GOAT tier year. So many great games out that year. Probably the machine's last true great year to be honest. Well unless you include 2023 which is shaping up to be phenomenally good.
Those games were so much different from 80's... Huge sprites, Great color and faster games (in general). I didn't know some of the games from your list, so I take note and I Will test them. Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much! This 50 games series is so great! From your videos its clear to notice what I also felt at the time, 1988 and 1989 were really the golden age of Spectrum games, from 1990 to 1992 you could feel quality and creativity having a decline...
This one was a nice one to make as I didn't know a lot of the games myself - I switched to PC in 1991 so it was nice to revisit the year and see what I would play if I still had Speccy back then :)
Thanks so much for uploading all of these fantastic speccy games. I loved Head Over Heals, Rainbow Islands, The Dizzy games and many many more. I think I'm definitely going to have to purchase a Spectrum Next to relive my childhood, teenage years and carry on the Speccy adventure! 😃
I actually started buying Your Sinclair magazine regularly from 1991 to 1992. Didn't realise it at the time that the Speccy scene was in a decline. And I remember Toki being talked about a lot in certain issues. Sadly it was never released. I was looking forward to it.
Yeah, found quite a few games I didn't know myself. I switched to PC in 1991 so "this year" was quite an unknown territory for me as well :) Thanks for watching the video and happy new year!
Thankyou for this!, it cropped up in a general browse during my lunch break. Perfect video, just the right amount of everything really, i've found some gems to try on my Next thanks to you 🙂, you've gained a subscriber! #
Such a strange system. It could handle a lot of on screen movement but so few colours. There's usually a correlation between those two elements. Less colours, less movement. More colours, more movement. Not the Spectrum!

And thank you again for watching.
It's nice to see I'm not creating these videos just for myself :)
Some of my favourite Speccy games came out in 1991... Exterminator, Rodland and SWIV were excellent!

Totally agree. The speccy was passe by 1991.You had classics like Rex, LN2 WTSS and laser squad in 88
Nice to see the speccys later games, great video mate.

Just watched the whole of the Top 50 Spectrum games playlist. Outstanding work - and lots of great memories! Thank you for working on the series! :)
Thanks again for kind words and for committing quite a bit of your time to watch my videos.
It's appreciated!

Glad you liked the video.
My Spectrum Next is in this next "batch" that should get delivered any day now ;)

Here Italy, the videogame "North and South" for the SPECTRUM 48K ? Fantastic !!! I have the version for AMIGA 500.
I love the old ax speccy as I to have, I had a lot offunon my beloved speech.
Can you imagine if the world was made of color zones, and everything in it were clear cellophane?
This list is actually just fifty games released for the ZX Spectrum in 1991...
ZX Spectrum graphics needs scanlines for optimal experience.
I had a Road Runner Spectrum game in 1988 that looked a bit similar to this. Was the one featured a completely new game?
Yes, US Gold released Road Runner in 1987. This is a different game.
Hi, are you going to do a yearly Top 50 for the C64?
Hi, yes I will do the top 50 for C64 as well.
Thanks for watching!
@@retrononame That's fantastic. Absolutely love your videos ☺️👍👍
@@dennyhaynes3 Thank you! Much appreciated!
'Skull & Crossbones' will still be better than Ubisoft's 'Sull & Bones'. 🙂

You forgot the more interesting bit. :)
This is what happens when you try to port 16-bit era games to 8-bit platform. The results were often spectacular...
Wow how did Outrun Europa get released looking like that?? Surely contender for the worst looking speccy game ever??
Yeah it doesn't look too good, but the game is actually quite fun to play (at least for me) - that's why it's on the list.
Thanks for watching!
