I told that to someone the other day that was asking me about what I do after squats. I said usually some hanging leg raises, maybe a few curls for the girls, and go home. He looked at me like what about leg press. I said if you have any energy or desire to do a bunch of leg press or something you aren't working hard enough to get stronger. And sure enough saw him a few days later doing quarter reps.... With sleeves...... 225 on the bar. But his tough mudder finisher t-shirt really was pretty sweet.
I feel like the answer should've been based around sets, reps, and weight schemes, and they were used as examples but it wasn't a useful answer. Maxing out on weight and maxing out on volume is a different feeling entirely
So I’m hypertrophy phases would you say you should take some of your accessory sets to failure or rpe 9? And then in peaking phases you’d probably dial back the volume and the rpe to like a rpe 5-6-7 for accessories ?
Answer the damn question... for myself everything besides my squat bench dead main sets represent 50% in time of my workout (30min of acc. Work on an hour long training session)
It was impossible for them to answer the question in a few words hence why they made a 5 minute video... Not everything has a 2-word answer. "How much accessories should I be doing" what a fucking stupidly vague question. How long is a piece of string would've been just as useful a question. I'm surprised Dave and Joe gave it the time of day as it's just so ill-posed and encumbered with unspecified variables that it can barely be answered. However, they did answer it and impatient people such as yourself will still complain because who can spare 5 minutes in today's age of 'instant fixes'.
The answer is it depends. If you're going really hard on your main lifts then accessory work isn't as important. But if you aren't doing a ton on the main lift then more accessory volume is fine. That's the basic gist

Dave always looks so goshdarn cozy in there

richw76 lol
So when % goes up on main lifts, accessories come down.

@@dvmtraining6231 calm down, the message in the video could have been clearer
You two have about as much charisma as a loaf of bread. Have someone else answer these questions.

Good discussion, but they never answered the question.

"You suck and you don't try hard enough" XD...ehhh...
Around 5-10%
