hey, I have the s21Ultra, and it is still in good condition for a phone function. However, the camera malfunctions, and I cracked the screen a bit. Do you find that the 8 pixel pro would be a good upgrade in comparison to the s21 ultra? I can't complain about it. Even after all these years, the s21 ultra still runs great, has android 14 etc. I'm just kind of afraid to switch unless it is absolutely worth it because I have come to like the samsung UI, but I have had pixel before and like it as well.
Love everything about this phone except for one thing, battery ! Battery is really not that great I'm getting only about 4 hours of screen on time tops. And that's because i have so much things turned off such as 120hz display, I use LTE instead of 5g , and about it background processes are turned off on alot of apps.
I have an S23U, and just got a pixel 8 pro 2 days ago. It's really hard for me to decide which to keep. The S23U is nearly a year old and still outperforms the P8P in certain tasks, which is frustrating from the pixel standpoint. Cameras on the p8p are so far beyond Samsung it's actually insane. Battery life, to my surprise, is better on my pixel? I don't do anything special, yet my s23U drains slightly quicker (about 5% difference with normal usage). The p8p UI is literally perfect. My home screen is a delight to look at. I hate OneUIs icons and folder look. Hate the settings menu, it's just bloated. I love my pixel, but just knowing its basically outdated 2 months after release is reaaaaaly making me wonder if it's worth it.
I am impressed you're getting better battery on the Pixel! but I agree with you, the Pixel 8 Pro is probably one of the most underappreciated devices out there, in terms of the output both in camera and smart functions like the assistant and AI features. I reckon when it drops below $750 it will become a really compelling device to get. I know the S24U will bring a lot of these AI features too, but I wonder if they will be worth 500 bucks more!
I am late to the party, how are you, but being late to comment has the benefit that I can ask you to compare it to s24 AI features :) and now even a 5x telephoto lens. It appears Google and Samsung are also coming closer on hardware - they are trying to use similar sensors so the operating system can be optimized. Even for AI, I won't be surprised if both use similar servers, at least in the USA.
Benchmarks were important enough for Google to block them on Pixel 8/8 Pro and that shows Google's lack of confidence in their product. Hiding the truth is never a good business practice for any company.
Benchmark is just giving you numbers and google knows. Numbers can make this phone look bad. Numbers can be psychologically manipulative. Makes you think the pixel isn't powerfull enough. When it's actually not a bad phone. It handled daily tasks pretty well. When you have control over hardware and software. You can optimize it better. That's why google doesn't need the best chip for what they're aiming to do with their pixel. Which is more AI, making the phone super Smart. Never buy a phone based on Benchmarks only. It does not resemble what the phone actually can do.
I enjoy my Pixel 8 Pro, but when playing games like COD: mobile and others I can't touch the upper right side of my screen while playing battle royal. I haven't experienced this before on any of my other devices so I'm thinking about returning it since I enjoy mobile gaming so much.
Well I messed around and dropped my 7 Pro and did a insurance claim and they didn't have my color so i had another color to choose from and then I seen the 8pro as a option 👀🤯 I clicked 8 pro! 😂 This was Thursday it came in yesterday 👀🤯and it supposed take 3 to 5 business days! What a great birthday gift..lol😜😎
Thank you for the review! Amazing review without bias. I am a fan of Google Pixel phones but have to agree that it's not really good for gaming. Keep it up with more great videos! May I know what's the product on the left hand side? Is it a digital clock? May I have the link of it? Thank you.
I guess I’ll keep my iPhone 15 pro max. S was thinking about trying this phone but the reviews about lagging and signal dropping has changed my mind about it.
Like I said, I had to really go look for these lags and only really experienced it at times during Genshin Impact at the highest settings. It's totally fine for everything else I tried and to be honest, the connectivity has been even better than the 15 Pro Max in busy areas like Central London
Nice review I had ot for a month then sent back to Amazon as the battery life was too poor and the screen got scratched very very easily just holding it in my pocket. Just a question, what is that device at your right on your desk? Thanks
hi there, thank you! I agree the battery could definitely be better. It was ok for me but I understand... The device I have on my desk is the Divoom Times Gate: geni.us/DivoomTimesGat
Hi would you recommend this phone I'll be coming from a one plus 10 pro will I notice any difference between the two, also with the Mous limitless 5.0 pixel 8 pro case would you recommend using a screen protector with this case or do the raised edges do enough to protect the screen?
Definitely! From the OP10 you should definitely feel a decent upgrade. I actually reviewed the Mous cases here, but no need to get a screen protector with the Limitless: ruclips.net/video/xSf2UQ0cN18/видео.htmlsi=Fmp4kAAFblebO5Et
Alex once again with amazing quality content! I miss my Pixel 8 Pro and I'm getting closer and closer to getting back to this phone... This video actually made my FOMO even worse. 😛
haha thanks mate!! Yes, as the dust settled with the iPhone, it's been nice to take the Pixel for a few spins. Love everything about it. I think it may still be on the higher price, especially here in the UK, but it's getting more compelling in the USS for $799 already.
@@AlexGTech so I can get the 256GB straight from Google for ~850 quid, with additional 10%/85GBP Google One store credit. This would be ~765GBP for a 256GB Pixel 8 Pro and I'm REALLY considering it. 🙈
So right now because of trade in + discount codes from work I have the opportunity to get the Pixel 8 Pro for £596 pounds down from £1059. I would be switching from the base S22 with the Exynos chip. Would you call this an upgrade or more of a "sidegrade" considering my old phone? Should I take the leap or keep the S22 around?
Well there isn't a newer pixel phone first off and it is only a few months old to begin with and technology wise we r kinda at a stagnation lvl so yeah it will be worth it for a while. Exactly 7 years to be honest. Take a chill pill and enjoy what u have and not always look at something else. We teach ppl very bad behavior not to appreciate anything anymore from material to human things. Always move on get the newest and don't stick with a relationship values and honor and respect are on the back burner correct. Smh.
What I love :HDR photos and 10 bit HDR VIDEOS that look awesome and incredible on pixel screen What I hate: these same videos look washed out and grayscale when shared with my family and friends without a high peak berightness HDR screen
Pixel 6 pro I'm going to keep it for another 10 years why not as long as the apps get updated who cares about security updates. Technology has plateaued The only thing that is advanced in technology is surveillance and that is done behind closed doors
To me this phone it's for regular day and economy when it comes to the price now if you are going to use it for games, photos and other heavy use and if you have the money galaxy and iPhone are better and to put it more in perspective it depends on your pocket
It only been 2 months if a phones isn't worth after 2 months we are in a sad place. The 23 22 even 21 ultra still a good phone why we act like a phone is trash after 1 month.
I enjoy it and i bought two of it , but to be honest it have some issues with the display ( bumps inside it for both units and many have it ) For photography its not like what everyone said its top and its best ever , it have some issues specially on raw photos Also battery its not great like pixel 7 pro I end up return it and buy iphone 15 pro max
Shame about the display and battery, I've heard about those bumps too. I don't think it's the best ever but it certainly has improved and in some cases produced more pleasing images/videos than both S23U and 15PM when I did my 3 way comparison. They clearly need to do some work but nice to see they're on the right track
@@AlexGTech correct in some cases it get great shoots and I can't say like everyone oh its king camera its better at all for one or two pics 😂 if I want complete camera it's definitely will be S23 ultra or iphone because it's 1000$ phone

Is it really a ? is a 3 month old phone with it lol I am still using a S20 ultra and has it next to the S24 ultra and I can't tell any difference. The g3 might be ok today but what about a year from now 2 years I mean it's already like a 3 year old Samsung recycled chip.
I'd like to try those this year, as well as Xiaomi... I do agree for the price it would be nice to have a beefier processor. But I honestly haven't come across many slowness issues

Thano you so much, glad you enjoyed it! I'm a big fan of the Pixels, so easy to use and what we get, quality-wise, for the price is insane!
Really good, balanced review. I'd love to go caseless but the Pixel 8 Pro is just so slippery, as you mention, I just have to use a case.
I have both the p7p and 23 ultra... Ive always loved the pixels. I gotta say, i always prefer my ultra. Something about this phone is just unbeatable
I carry both all day one sim in each one. The ultra just feels so powerful
I carry both of these as well but I'm starting to use the P7P more and more over the S23 Ultra. I also use Nova Launcher on the P7P.
I recorded a 8 min video and used video boost... It took 6 days to finish. Thats insane
I watched your video and now made up my mind that time to upgrade from 7a to 8 Pro
So glad I got mine.
Overall it's a very nice phone but the scroll stutter in many apps is killing it for me.
I was thinking about upgrading from my S22ultra but seeing how the pixel 9 might be coming out this year I might wait a bit longer. But great review almost made me want to switch now haha.
I switched from a 22 ultra and so far it's been a really good experience to the point that I now know that pixel will be my next phone too
Great review man! 👌🏽
Was waiting for this. Thanks
my pleasure! Hope you enjoyed it 🙏🏼
Love your review.
Love my pixel 8 pro. Simply awesome. 💪🔥
Good choice! Really pleasing to use, awesome cameras and very bright screen, I like where Google is going with the Pixel
Thanks, my next upgrade soon. Obrigado por esse review! Bom trabalho.
Oh no! That's sad to hear... I agree with you though with the brands being reviewed. I'm 100% trying some new ones this year!
( I'm just a very, very smart Norwegian who's got a highly tuned/modified 200SX S13)
I even think that my iphone 15Pro does it better in some areas, but please don't tell anyone😱
I do still hate the iOS.
Haha I agree on both S23U and 15PM counts.
And you can bet I will be 'powersliding' into that S24 Ultra when it comes out! I can't drift with my sad 2 litre diesel 😆
5:29 bro went time slipping
It's the best there is if you actually use your device for life
GRACIAS. Thank you for saying that matte finishes are more slippery. The glossy finish sticks more to the hands, and that's why it gets more fingerprints. I don't get why other reviewers think otherwise (it may be bc they use the phones with a case but dude!😂)
My pleasure. And yeah, its a soap bar right? 😅 Lovely phone to use though
@@AlexGTech 😂😂 yes!!
I appreciate how real you kept the review
Alex, amazing video. One complaint I always have with Android phones is that if you keep your phone idle with internet (Wi-Fi/mobile data) connected, I still don't get notifications about RUclips videos and Gmail notifications. However, as soon as I pick up the phone and turn on the screen, I start to receive notifications for Gmail and RUclips. Is that the case with you, Alex?
Ikr no matter how long I use Android I simply can't seem to get used to that notifications turning on like crazy the moment I pick up my phone.
@@katinasoutherland7693 yup it's super annoying. That's why I hesitate to switch to Android completely.
Oh my goodness yes!!! And because I have a Garmin watch, the barrage of notifications on my wrist too 😆 wish they fixed that
Now $749 in the US so I bought it this week. Very impressive, smooth to use and smooth to hold, as you said. Still have to test the cameras but clearly aa worthwhile upgrade from the Pixel 6 I bought for $599 2-1/2 years ago.
Thanks for the video. Which model case is that?
Still using my Pixel 8 Pro and I love it. Feels so comfortable in my hand. Super fast and super lovely screen. It's a beauty of a phone.
Great review!! Just picked up a Pixel 8 Pro 👌😁
Great video, top notch content reviews.
Does this phone have the same messaging features like chat assist on the s24 ultra? Where it gives you fancy wording and spell checking ? Also what's your favourite phone at the minute
Great camera. Works just fine until it freezes up and haa to be restarted....which happens 5 or 10 times a day depending on how much it's used.
Ive been switching back snd forth between the pixel 8 pro snd the one plus open. Tough to beat the pixel camera
Have you tried rhe OnePlus open? i think youd like it better than rhe samsung offering
I have the iPhone 15 and pixel 8 I absolutely love both phones but I've made my pixel my main everyday phone lol I've always been iPhone this pixel is the first android I've really liked
such a nice device, great to see how the Pixel is evolving!
I like your videos dude! Thanks for the overview 😊
Glad you like them, thank you so much!!
Great review, much love from 🇳🇬
Thank you so much 🤗 wow, Nigeria!! Have a good one! 🇳🇬
I'm watching this on the minty pixel. I upgraded from a 3a. It's great 😅
Love everything about this phone except for one thing, battery ! Battery is really not that great I'm getting only about 4 hours of screen on time tops. And that's because i have so much things turned off such as 120hz display, I use LTE instead of 5g , and about it background processes are turned off on alot of apps.
great video Alex as always
I appreciate that Jessica! thank you!
It is as slippery as the Pixel Pro 7..I have both... no way can you go bareback.
@@AlexGTech Completely agree! I got the P8P for $800, but with my S23U trade in the S24 may be the line to look at
This Pixel 8 Pro Camera is on another level!!!!!
just be happy with phone you have I have a terrible phone oppo A16k it really slow I've been using it 4 years
I am late to the party, how are you, but being late to comment has the benefit that I can ask you to compare it to s24 AI features :) and now even a 5x telephoto lens. It appears Google and Samsung are also coming closer on hardware - they are trying to use similar sensors so the operating system can be optimized. Even for AI, I won't be surprised if both use similar servers, at least in the USA.
Thank you Alex.
Cheers mate!! 2024 in full force now! Have a good one 😊
Battery temperature is 45 degrees at room temperature with LTE. I was just scrolling through Instagram. Pixel 8.
Benchmarks were important enough for Google to block them on Pixel 8/8 Pro and that shows Google's lack of confidence in their product. Hiding the truth is never a good business practice for any company.
I agree with that, it's impossible to hide it as people can still sideload any app but it certainly wasnt a good look
I haven't experienced this before on any of my other devices so I'm thinking about returning it since I enjoy mobile gaming so much.
oh no, that's a shame! I havent tried COD but will give that a go, it sounds like a software issue but definitely not great...
Is this your findings after the latest update that supposedly buffed the tensor g3 gpu?
yes indeed, most of my performance tests were doine after the December update
Nice editing
Well I messed around and dropped my 7 Pro and did a insurance claim and they didn't have my color so i had another color to choose from and then I seen the 8pro as a option 👀🤯 I clicked 8 pro! 😂 This was Thursday it came in yesterday 👀🤯and it supposed take 3 to 5 business days!
What a great birthday gift..lol😜😎
They sent me a black 1 like yours
Thank you for the review! Amazing review without bias. I am a fan of Google Pixel phones but have to agree that it's not really good for gaming. Keep it up with more great videos! May I know what's the product on the left hand side? Is it a digital clock? May I have the link of it? Thank you.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼 the product I have next to me is the Divoom Times Gate: geni.us/TimesGate
@@AlexGTech Thank you so much! Your setting is so cool!
If s24 has same level Google assistant typing/speech recognition, it’s a go. Only reason I keep a pixel.
That is such a cool feature! That live translation too, it's amazing now on the Pixel!
Definitely! I appreciate your honest review. I’ve looked at a couple of them on the pixel 8 pro and that seems to be the common case.
@@AlexGTech thanks for sharing it! 👍
Some one talk about thermal issues while using social media and camera pleaaaaasssseeeee!!!!!!
Cant beat the 7 years update and security.
Smh.
August 2024, it's time for pixel 9 pro xl 😁
Yes, I will definitely review it but can't rush it, I really want to do a good job with it 🥰
Don't like spying software on s23 or 8pro. Only if you root it and install something else
Thanks for video
Most welcome 🤗
What I love :HDR photos and 10 bit HDR VIDEOS that look awesome and incredible on pixel screen
What I hate: these same videos look washed out and grayscale when shared with my family and friends without a high peak berightness HDR screen
HDR videos are awesome but you found the same issue I found... the playback of the video has to be on a device that also has HDR displays...
Cause pixel needs a couple more year to be in the same league as galaxy and iPhone
It only been 2 months if a phones isn't worth after 2 months we are in a sad place. The 23 22 even 21 ultra still a good phone why we act like a phone is trash after 1 month.
Liked and subscribed
I enjoy it and i bought two of it , but to be honest it have some issues with the display ( bumps inside it for both units and many have it )
For photography its not like what everyone said its top and its best ever , it have some issues specially on raw photos
Also battery its not great like pixel 7 pro
I end up return it and buy iphone 15 pro max
Shame about the display and battery, I've heard about those bumps too. I don't think it's the best ever but it certainly has improved and in some cases produced more pleasing images/videos than both S23U and 15PM when I did my 3 way comparison. They clearly need to do some work but nice to see they're on the right track
@@AlexGTech correct in some cases it get great shoots and I can't say like everyone oh its king camera its better at all for one or two pics 😂
if I want complete camera it's definitely will be S23 ultra or iphone because it's 1000$ phone
Thank you so much for your review with me. It's always exciting to hear about new gadgets and their capabilities. Oh, and by the way, I couldn't help but notice that you have a really nice wristwatch. If you don't mind me asking, could you share what brand and model it is?
My pleasure! And thank you , the watch is from Garmin. I reviewed it here, I really like it! ruclips.net/video/moIqavoWmTc/видео.html
Hi. What about reception and signal strength?
hi there, like I mentioned in the video, this has been great and in busy locations like Central London I was able to get better 4g/5G than the iPhone!
Use Pixel 8 Pro more than month, not bad phone. Bad very bad battery and processor.
I have bought 6 pro and 7 pro google phones have way too many hardware and software issues. They cant make solid phone.
Samsung is better but the UI is what kills it for me 😮💨 now owning a pixel 8 pro after s23 ultra ans fold 5
I do like OneUI but I can see why some people migth prefer the cleaner look and feel of the Pixel
Is it really a ? is a 3 month old phone with it lol I am still using a S20 ultra and has it next to the S24 ultra and I can't tell any difference. The g3 might be ok today but what about a year from now 2 years I mean it's already like a 3 year old Samsung recycled chip.
No not with that pathetic G3 processor. For the same cash I can get the latest and far superior OPPO Find X7 Ultra and VIVO X100 Pro.
I'd like to try those this year, as well as Xiaomi... I do agree for the price it would be nice to have a beefier processor. But I honestly haven't come across many slowness issues
Hmmm. " Slippery". Don't moan. Fit a case. Cheap. Easy. Effective.
